Lifelongbender
A heartfelt essay about a topic that's been discussed a bit here on the board in the past. This sort of thing needs to be out there. https://thehockeythinktank.com/2020/11/16/decades-later-chicago-youth-hockey-scandal-brought-to-light/ The Hockey Think Tank is a great resource, by the way, in general. nemesis8679
Unbelievable. Also, why your kid and his safety need to be YOUR responsibility, not Safesport's, not USA Hockey's, not Coach Whomever's. Yours. And if you see or know something, raise hell. Whether it's your kid or someone else's.

sadday4hockey
Just like real-life politics, USA Hockey and Mid-Am along with I'm sure many other District governing bodies are full of long-term members. These members lose sight of why they originally got involved and before you know it they become part of the status quo. New members come in with the desire to effect change but they then realize that they themselves can not take on the majority so instead of beating them, they join them. It's a sad cycle that can only be changed if/when these lifetime members have limits put on their tenure so that new ideas and processes can be enacted and the stale ways of the same old-same old are put out to pasture with these people.
