All the tier 1 teams, major showcases, along with big tournaments post their games. Tier 2, different story, it doesn’t really matter.

I just viewed the rankings for the first time this year. November just started, both of the predators midget “AAA” teams are already out of the district tournament, Embarrassing!

I can only tell you from personal experience, the flu in years past has been harder on us. As you are aware, hockey parents seem to pick up every bug from our kids, we always fight off a few head colds a year along with the flu or stomach bug. Myself, my wife and youngest did not contract covid from him, we all live in the same house. My sister is almost 60, she claims to have had flus in the past that were much worse than covid.

My Oldest picked up covid in September. He had a low grade fever for two days along with minor drainage that caused a slight sore throat. Like I said, we’ve had the regular flu run through our family that was much worse.

Nobody is watching 12 year olds, especially in western pa.

You made an account to post this ? It’s the flu, every team is going to get it, every player that gets it will be fine. PPE, esmark along with some Pahl teams all have cases. I’ve had two family members test positive, the “regular” flu the past few years made them more sick.

Anyone find it funny NY just added MI to their travel ban list ? This weekend in MI is Motown, one of the biggest tournament weekends in youth hockey.

There is a national database per say, It’s called elite prospects.

You can look at it this way - there are 1600 NCAA d1 hockey players in the entire world. So is your kid one of the best 1600 hockey players in the world with in 4 birth years ? I’d also add the 3rd goalie on every team is there to supplement income to the school for those scholarships. That 3rd goalie will never get into a game, ever, expect for unforeseen circumstances, but gets to practice with ncaa d1 players.

Don’t forget - the majority of the eastern players are not even from PA. They come from jersey, Maryland & DC into the Philly Market! With that said, I completely agree with everything you wrote. Excellent job pointing out these players are scattered across FOUR birth years, people always over look that fact!

Yes, both teams bring kids in from out of state and Canada. Esmark gets Russians and Western European players to boot! I would guess there are no more than about 20-25 real tier 1 players at every birth year in western pa.

There are 1.5 real AAA programs in western pa. PPE along with Esmark at midget. I’m going to show you an example that played out the the past few weeks. The Buffalo JR Sabers, legit AAA program. Buffalo’s 18s are notorious at falling off into the middle of the AAA rankings for multiple reasons. Since Buffalo can’t play in NY they are taking any games they can get out of state. (Have to justify that money parents are spending) 18U - Buffalo beat the predators 5-0, esmark beat Buffalo 6-2, PPE beat esmark 5-2. It’s very simple math. take this advice - there is no reason to play AAA below 13 years or age. If you want to spend the money, put it towards skill development & skating. Predators, icemen and whomever else are not tier 1 programs. Save your money, the highest level achieved by 99% of western pa youth hockey players will be a decent acha club team. I can point you towards hundreds of high end players from real tier 1 programs out of Michigan that are playing acha hockey. if you would like a local sample, got look up PPE over the past 5 years, kids drafted into the ohl, ushl & nahl, they are all either no longer playing or playing acha club. Go look up the top acha club teams, many of their players have played in the nahl.

That community is Democrat central, I would not be surprised.

Normally, they don’t get very accurate until late November. Add covid to the mix.

Ha! I haven’t followed the rankings very much the past few years. This early, plus add covid it’s probably not close to accurate, I doubt any teams will move up as the season goes on, just down.

Parents, that team (18U) was originally declaring tier 2.

Not sure why this old stuff is being rehashed, did something happen this weekend ? do was have ourselves a new AAA parent to the forums ? I will tell you this, coaches control their teams. They decide on lines, special teams, the amount of ice time a player gets. Your statement is completely off base or just plain foolish. Good coaching can achieve better than expected results with less talent. This can be see in any sport at every level.

Only one of my two boys played in PIHL. The experience wasn’t all that great for him. scheduling, refs and the way the league was run in general. With good leadership, it could become a great experience. My niece was going to play middle school hockey this year, I’m glad she opted to wait another year. Having young children put a mask on after a shift, when they need oxygen the most Is completely idiotic. Whomever came up with that policy should be fired, that’s a health & safety risk in my opinion. Are PIHL positions still payed positions ? the commissioner needs to go!

You guys should start a varsity league, it’s about time someone kicks PIHL to the curb!

My nieces team was told the rules will be similar to PIHL middle school hockey. Pahl is suppose to release the information later today. Mid Am also sent out emails today, back to non sanctioned games if they have over 25. Someone needs to fire the entire PIHL board, making middle school kids wear a cloth wet mask while they gasp for air on a bench that only has 5 kids sitting on it.
