Agree--the same goes for me. At the lower levels of PAHL, I really do not care too much about getting assists correct, and often, I will take a coach's word for it. No one knows after the fact because PAHL does not compile such things. Kids and parents like to "brag." For higher levels, I definitely try to be accurate, and I often work with my partner to get the right numbers.

I assume no one speared anyone.

What will happen to the good 2009 AA PAHL teams?
TheRightCall replied to RJUSHL's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
As someone posted earlier either here or on a different thread, it is not absolutely necessary to spend tons of money to play AAA. My son played on a high level nationally ranked AA team who went to Tier 2 Nationals consecutively and made the Pitt team without ever going the other expensive routes. I’m referencing the recent high level Pitt teams. And, he didn’t sacrifice his high school years billeting out of town and missing the rites of passage like homecoming and prom. No criticizing here—just saying it can be done considering a lot of kids end up being behind a few years from going different routes. -
Haha--bottom line is the player speared the kid. Spearing is against the rules in a very clear and specific way. There is no "playoff" rulebook. Of course, with the modern society, the responsibility for one's actions has been eradicated by the "feel good" nature of people. No wonder our country is in such shambles.

Your hypothesis is a bit inaccurate, as I know of a couple ——-at least four Pitt players who did not succumb to the allure of the extra “A” and made the Pitt team and excelled. There is zero need to shell out tons of money to end up on the same place. -
Just because you know him and he is a "good kid" doesn't preclude him from taking an unwise penalty. Are you implying that this official is not experienced? How do you know? Granted, for a critical call such as this, I would have consulted with my partner for sure; however, if an official sees a penalty, no matter where he or she is on the ice, he or she needs to make the call. Again, you are implying that since he was the back official that he could not effectively make this call, which is not a logical statement at all. The point being that this player committed a spearing penalty in a big game; the rules are clear. There is not a different rulebook when playoffs come around; the key is for the officials to effectively communicate with everyone. But again, it was the player who committed the penalty; he only has himself to blame.

Agree, this guy has no business running any league, save for beer league somewhere. He is part of the good old boy buddy buddy old guard from PIHO and WPHOA.

I heard the outed official submitted video but I’m not certain. interesting that he haven’t returned.
-
Heard the poster who outed the official was handed a suspension from MidAM.

You lost everyone when you resorted to calling out someone by name. Since you know so much about the game, step up and get your ref credentials next year. You can show everyone how it is to be done. Wait, we will get the "I am too busy" excuse. I am sure Livebarn shows you as such a respectful person on the bench.

Messages have been sent to officials; they asked for availability.

Well said. This falls in the hands of USA Hockey and MidAm, two organizations that are run by incompetent people and good old boys. The incident report portal is archaic and very difficult to navigate, which is why many officials avoid calling penalties that require a report. Often, player and/or coach names cannot be located or a team is not properly listed. Right or wrong, this is a fact. I know some officials who take pride in what they do--few, but there are some. These are the people who when seen hitting the ice, the coaches, players, and parents breathe a sigh of relief. Then, there those who when seen hitting the ice, the coaches, players, and parents say, "Oh no--not this clown."
-
Figured you would respond with something like this. Clown.

What a classless post by another angry parent trying to live vicariously through his kid. Calling out an official while hiding behind a message board handle, nice. Who are you to question a call? A missed call? Gimme a break. If you are such a knowledgable hockey person, why not start officiating so you can give back to the game. You would most likely no be able to handle even a 10U B game.

Yep that needs to go away. On a side note, I heard the new person in charge is a trainwreck (shocking), he should never of been given the job.
