dazedandconfused
Some of the blame, if not all of it, should be placed on the Vipers and their leadership for getting involved with him.

Slaphappy
You think Posey was the issue??? The Esmark Organization is who decided all of the AA for a money grab.Posey runs a couple of teams but is not Esmark. Goes back to higher up than him. It was a cluster from the beginning from what I hear.No placement games was ever scheduled and hell they never even had a practice for the U16.Many of the players had their jersey and new bags already but Esmark cashed the commitment checks and most thought all was good.Guess not. It really stinks for kids who thought they had a team tro play on this year and now have no team because they committed fully to the Viper Stars. dazedandconfused
It is my understanding that they are trying to convince some of those players to join the U18 team in order to save that team which has 15 players including goalies. The Vipers organization is a puppet regime for Kosick and Yuri to do whatever they want to. Leaving there was the best move we ever made.

rock
Lemmie go out on a limb here, your the type that probably doesn't have a kid that plays anymore, but when he/she did, you moved them all over the place blaming every organization that your so/daughter didn't develop, blamed the coaches, the parents, whoever you could.. and either flamed out or quit mostly because you pushed them too hard, or always thought they were better than they really where.. but its everyone fault but your own.. did i nail it?? howard1
I don’t know about Friday night, but goalie for the above team served suspension Sunday for slashing a player on Saturday at the philly tournament.

You were not there, I was. To begin, my son was 1 of the very few that did not take a penalty all weekend. For whatever reason, I feel like that is important to know. The game Friday was so biased from the refs to the tournament director. I am not 1 to comment or complain, my husband is a ref and a coach and the president of an organization. I tend to keep my mouth shut because I know how all the moving pieces work. I will not in this instance. For whatever reason, the ref's did not like our team. My guess is the kids probably gave them attitude in the beginning. But, the issues started the 1st rush to the net when the refs allowed 2 14 year old boys to punch each other while they sat by to watch. You give a 14 year old an inch, they will take a mile. And both teams did. Our boys couldn't even touch a Blazer player without getting called. It was literally the most one sided game I have ever seen in the 6 years I have been attending youth games. When we tried to talk to the gentleman in charge, we were told that we lost all credibility because someone said "bullshit". He then went and sat with the Blazer's parents and talked with them the remaining of the game. I sat and watched all of this. My son and his teammates were treated horribly by the staff, the ref and director. While the Blazers kids walked out of their locker room calling our parents "assholes" and their parents stood there and said "you should have let me beat her ass" our kids had to be escorted out by security. Security said "Oh, we have problems with that Blazer team all the time". Seriously? Then whey were they not also escorted out? Listen, neither side was perfect. Yes, our kids deserve red some of the penalties called. But, the other team was not perfect by no means. But, because they play out there all the time, they were given different treatment. I think that people need to be very careful when critiquing and judging 14 year old boys on a social media site. 14 year old boys are a mess in general. You add in factors like feeling ganged up against, pushed against a wall, and general frustration, they will do stupid things. However, that does not condone the way they were treated Friday night. I will not sit back and let people bash a team that has come so far all season. Friday's game was horrible. Saturday...yeah, that was on us...we had kids react negatively. By the way, the parents from that York team were no better than the ones the night before. Sunday's game was absolutely fine, from us to the other team to the refs. So, before you start judging and making up assumptions, please know the whole truth. A lot of people are waiting for the Viper Stars program to fail because of who started it. So, any type of negativity spreads like wildfire. Take away who started the program and look at it objectively and you would be appalled by what a group of 14 year old boys experienced while in Philly.
dazedandconfused
What a great tool that the internet is. We were not there, but Livebarn is and so I went to the DVHL website to get the 14U schedule which showed this game being played at Iceworks at 9:00pm. I only needed to see the first 38 seconds to realize that your long winded post begins with false information. At the first whistle in front of the Blazer's goalie there was an altercation. However, your assessment that the refs were out to get your team and did nothing is a completely wrong. They assessed a player from your team a minor and either the player from the Blazers a double minor or two Blazer players each a minor. YOUR team had a power play 38 seconds in. The refs made calls on the very first net front stoppage of play. I would say THAT in itself is trying to let ALL the players know that they weren't going to let things get started. This basically eliminates any credibility to the remainder of your post.

And if the refs called 5 + GM for fighting after mom drove 6 hours to get there and Little Johnny is now done for the 1st two games of this tournament then she would have been complaining about that.
rock
but if the ref did call a 5 and a gm which was the correct thing to do.. the kid learns a lesson (maybe) also gets a ear beating from mom (hopefully), but instead the refs screwed up, let it get out of hand and thus chaos ensued.. funny how that works, but nah it wasn't the refs fault.. never is.. they never do any wrong. you see it all the time, refs let shit go, gets out of hand, someone gets hurt, someone gets a penalty for nothing, then chaos ensues.. just make the correct calls from the start and none of it happens.. but whatever.. i know, i know shut up and stay in my lane.... dazedandconfused
The only call in question was the one with 2 seconds left in the first period and the only reason it's in question is because it's out of the camera's shot. There's no way that play in front of the net warranted a 5 and a game. The original post from the Viper mom insinuated that this game was a circus from the outset and that just wasn't the case in the 1st period. The penalties were 4-2 and if that one call made the coach dump the sticks in the first period of the first game of a tournament, then he definitely needs the same thicker skin as some of the referees. Not true. The play is clear as day on LB. It was a hit/non hit by the Vipers. I can pull it later. Was it a penalty? From the ref's (who called it) angle it looked like a penalty. From the other refs angle it wasn't. Regardless the coaches reaction to that call had nothing to do with protecting his players.

You don't need to know anything else about the game to know that the behavior was out of line. All the rest is an explanation for feeling angry, whether he was right or not to feel it, who cares. As a parent, I expect a coach to control their anger and behave accordingly. The kids...ya, 14 year olds struggle to control their emotions and reactions. The games I see, there is frequently bad behavior on both sides of the puck. All the more reason to demand that their coaches be good role models. It's just not defendable. Good that he owned up to it, but I would worry he'd do something similar again. If it was isolated, then maybe not.
