So it starts

I always kind of laugh at the temperature checks. I would really like to know how many people with fevers are actually trying to go anywhere at this point. Shame on them if they are. Temperature checks can't hurt, but it's a very weak layer of safety.

So what do you recommend for safety? What can society do to get moving again? Or should we all just shelter till there are no more cases?

They are also enforcing that masks be worn, no spectators, arrive only 10 minutes prior to your ice time. If every local rink follows these guidelines and the parents and players respect the rules, I dont see why PAHL cant have a season. If I see a player or parent not following these rules I call them out to their face. It only takes one to ruin it for everyone. The rules are not hard to follow.

And you know there will be those that don't follow rules. That's the problem. That's also why it's so hard to get back to something close to normal. Almost nothing would need to be closed with masks, social distancing, hygiene & no parties. I applaud you for calling out the idiots. I just fear that those idiots will feel that you are getting in the way of their "freedom" and will be willing to fight for it.

When it comes to PAHL I think they need to run a very tight ship in regards to people not following the rules. Take the kids name and suspend him. If its the parents doing, ban them from the rink too. I'm so sick of stupid people ruining everything for the rest of us.

Hockey people must be doing something right. No major outbreaks reported for almost 2 months. Same with PIAA sports. That's why I don't understand Wolfs statement last week.

We all know what is going to happen. It’s going to turn into a shit show. Covid will pop up in the school, parents are going to freak out and keep kids home etc

Attention ctil20, forbin and Quinlan2020's of this board. We simply do NOT 'know' what is going to happen by opening schools, playing sports, etc. even if you think you do. If you Want to live in fear of your "What if's" then you have that right or 'freedom' as you so callously put it but I and many others do not want to live that way and that is my decision to make. I would never be so egotistical as to tell anyone how to live, what decisions to make for themselves or their family, even if it's not what I agree with and to call someone "stupid" for living differently is inexcusable. I did my time to allow for everyone's freedom, not just those I agree with and I got out when I saw the pure evil that is 'in charge' and I couldn't support what was being asked of me. I hope this turns back into a hockey board but the current conversations have no redeemable qualities right now and I won't be back. Yes, that is another 'freedom' I have in 'merica… good luck everyone and peace out.

Who are you to “call someone out” you don’t know anyone’s life and medical history.

Then don't come to the rink. Can't follow the rules? Then get the f*ck out.

Same principal as if your kid drops the mitts and starts a fight. He will be suspended. Or you get a smart mouth with a ref, you should be escorted out. Wear the mask, wash your hands, let your temperature be checked, follow the rink's guidelines or stay home.

Playing hockey is a choice, nobody is forcing you or your kid to be there. But while there, they are asking that the rules be followed. Is that too hard of a concept to understand?

You're just making the case stronger for those that would like to see the season be cancelled. I would like to see some form of a season with strict rules followed, but it's hard to convince myself that everyone will be on board with these rules.  As a result, I would rather have the season to be, at least, delayed until January and see if there is any glimmer of hope at that point.

all these ass hats screaming freedom, have no idea what freedom means. it's just an excuse for them to be selfish *(#&(@)$*@)*$)@*@)$*)@*$ weeds. Almost every case where one of these idiots screams freedom from the oppression of the cloth mask, takes place in a private business. The only freedom that exists is the freedom of the business owner to run their business as they chose and the freedom of the patron to not patronize the business if they don't like it. if an ice rink rink says wear a mask, wear a mask or don't go to that ice rink. try walking in without a shirt and see how long that lasts. scream about your freedom and i bet you go to jail.

No reason you need to be at the rink if you can't wear a mask or social distance. Why ruin it for the kids if you bring it to the rink or get it and blame the rink.  If you have a medical history I would think you would be smart enough to stay home.

What's going to be different in January. I would think that after 2,5 months of not many problems at the rinks we can move forward smartly. Can't keep delaying things with the hope that it will get better!

Just kicking the can down the road holding out slim hope that everyone can get their act together by then. The Fall season is going to be more of a challenge to avoid problems than the Summer has been.

Do you think games are more of a challenge than practice? Hasn't practice been going on for weeks now?  The potential problem I see is that people will get complacent again once the numbers improve and think that it's not as big a threat. I just hope associations don't panic if a few kids come up positive, Doesn't mean you have to shut everything down again.

I watched the MS games at Baierl and I will say, that even though it was 4 on 4, it was very entertaining.  Alot of good talent on the ice between the 4 teams.  Sure, it's not real hockey but at least it gives the kids something and I think they'd rather have that than nothing.

Baierl is pretty good with the mask rules, calling people out (kids and adults) that aren't wearing them.   They've tightened the reigns more and more over the past several months since they've been open.  I think they do a good job there.  Tons of sanitizer available, workers sanitizing everything after use; locker rooms, doors, bathrooms, everything.  And the stands are marked with social distancing markers, X's on the bleachers.  Now do people follow that, not so much.  So to the point of others in this thread, if parents can't follow the X's on the bleachers, then they will eventually spoil it for everybody.

Schools will be opening and more people will gather indoors as weather turns colder. There will be other common viruses circulating as well adding more confusion to the mix. I understand what you mean about avoiding panic, but recent history shows that slow reactions lead to major outbreaks. It's a fine line that I am not sure I trust many of those people involved to walk.

Good or bad, we will likely have a new president incentivized to make everyone think things are improving and a mass media designed to boost that opinion.

I think people are really hoping for a vaccine.
