  1. We had separate clock (me) and scorekeepers. Refs still had issues. But like I said, what else can be done? Our team is actually hiring a young man to do games in the regular season. He does both clock and scoresheets, as well as play music. He does this for many amateur and high school games and does an excellent job. But I don’t think he has any input on who the points scorers are. It would almost take an extra person whose only job was to see who scores. And that isn’t happening. People just need to accept mistakes.

  2. I used to do games for years, and I have actually seen more instances than you would think of the score keepers recording the numbers incorrectly, especially if it is the same person running the clock. I'm not sure how much more efficient it is with the iPads now, but having 1 person running the clock and the other person doing the scoresheet always seemed to work best as far as accuracy. Teams already supply someone for the penalty box, and clock... it shouldn't kill another parent to volunteer to do the scoresheet. My guess is that the same parent that is going to complain about a mistake on the scoresheet is also going to be the same parent who complains about having to volunteer to do it.

  3. I worked the clock at a game this weekend, the refs weren’t sure of the goal scorer on 2 out of the 6 goals scored in the game, and also unsure about assists on most goals. Both very experienced refs. And I could see why it is hard sometimes. It would take more help to get it correct. But where does that come from? And it shouldn’t be a worry if there are mistakes. The kids and parents know who scores most of the time. And it has ABSOLUTELY no effect on the trajectory of their kids careers.
