  1. Are you guys doing a Middle School Scholastic tournament again like a few years ago?
  2. That 2010 AA Aviators team is coached by a coach that coached 10U AA at NP last year. He left and took most of the players from that team to the Aviators.
  3. You are correct. We had to book ice out of town and ask parents to pay ice rental money to get games in otherwise we would have been A minor gold and undefeated. The kids obviously matured and learned more in the correct division
  4. Sure. Keep in mind last year was an odd year due to Covid. So they skipped placement games. we were listed as A minor gold. Our coach looked at our roster and where kids were prior year and thought PAHL was way off. Our team loaded a ton of scrimmages against PAHl teams one to 2 divisions above us. Because PA was closed we bought ice in Ohio. Our team outshot and out scored opponents. In the end the team moved up to A Major white. Scoresheets and evals were sent to PAHl for consideration They played a little over 50 games between tournaments and PAHL. In PAHL they finished around the .500 mark. Games were very competitive and didnt have any blowouts.
  5. My childs team moved up 2 divisions last year due to appeals
  6. Hey guys. Is it possible in the area to assemble a group of kids and enter any ice hockey tournaments? Everything typically talks about having to play with your sanctioned USA hockey roster. Looking for any tips. Would be great to get some kids together over the holidays while our team is slow and play some games. Any help is appreciated.
  7. I'm not for shutdowns and hate the mask. But I do it and follow the rules. But I was at Baierl recently and the parking lot was jammed packed. Everyone had on masks but people should follow the request of the rink management to not congregate indoors and stuff like that. I want to watch my kid practice, but management asked unless you really need to be there then please wait outside. It's like once the Gov changed capacities, folks in the area went ballistic with a feeling of freedom. Like it or not, and hoax not hoax, whatever your belief, we still are being told to be cautious. Seems like some took the new limits as a green light. I wonder what is going on at other rinks.
  8. Your hockey family becomes your covid family. That's not a joke. But when you all are huddling and socializing all weekend, the whole hockey team and family are "in it" together. All have to work together to keep everyone safe and follow whatever rules the rink and hotel request.
  9. I've talked to some folks in organizations that are afraid to go out of town with Covid. Not from a health standpoint but from a game play, spectator, and overall process standpoint. Wanted to provide our experience. We went to Cleveland OH for the Rock n Roll cup. There was some up front paperwork like waivers for everyone in attendance. Not just players. I can tell you we had all parents and siblings also fill these out and when handed to the tournament folks they didn't even look at them. We also filled out a table with each players name and address. In most instances we were only allowed 2 spectators. We had to list each spectator next to the player name. We showed the table at the one rink and they said don't worry about it, only the Gilmour rink will need it for temperature checks. On game day at Gilmour there was a long line to get it. They had our kids signing in. We cut to the front of the line to show them the table so they could temp check and check each player and spectator name off. Little disconnect with the arena personnel and tournament folks. Luckily we identified the problem and provided the table they original requested at sign ups. Of course masks at all arenas. Kids had to get dressed outside as much as possible. And players could enter locker rooms 15 min before the game. Families entered 5 mins before the game. Gilmour had a requirement to wear masks even when in the parking lot tailgating/getting dressed. Other than the above the games were played normally. No hand shakes after the game. No congregating. Just head outside and follow the arrows in the rinks. Was nice to get out of PA and have a normal tournament feel.
  10. It's going to be horrible I feel. Some organizations are just not quick to email back.
  11. Dunno if this helps. Baierl says 1,000 per ice sheet https://www.sportsinpa.com/venues/family-first-sports-park?rid=All&cid[]=All&vid[]=178#:~:text=Baierl Ice Complex features two, over 1000 seats per rink.
  12. It is interesting that a lot of folks have been preaching this approach to the "Data" for quite some time. Use the fire code limits and assign a % capacity based on building size. The 25 limit for every scenario was never scientific. But I'm just rehashing...
  13. Ok where is this jag off? Or was the 10 am fake news? I didn't see an official announcement from Wolf's office. Simply was on a few new stations.
  14. I believe the new year starts all over. If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, they have to play at least 5-7 games. I thought I remember reading that on the site. That is the sample size to begin the process. Last year before any teams had played the 7 games we did. So we were ranked in like the top 25 of the state. That obviously didn't last long as more teams played the games needed to number crunch.
  15. Like any else it has the possibility to be incorrect. But I feel a lot can go in to that. Did the other team play poorly and have a bad game? Also tends to be an issue when a PA team say travels to NY. They view levels of play differently A Major vs A2 for example. That being said it can be pretty darn close and is the only system out there for gauging matchups and making sure when scheduling tournaments or scrimmages your team is competitive.
  16. Wolf said last week he was looking to increase capacities. Has anyone hear anything on that? If I remember his presser was Thursday and they were talking about HS football on Friday. He said something like "soon."
