The problem was right in the name they removed. Removing it doesn't change the fact that they still named it after him after everything came to light. And only changed their minds when the backlash was received. Plus, the word "catholic" is still there, that's enough for me to not trust them.

Perhaps things still go on, but I don't remember hearing of a school district covering up abuse by moving an offending staff member from school to school, allowing them to continue the abuse.

Everything you said has zero to do with people accusing the school of covering up abuse that happened at said school.

Your trust in Catholics is about as good as my trust in so-called Christians.

That’s the problem with this thread. Everyone thinks their kid is going to the NHL. everyone on here thinks that. Sorry to burst your bubble but that is not the mindset of all. My personal child is a 2011 but know many on this Pens team and similar birth years. I only could hope my child can have a similar experience.  Like I said in a previous post, anyone who thinks their kid is going to the NHL isn’t thinking straight. There is so much more to these experiences. What drives me nuts is the disgruntled keyboard cowboys that think their child belongs somewhere they aren’t and blames everyone for their faults. Seems like another jealous human upset their kid isn’t celebrating in a city hosting a national championship. Semi finals 2 years in a row is a great accomplishment for that team and those players and families. NHL isn’t always the only goal. Most know that but won’t accept it. That’s too bad. Hockey is a great sport that offers so much more than just the NHL. Open your eyes.

Interesting that you did not address my comment that most of the U16 and U18 players are not Pittsburgh locals like you claimed they were.

    Open your eyes.

Pucks11…. You are completely out of your mind. You are the definition of the title of this thread… DELUSIONAL. So fitting. The kids in the high level teams like Pens have earned their spots. Unlike the prep schools, the Pens are majority local and yet they are still competing in North Dakota. Totally shuts your theory and stupid thought process down. Clearly you have a kid that can’t hang with the Pens. That’s ok. Just accept it, move on, and play AA.

Hey U15 Pens dad - we see you.   You need to look at the U16 and U18 rosters - the majority of players are not local kids.

But give it time.  Soon enough when your kid gets into those older age groups he will face “different odds” on his path to the NHL.

Let’s circle back after tryouts, yes?

  4. U16 SCIR is 2-0 going into today's game.

U18 Armstrong lost a tough one this morning in OT and is eliminated.  Allegheny is 1-1 and plays later today.

PPE U16 team has been eliminated while U14 and U15 are still in the hunt.

Tier 2 is a joke in my opinion.  Missing most of the top teams , teams get in because they are hosts,.....Their is better competition at a lot of the bigger tournaments throughout the season than tier 2 nationals.

U18 Tier 2, 3A has the strongest teams by far - Cheektowaga, West Dundee, Armstrong, Chesterfield.

U18 Allegheny Ind. gets a "host" spot in 2A?  If they are hosting natty's, give them a one game bye in Mid-ams.  But a guaranteed spot in natty's?  Hell nah.

Scores from Wednesday for U18 - Armstrong lost 2-1 and Allegheny lost 7-4.

they lost in the pens cup final...i dont view that as success..

Only two out of the 24 A-level teams make it to the Pens Cup final and they lost to a team that did not lose a game the entire season.  Most schools would take that scenario in a heartbeat.  On top of that, GS was a five seed.

OK...  so back to the Stellar 6 discussion, would the best player(s) at D2 put up similar numbers against AA competition if they are still on their D2 team and playing at that level?  I feel like that is the question that started this discussion.  Based off of some of the responses, unless the player(s) in question are good enough to carry a team, my instinct is that the answer is going to be they would not.

There are numerous good players at the D2 level putting up ungodly numbers, but that is because in general D2 teams lack the depth to field 3-4 solid lines so the top players are on the ice 75% of time time, including special teams play.  Also, some teams may roll four lines to give all players ice time which is a huge mismatch to a team rolling two lines with their best players which allows players to pad their stats.  Again, not to disparage any players on that level but IMO they would not put up similar numbers at AA or AAA PIHL level.

I haven’t paid attention to that lately, but I do remember kids joking about a particular player doing that a few years ago. But doesn’t mean that all kids do it, so to discount everyone’s assists based on the fact that some kids do it is probably not the best solution.

I never said all kids do it, but a lot of them do it.  A lot of them.

Why less weight for assists? I am familiar with high school hockey, but don’t understand your statement.

I cannot speak for @twoboys but if you watch closely after a goal is scored, you will see players get in the refs ear that they were the ones that should be awarded the assist.  it happens all of the time and I have seen players nowhere near the puck or scoring play do this in order to pad their stats.

Looks like parents in Detroit are burning their money as well. Glad @fafafohi and the crew have it figured out or what would we all do??

LOL I never told you what to do now did I?  I stated what I WOULD DO.  And I also said "to each his own."

Make your own decision - I don't really care what you do.  Preds and Icemen AAA coaches are always looking for that diamond in the rough and parents with a thick wallet, maybe you and your player fit the bill.

If you surveyed all the players and parents on these teams, I would guess almost all would say they would rather be on a Tier I team and not win (as many probably somehow believe they can win).

Preds parents from the U18 AAA 105th ranked Tier 1 team and Icemen parents from the U18AAA 120th ranked team might respond with "hold my beer."  Both teams were out of MidAms consideration by December.

No way in hell would I pay for the extra A just to say my kid played AAA on a horrible team with no shot at playing in MidAms and would rather have a realistic chance of going to MidAms and Natty's on a top AA team.  Hell, the Preds AA U18 team was ranked higher than their U18 AAA team.

    $4k tuition for a PAHL team….yikes

It is typically based on ice time and the amount of tournaments the team plays.  Typically a PAHL team plays in four tournaments - two home and two away but could be more.  Add the amount of practice ice slots and 20 PAHL games along with any independent games scheduled.  Then do the math.  If a PAHL team is playing 55+ games plus 1-2 practice slots a week it is not unreasonable for a $3,500-4K spend.  Also look to see if the practice slots are shared or full ice.

Some may say the life experiences of living with a host family in a new city, and traveling the US and Canada while developing relationships with that family, coaches, and players all while pushing oneself to succeed at the highest level of their sport might be more beneficial than attending a dance at the Burgettstown Days Inn.

    To each his own.

I heard directly from a Preds parent that they were told high school hockey wasn't an option next year.  Not sure if they were correct, telling the truth, etc (I don't even know the guy he was talking to my brother) but hopefully he's wrong that sounds insane.  Maybe they changed their mind when parents got upset.

If my kid wanted to play high school hockey and club, and the club told him he couldn't play HS then I would move on and move fast.  Granted, HS hockey is not at the level of some AA and AAA level club teams, but kids love playing in front of their school friends.  I have watched numerous Pens Cup games this year and the vibe has been nothing but outstanding.

The Preds AAA level teams are a joke anyhow - did any of them make MidAms?

Sure it counts! But there are different perspectives in sport and not one linear path. Lift up all kids and do not insult those who have produced players.

This is not a dis to the players on the Preds U18 team, but do you really think a team that was ranked 105th out of 125 teams is “producing players” when they can’t sniff MidAms, get a game with a top 40 team while their U18 AA team was ranked higher?
