Montour Hockey

Recommended Posts

Sad thing is, if you watched Montour:

played as a team

moved the puck

pretty clean, not too many cheap penalties

balanced: 11 players with at least 5 goals, 10 with at least 10 points

Also, 8 seniors who have to end their high school careers this way bc adults knowingly tried to deceive the league.

Sad, but a good lesson.

I guess I don't totally understand why, after all the games were played this surfaced.  It surely could have been brought to the attention of the league much earlier!  Chances are very good Montour would have qualified without the goalie in question!  I guess we will never know.

clearly someone was upset that someone didn't follow the rules, and once their team didn't make playoffs and the cheating team did, it happened. Id also guess nothing would have happened if montour didn't make playoffs, we would never have had all this fun the last few days

Good Point!  Did the team that didn't make the playoffs know this all along and keep it in the back pocket?  I also have to believe there were rumblings about this all season!   It's just so sneaky if so. Persons most affected are the seniors for sure

Yout High School Team takes the School name The AD runs it if someone rotten goes wrong you will feel his wrath

At the end of the day, that's pretty much it. The AD/school district couldn't care less about the Montour hockey club, until something like this happens and threatens to bring negative publicity to the school district. Then they do care, but not in a good way.

I am not certain if this is why the rule is the way it is or not, but years ago Canevin would host the European players who came over to play for Esmark.  They got challenged (I think by QV) on these players not being eligible as transfers.  The lawyers for these European players threatened PIHL with lawsuits for preventing the players from playing when their visas clearly state that they are here for educational purposes.  So even though everyone knows they are here for hockey first, since the visa lists education, PIHL couldn't stop them.

No idea if thats exactly why the rules are the way they are today, but would make sense.

Completely false

Don't open your mouth if you don't know what your talking about

Foreign players must have a F1 visa

They can only go to schools that have sevis papers from the government

So only private schools with the exception of Mount Lebanon has them

You can have 2 Foreign players on your roster and stay in the division you are currently in

You can have up to 4 players but you have to play AA or AAA

QV complains and cheats any chance they can

They have a kid from another school district that pays tuition

About QV:

it is totally legal within PA to pay tuition to attend any public or private school.  Fact.  Like, most of the North Catholic roster!

I would think that the PIHL would put out a press release as to the reason Montour is not in the playoffs.  Feels like we are missing something from all of this!

What are we missing, the COACH got caught cheating 3 times this season.

I was wondering why you repeated yourself thru out this thread.  Was it the program, the parents, the players.  Thank you for enlightening us with your beef with the coach!

Nobody tried to deceive anyone…everybody knew where the player was from the entire season, the situation was disclosed and the roster was approved. There was never any “cover-up”.  If it’s the rule, fine, but don’t say that adults were trying to pull a fast one.  EVERYONE KNEW AND WAITED UNTIL THE SEASON WAS OVER TO COMPLAIN - FACT!  And yes, the highest scoring offense in the division is being held out of the playoffs.

Montour is most likely in AA if everything was done correctly.  The season plays out much differently.  JMO.

PIHL playoff brackets are out and Avonworth is in with Montour no where to be found.

Do you have a link to the playoff brackets as I cannot find them on the PIHL website.

In the other A division, Shaler has one game left on their schedule against Freeport on Monday.  According to the pic that someone posted of the A playoff bracket, the winner of the Shaler / Freeport game on Monday has to play North Catholic the following day in the first round.

Whether this "crisis" for Montour came to rear its ugly head last week or last month, does it really matter if the rules were not followed?
