  1. I know this was posted awhile ago but I was board today and now that the season is well underway I thought it would be a good time to do some investigating. Below are the percentage of FPP received at each level of play. 18AA - 77.2% 18 A Major - 61.8% 18 A Minor - 64.5% 16AA - 64.4% 16 A Major Black - 75.4% 16 A Major Gold - 67.9% 16 A Minor - 78.1% 14 AA Major - 71.4% 14 AA Minor - 76.4% 14 A Major Black - 83.3% 14 A Major Gold - 80.8% 14 A Minor Black - 75.0% 14 A Minor Gold - 80.2% 14 B - 89.7% In almost every case where the overall average is below 70% it's a result of 2-3 teams that's drastically bring down the whole division. While I didn't have time to look up the past season for an accurate comparison on the surface it looks like most teams/players are doing a good job adjusting to the FPP rules as most teams are getting the majority of their available FPPs. It also looks like this notion expressed in many posts that the refs are calling more 2/10 penalties is way off base. I can only assume that those post were a result of games where the handful of teams that don't play disciplined hockey were involved. I also found it interest that the 14U division had some of the best numbers even though this started as a discussion about Bantam teams not getting many FPPS.
  2. Don't lose that picture Arnold. It will be a collector's item one day because I don't imagine you'll ever see another photo taken of players holding a National Championship(Or District Championship) banner while wearing Mustangs jerseys again. Pretty sad honestly.
  3. By some younger teams I assume you're talking about the 8u team because that's the only team they have that's even a legitimate AA team. The 14U team currently ranks #270 which is behind many local A teams and is even behind Mt. Lebo's #3 team. The 12U team currently sits at #442 which again is behind many of the local A teams and I won't even get into the 18U team that has as many 16U players on the roster as 18U players and would have a hard time beating most of the local A Major Black teams. The real issue is that at the end of last season their was another management change in the organization that basically forced out anyone that still remained after Dave left who was part of building that once great organization so that they could do things their way, like placing 16U players on the 18U team which would have never happened under the former regimes. The new management better do everything in their power to keep that 8U team together because that's pretty much the only ray of hope they have for even having an organization in a few years let alone every winner another district or national championship.
  4. Am I missing something? Clicked on that link and went through every division. I saw a lot of teams from WPA from organizations like Armstrong, the Icemen, SCIR and others but I didn't see a single Viper Stars team listed.
  5. But isn't that in itself a move simply to placate the egos of the people involved with those AA Minor teams? Instead of placing those teams in A Major Black were they belong and have been placed for ever they created another AA division so that those teams could still call themselves AA and didn't have to degrade themselves by playing a year at lowly A Major?
  6. I think this is an interesting point. Having been around the game for nearly 30 years I can tell you without a doubt that the ADM has increased the skill level of the young players. I'm not sure that necessarily justifies more teams being AA though because all the kids in those birth years would have come through that program so I would think the progression would be more proportional. I also think this would be a more likely explanation if there were actual evaluation involved as part of the placement process but since placement is based off of a data of past level of play and placement game scores I don't see that being a plausible explanation. If someone was actually watching the games, observing the skill level of the teams and then determining the overall skill level was higher than in year past the ADM explanation would make much more sense but as it sits this seems more like a conscious decision to simply increase the number of teams label as AA.
  7. Looking at the placements for the upcoming season the number of teams placed at AA really caught me by surprise. At all 3 of the oldest divisions(18u, 16u & 14u) there are more teams placed at AA than at A Major Black and I don't recall ever seeing that before. At 18u almost half of the total registered teams were placed at AA(9 of 21) and all 3 divisions have more AA teams in 2018 than they had in 2017(18u 9-8, 16u 9-6, 14u 16-8). I could understand the increase if the number of teams drastically changed but being that the number of teams for each age group is relatively the same as 2017 it simply means that a higher percentage of players/teams(18u 42.8%-36.4%, 16u 23.6%-17.6%, 14u 23.5%-11.1%) are playing at the AA level now . Was there some new training method that I missed that led to so many players developing faster than in years past that I missed or is this just another move to placate the egos of the parents/organizations?
