I think we should put all the 09 parents in a hall of fame for crazy hockey parents for all the stories I hear.

Definitely crazy between the team switching every year and coaches + hockey mom stories are also crazy.

Hasn’t this coach lost numerous players following the last season and rumored to again this year to where there was no feasible way to have separate 08 and 09 teams forcing a combined 16u team?

he is also banned from the bar in their rink-didn’t pay a large tab. Upstanding guy

I'll be interested to see who they're able to get.  I've heard of 5 of their better players that made Predators.  Some others I know were at Esmark tryouts and I assume made it.  It looks like they switched up coaches.  The guy from last year that came in from Michigan isn't listed anymore, instead it's the father/son duo that coached their younger ages.

Heard like 10 skaters and a few goalies. Criminal they didn’t cancel tryouts and took their tryout fee

Was NHAHA doing well at PIA?? I don't really remember. The rink has struggled for years and some of the maintenance issues and other problems there might have given people a bad impression of the facility. I haven't been there in years, so I don't know if those issues have been resolved. I sort of assume they have fixed some of the more obvious and uglier issues, but people might be cautious of that as well.

esmark 2008-09 skate tonight-2 goalies and 20 or so skaters for 2 teams? Are their tryouts this weekend

Particularly the Esmark skates. I wonder if they can pull this off. They need to be working the phones hard to start again from scratch. It won’t work if they just rely on some gravitational pull to get kids back in the door and overcome the lost momentum from last year. But at the same time it wouldn’t surprise me if they end up with the second best 09 team in the region when all is said and done.

apparently they are having u16 players come to the u14 (will be u15 kids) skates so then it looks like more kids are showing up. mostly aa players at the esmark skates so far

Allegheny just posted its coaches.  No 08 or 09 just a 16uAA National Bound team.
Surprised to see the 2010 listed being that there was mass exodus from there Last year.

Interesting and no info on website if it will be PAHL, Independent, AHF, etc.

No mention of what tournaments or leagues.

Really confusing and heard from a dad on 09s the team wasn’t even informed of the changes and were blindsided.

It's funny, you are mostly spot on in my opinion.  I also thought it was a shame the Preds and SHAHA wouldn't combine and make a legit top team IF WELL COACHED.  I can't believe guys would drive across town again to pay a ton of money to play for the 2009 Esmark team.  I thought the reason everyone left was they finally figured out that the 2009 Esmark team was no better than SHAHA , PREDS,.....  and why the hell are we driving/paying all this money?  My guess is it will just be a long drive and a lor of money for a similar team.  Makes no sense.

And doesn’t Esmark do 2-3 tournaments that require air travel? minnesota/texas?

Can someone explain how PAHL does the rankings at the beginning of the season?  For instance there was a club that was advertising a AA team at a certain level.  The year prior they weren't AA.  Does PAHL take a look at the roster for the current year and then place them accordingly?  I just want to get a better understanding of the process.

    Thanks in advance!

I thought there was a formula for where each kid played previously (AA. a Major, A minor with points for each) and then added together and an average number?

Looks like that’s what they posted, dont know if the 2nd team players actually accepted or went elsewhere. Their top team looks solid with a couple AAA add ons. Same with Allegheny.

did north pittsburgh or rebellion get any aaa players? Or does it seem to be Icemen and Allegheny looking the strongest

Yes, they did. Unfortunately for a lot of the kids they did it late enough that they couldn't try out Tier 1 anymore. Tier 2 will be very good in Western Pa this year. I also heard they are not refunding  any of their tryout fee's even though they folded the team. Not a great look on their part!

also heard Friday that they deposited the commitment fee checks from parents  for the 09s even though team folded.
