Yes, I caught pitt vs rmu this year in person. it was good hockey - I’m not taking anything away from these teams. In my opinion the hockey played by the final 8 at the M3 nationals was better hockey than what we see here locally with M1 chma. I do think think my opinion is not that far fetched, these were considered the top 8 M3 teams in the country. I wished I would have paid attention earlier to see the entire Field of m3 but I dismissed it assuming it’s the lowest of the 3 classes. In my opinion m2 was the lowest of the three classes. The final 4 of M1 are clearly on a different level than all of the ACHA.
true but Lindenwold is going NCAA now. so I think their acha d1 team will now fall in the top 25 no longer a top 5 but I could be wrong. time will tell. But the likes of Lindenwold and Adrian they dominate just about every year

Players and organizations went there for the cheap ice rate. That's why Esmark did everything they could to move, the new pricing severely cut into their profit margins. You have to have something really good to get people to drive to that area.
where they going to go that can give them as much ice as they need though? I dont think anywhere else could house them and give them what they want. bet their fees go up next season

how was the turn out for this ?

CONGRATS to PT on winning class AAA !!!!!! At least 1 team made this side of the state proud.

TJ FALLS 4-3 IN 2 OT !!! HELL OF A GAME FROM TJ!!!!

Thats dumb. Should just be running clock. Whether winning or losing, they went to play. It's on caching for running up a score like that.
no no no you come to win period. its the finals. if you look they only had 23 shots and scored 10 goals......

looks like NORWIN got pounded 10-0 and there was still little over 12 min left in the third and game was called...... why not finish the game though ?

I do really like this idea, however I think you are severally overestimating the popularity of high school hockey in Western PA. Maybe things could change with the right people involved.
Bottom line is there is zero advertising done for this and its a damn shame. The Penguins should be responsible for doing a better job at getting the word out regardless of the venue. If it were to be held at PPG, then they should provide free tickets to all students of all schools involved, as well as free tickets to all players and families of local PAHL organizations that share a rink with those high school teams. Maybe then you have 5-6k people showing up, maybe.
someones kid obv plays for the Norwin team bc they where on the news the other day w game highlights and everything. but they said zero about the Peters township game.. so it is clearly IF someone has friends or family in places otherwise the city could care less about school hockey. this is a football city

Peters Township was pretty dominant last night despite a couple calls and missed calls that went in favor of Seneca Valley. The freshman #28 from Peters was the best player on the ice for either team. His skill and skating is impressive. I believe he was on a line with a sophomore #18 and they completely took over the game when on the ice together.
surprised ppe hasn't grabbed this kid yet. he is really good. why stay with that subpar shaha team. kid could go anywhere and be an impact player

Norwin vs Erie McDowell for A finals. both teams that won where deff underdogs and wanted it more. especially Erie. COULD they e the sleeper of A class to win it all? SURE hope so, would make a good story for the news papers

for u16 Mount Saint Charles has 1 of the at large bids....... wonder who has the other ?

The N Catholic varsity team played single A and one of the captains skated over to our bench when we beat them and said, “Well we’re rich and you suck.” Maybe angry about the amount of money spent to be beat by a public school.
well to be correct. they are not rich. THEIR Parents are rich, their just snobby off spring that couldn't make PPE.

AA is a toss up, but I think TJ vs FR will be a good Penguin Cup final.

Was anyone at the U16 AA final between Allegheny and SCIR? I heard SCIR won on a penalty shot in OT?
I did see the Barons PPE 06 final - Barons dominated and I am sure there are a few players on that team got the payback they deserved, but I assume PPE will get an at-large berth.
wasn't there son showed me via IG that game winner was in OT on a Penalty shot by their Captain. went 5 hole. was a nice way to cap of their season. they finally get to go to nationals bc they where robbed of it last Tim due to the Chinese flu

After this weekend they will drop outside of top 10. If you look at rankings , historically, midget teams ranked 11-15 are NOT guaranteed an at-large
doesnt matter u16 Esmark choked. CULVER won. and pens will get in via at large.......... YURI reign is coming to an end in pgh..with no u15 he is in trouble
NCDC
in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey

it is not a previous NAHL team. the Knights has teams in the elite and premier this past season they did very very well. they had put in a bid for a NCDC and was awarded it back in Feb.
