I wish every poster on here could have the birth year and team their kids play for. There seems to be so many hidden agendas on here.

Wake me when the coaches make $40K and full benefits.

Unfortunately, the players would have all quit if they had to continue playing for the old coach.
We were left with very little choices on who to pick. Nobody was really lining up to coach this team or be involved in the league in its first year. Can’t blame anyone for that.
Only choice we had was a players father.Like I said. The league continued to look like a joke and guys were embarrassed to be a part of a league who continued to have games cancelled and teams drop out. What’s the point of playing these games when nobody bothered to send a decent squad to us.
Dude. You guys got played like a fiddle. Don’t come on here trying to pretend you had such noble gestures to die on your swords. Ice time couldn’t even get paid for.

Esmark should do all of these kids a favor and tell them to move on now. Instead they are on social media asking for more players to show up. Heard it was 12 players and a few goalies most of which weren’t true AAA level players.

There hasn’t be a 2010 team there for at least 2 years.
No. There probably hasn’t. I’m not talking about historical teams. I’m talking about last years 10’s to this years.

Probably won’t be AA skill level, more like A major black
I misquoted. They’re advertised as 16u and not 09’s. So take from that what you will. You’d think a few 08’s on the ice would improve quality but from the sounds of it they looked like they’d struggle against an 09 BY team.
The 10’s there had a ton of turnover as well and probably will be A major as well.

Honestly once you hit 2nd year Bantam teams are always a mess through Midget. Kids jumping around, teams disappearing, ..... Its just hockey. I could give you many examples from 2006-2010.
This is true. This birth year might be especially spicy, but it’s also a time of a lot of turnover as well.

supposedly less than half of the 2009 Allegheny team is going back there after winning both pahl banners?
I heard the same and the kids they did have show up were definitely no way near the same skill as last years.

Looks like parents in Detroit are burning their money as well. Glad @fafafohi and the crew have it figured out or what would we all do??
It goes to show it’s not an isolated occurrence.

I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion but there is too much travel hockey. All these organizations with 4 to 15283847372 sub A major teams would be better suited along with their families having a robust house program and only having 3-4 traveling teams per age group max.

Oh, if only that were true everywhere.
Hopefully they find someone with a coaching background and not just military
On 4/3/2024 at 4:31 PM, Law said:This is so wrong. He's a really good coach with an outstanding resume and he was dismissed because certain people on the board want to go in a different direction. The word is they want to find someone with a military background. Not sure if the last part is true or not. I wish John well. Just one of the perils of coahing HS hockey. You're at the mercy of the board instead of an athletic director.

that coach is a liar and not a good human being. Parents let their kids play for him the are not good parent. He calls kids names that their worst enemies wouldn’t call them. Basically a bully to kids. Parents are afraid to say anything cause he guarantees he is going to get them to juniors. That guy shouldn’t be aloud to coach. Ask all the refs and other teams. That guy is destroying Esmark’s rep. While you have yuri which is an awesome coach and really knows hockey. If you pay for privates with that coach you will play. It’s a business. Also tells lies that Esmark 2011 has #1 forward in pa. Already getting recruited for college at 12. Also smokes vapes on benches. Quits on kids like a baby. Not a man at all.
Idk who you’re talking about but if this person is that bad you should probably be reporting it to the police as child abuse, not just posting it here.

The problem with that is the level of play on travel hockey teams is higher than local HS, especially when you move away from the higher PIHL divisions. Also, if the player has any kind of goal of playing at a higher level, junior and college coaches are not sending their people to watch a PIHL game on a Thursday night, but will have people in Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh for a weekend to watch "AAA" tournament games. I understand the desire to play with and in front of your friends from school, but the decision should be based on what an individual player's future goals are.
The amount of people moving on are maybe 1 percent.

Are we sure that CV and PR actually won those games on Tuesday? It doesn't appear that the PIHL is certain. What's it take to upload some pictures? 8 minutes? Maybe 10.
Each month it should become more and more apparent to all the haters what a great job John Mucha did as Commissioner. This sport could use more people with his passion AND his ability to work with just about everyone for the good of the game.
Come on man. You know their work stops once your check clears.

Reminds me of mite cross ice when a team had an official team statistician listed on their roster below coaches and managers.

The 2010 Pens team didn’t look top tier even though they won. Perhaps it wasn’t their best effort. They won a game 2-0 and another was one pass away from being tied 3-3 going into the third. That team is the most vulnerable for 14u. A team with size and one that passes well will beat them. They had one game that presented an expected outcome.
It’s what. 13, 14u? Who cares. In 4 years they’ll all be playing club hockey if they’re lucky.

Any truth to preds u15 2009 not allowing kids to play PIHL hockey?
I feel like it should be the other way around. Any responsible HS coach should advise his players to avoid that train wreck A chase.
