Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey

AAA Mites! 😆 The Most Prestigious Youth Hockey tournament in the world. 😆 THIS is what is broken with youth hockey... https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BKYdBWdMt/

I keep hearing that Covid most impacted the 2012-2015 birth years (with 13/14 the most). From talking with friends with interest in these age groups at various organizations it does seem like there are fewer athletes in the cohort. Several have said their organizations are fielding fewer teams than usual. Is everyone seeing the same thing? For the good of future 16U hockey, I hope the organizations find a way to keep kids in the sport. If attrition happens at the same rate, it could be bleak for a couple years as this bubble move through the age groups.

Our 12U A team is looking for a 2nd goalie. If you know of anyone available or interested, please let me know! South Hills / South Pittsburgh area.

PAHL is now using Gamesheet and all stats are now posted on the site. I know this has been a point of contention for some time so I thought I'd point it out.

Hi everyone, As directed by the Pennsylvania High School Hockey Hall of Fame Committee Members during our meeting a few months back, I have completed the PROPOSED – Criteria Nomination Process and Nomination Forms for Players and Coaches including an Analytical Inspection and Validation Process for the WHITEBOARD for over 120+ High School Hockey Programs across Pennsylvania. I have also included a Nomination Forms – Special Awards for Founders, Officials, Builders and Media and Individual Teams as part of the process. We have adopted as suggested a 15 Month Plan culminating in the celebrations and inaugural inductions for t…

Wow! Pens Elite had 5 or 6 of their guys drafted to the NHL this weekend! That's a pretty solid number. Did any of the other Pittsburgh area "AAA" organizations have any taken?

Hello all- I have made another change to the registration process to hopefully try and reduce spammers. But keep in mind, these people operate funded networks which try to abuse sites like this. So stay vigilant and notify me of any spam posts. I hope you all have a great summer! Let me know any questions/comments. Feel free to reply here. PB

As a result of me lowering the standards to register, namely, allowing GMAIL addresses, we're seeing spammers again. Please continue to flag spam posts as you see them and I will ban them as soon as I can. Thanks all- PB

Hello, What are the best places in the Pittsburgh area to get a kid a new pair of skates and making sure you get the right fit for them? My kids usually get used skates because they like the feel of them already broken in, but one of them wants to try getting a brand new pair and getting them baked to fit the foot. Any suggestions?

Well, I couldn’t reply directly to the post since the topic was closed, but I’ve attached it here. Fast forward three years, and now half of the former Black team players are on the Gold team for the 2013s. Probably made sense to just stay that Squirt Minor year - even though, according to this forum, they were “forced” to be on the team - since they made the team in April and didn’t even find out which team they were on until September.

I’m starting a chain so we can post tryout postings for the teams in the area. We have done this in the past and it has been really helpful.

Social media is blooming with people posting screenshots of Johnny's MidAm selection. How accurate this year are they? Saw a few missing kids

Looks like they are up to 9 teams for this season. I believe this began with 4 teams under the guidance of the late John Mucha and it's great to see that his vision of growing the game continues as part of his legacy.

I think there was a thread for this, but I cannot find it. Pittsburgh Vengeance has roster openings at the following mixed year teams: 10U - Skaters and 1 Goalie 12U, 14U, 16U - Skaters Interested? WVU is building a new ice rink which is awesome for their programs. I thought maybe that it was an indication that they may move to have an NCAA team, but from what I can see it isn’t going to be any more than 800 seats. Clearly not big enough for a D1 NCAA program. Why would they spend all that money and not make it large enough for an NCAA team?

Anyone watching the U18 Worlds Championships? The US looks solid and local LJ Mooney has seven points in three games. The games are being held in Frisco, TX? Give me a break - games are in front of very sparse crowds - kinda embarrassing if you ask me. Nothing but empty seats.

Congrats to ALL Selected and Considered. I LOVE the choices and Great Job Keith !!

I have a large box of practice jerseys, socks and other gear that is clean, but we want to donate it. Anyone in the PGH area in need of this or anyone know a local org who would like this? Thanks!

Dowiak and DiMarsico for PSU out of PPE lighting it up tonight in NCAA tournament. Nice to see the PGH influence.

Lots of Spring and summer training opportunities in the area. It might be nice to have them all collected in one place.
