So we know the kids were at Preds AAa- (for those keeping track that is only 2.5 A's) They are a good team but I'm not sure they would have won PAHL last year. Rabbit hole there sorry. Same kid or kids were at North Hills tryouts. Let's see how many of the Preds and North Hills kids come down with the virus. Maybe that gives us a place to start evaluating potential spread.

You need to look at the spread of the disease. 3 cases will not make or break anything. To soon to tell.

I'm not talking about the extra A argument. Don't these teams pay a PAHL fee? How many teams have to leave PAHL before this becomes an issue?

Mt. Lebo, Preds, Icemen, PPE, Esmark, Vengence all fielding AAA teams. I'm wondering if PAHL will be able to survive. Who is left? NP, AHA, WM, SCIR. PAHL is becoming a watered dowl version of what is once was. Call it what you want but it looking more and more like a house league division.

If teams were not already picked wouldn't you want to have tryouts at different times? Organizations schedule tryouts the same time as other organizations so the kids who know they have made the team are the one's who show up. Most of this is already decided.

Spring league already started at Harmarville? Seriously more teams should be looking to have practice/some sort of something over there if that is going to be the only rink open. I beleive there will be hockey- We live in WPA and they are not planning on canceling the football season...

USA Hockey would not sanction the rink. IMO USA Hockey should hammer anyone not following the guidlines. Suspensions of teams and coaches possibly the entire organization. You don't see other sports teams practicing, no other rinks are open for business in this fashion. I'm all for the rink opening but you would think they would have some idea of who is renting the rink and what it is being used for. I don't think they can just put their head in the sand and say coach A is renting the ice for private use and walk away free and clear. Coach A is obviously renting the rink for his team to use. My guess is nothing happens and this group just keeps doing what they have been doing.

I was just on a conference call and was assured teams were not already picked. My player would have to compete for a spot just like everyone else. Is that not true?

I miss hockey, my hockey player misses hockey. Our family is missing hockey. I would not jeopardize the health of my player or my family including my parents and those who are ill by packing 20 people into a locker room. Someone just pointed out how many people were sick this past season. Well imagine what this would be like.... To those making comparisons to the flu-I guess they keep the Beaver Ice rink frozen in the winter for all the people who die of the flu???? We have been lucky this area has had a minimal impact...You're hockey people talk to one of your friends in Detroit they will tell you exactly how bad it could be.

Golf courses just opened in MI yesterday. Construction on May 7th. No idea when rinks will be added to the list.

Tryouts might happen in July/August. No travel until the fall at least. How many kids decide to pack it in and don't play becasue of this?

I agree with Hockey22 about the commitment. Don't except the position if you're not sure it is the team you want to play on. Hockey22 you are being naive if you don't think kids get special treatment.

Part of the problem is allowing kids to play at a reduced rate the first year to get the kid on the team. I'm not saying this is a frozen pond issue but it has been at other rinks. Coaches give special kids special pricing. Word gets out eventually.

You guys crack me up. I just glanced at the ranking. 105 teams in AAA 2005, 45 teams below them. They’d be 5th (ish) in tier 2. Not great, not bad. As for the Preds as a whole, I’m not sure if I’d go back or not. They are the same as every other club. Some good things, some bad, some very bad. Question is, do the pros out weigh the cons? Not to be outdone, the 14U Preds just took it on the chin 12-0 thanks to Pens Elite as well. OrrWhat you may want to look at this

For clarity, I was not trying to rehash the AAA-AA argument. Just trying to figure out if this was true.

I have been hearing rumors about this. Last year the 04 team went to AAA, does the organization take the 2005 BY AAA as well?

I was at the rink today about 2pm and there had to be 60+ Excel kids on the ice.

Do we consider the 61st ranked 14u AAA team in this discussion? Probably would have done well in PAHL AA.
