James Gatz Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) To make a Western PA connection, three PAHL 10u teams will be grouped with a Boston Imperials team at an upcoming tournament. All other teams in the pod seem to be comparably ranked on MHR. The PAHL teams are in Mid-A divisions (Major white and Minor black). The wildcard is this Boston Imperials team. They have no games entered in MHR and had no team in this age group before this year. Their website describes them as a 2014 AAA team and the organization describes itself as a year-round elite program. Any way to get a read on whether they fit in this grouping or if they are hunting for a banner? Edited November 9, 2024 by James Gatz
aaaahockey Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 What tournament company? I'd contact them directly and ask.
Icebucket Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 You never know how teams within a club differ from one age to the next, but in looking up to 12u, the Boston Imperials team would be competitive in A Major/Minor pahl. In MHR they rank out at 6 goals weaker than the lowest graded pahl AA 12u team. Maybe their squirt team is better, but based on peewee results they appear to be a club who is claiming AAA, but in reality is extremely far from there. 1

Saucey Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 And don't forget 10u is frequently a crap shoot because the kids are unknowns and develop so much in these years so even the best intentioned placements don't always work out. 1

Traveling to Buffalo to play against 2 other PAHL teams is the worst. Hate when that happens. Judging from their MHR org page, none of their teams look “elite” so you guys will be fine. Probably an independent org started by a group of jaded parents when their kids didn’t make the team they wanted. GH tournaments are usually ran very well and divisions are pretty even.
nemesis8679 Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 I'm pretty sure his tournaments are more determined by MHR than what letters the teams call themselves. He even will watch some livebarn to see where to place teams when there's any question. Good tournaments.

And here, they went out of their way to avoid the situation of PAHL teams traveling to Buffalo to play. They made a 6 team division and the PAHL teams won’t play until Sunday. 1
