I’d have to think it went like this if the above tiebreakers are accurate.

McDowell gets the 7th seed over North Hills and Greensburg Salem based on least number of penalty minutes.

The tiebreakers reset for selection of the 8th seed.

North Hills gets the 8th seed based on their win in the head to head competition with Greensburg.

That is probably true. And a ridiculous system.

actually not, North Hills claimed the final playoff spot based on their head-to-head win against Greensburg-Salem.

But Greensburg Salem beat Erie McDowell. Erie McDowell beat  north hills. north hills beat Greensburg Salem.

They all ended up with 24 points from 20 games and they all won 12 games.

Did the PIHL make a mistake?

How about life in general?  And how often do we see something positive or constructive posted about?  Most people believe the internet and Forums are for complaining! We have seen a few positives like the Sam Kelly night post!  But mostly it's negative. that's life!

Google “Negativity Bias”. It is a real thing

I hear that Seneca Valley, North Allegheny and Pine Richland Varsity teams will all be there to show their support as well as show the community that hockey is for everyone and the events at the Armstrong game are not tolerated nor acceptable to other teams/players/coaches/fans in our area. The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Girls, along with many other local girls' teams, plan to attend and wear white jerseys in support of Willow!!!

Congrats to Ty and his family! The journey has just begun!

I haven't seen him play that I can remember. What about his game put him in this position? He doesn't have elite size and he hasn't exactly put up a ton of points, even at 15U and 14U with the Pens, where I would've thought he'd dominate.

I know it doesn't apply to Ty, but it was nice to see so many college kids get drafted the past few days. It even seems like there's an uptick of USHL kids getting their name called! I'd love to see that trend continue.

Natural athlete from an athletic family. Dad was a competitive ironman triathlete and a fitness trainer. Ty skated with a skill level above his peers from a very young age.

only 1 player born after June 24; meaning 96% of players selected born in first 6 months of the year   This is why birth year is still a bad idea - it doesnt align with draft or school year

Sure they do if their "real" home is a $10M mansion somewhere else, and the townhome is just where they're living during the season. You don't think that every single Penguins player has a home somewhere other than Pittsburgh? Lots of Penguins players have rented local homes from former players over the years. And what a shock - alot of those homes are in Mount Lebanon, right next to the rink they used to practice in frequently. That's why Kunitz, Dupuis, and Adams all had kids playing at Mount Lebanon when they played here. Because they lived in rented houses there. Despite the money they made.

Of course he could be making 6 or 7 figures and live in an inexpensive home near the rink. That's just silly.

Mueller lives here full-time in a condo.  Fact.

Not sure why you’re arguing with yourself.... but I’d be willing to bet that he lives in one of the newer $400k townhomes that are popping up all over the place up there. Which would make total sense.

People that make 7 figures don’t live in 400k townhomes

PPE brought in $2.5 million in 2019 and ended the year wirh assets of $200,000. Can easily be looked up online on guidestar.  However they don’t  list thier top 5 paid employees. It’s hard to say where the money comes from for coaches and staff, with the blurred lines between Excel, PPE, and UPMC.  But Excel high school program is $17,500, so they have the needed revenue to pay well.

If Mueller makes that much then why does he live in a townhouse in Cranberry? Also very easy to find online.

Brian Mueller was a Vice President of 200x85 and the Coach of the 2003 Chicago Mission. At that time there was no chance for PPE to beat them so........... they bought him and his star player whom just so happened to be the grandson of Rocky Saganiuk. Who is Rocky Saganiuk you ask? A former NHL player who also had a lucrative business in Chicago called Rocky hockey which was a great program and was 8U ADM before USA hockey joined the bandwagon. Rocky now oversees the Little Pens program and does a great job with it.

Now back to the 6 figure coaching salaries. What number do you think it took to uproot these guys from their existing lucrative  jobs and their families? Hint: there's a better chance it was 7 figures than 5 figures.

    You must be new here.

There are a lot of people on this forum that firmly believe western PA rivals other hotbed hockey markets, which clearly it doesn't.  Have you looked at a PPE roster lately?  More and more kids are imports from out of state and word is with recent PPE tryouts many local kids from last years teams got cut and are looking at other options.  Vengeance, Lebo, Preds are all comprised of local players yet those teams can't compete with PPE...........I wonder why?

I am not salty about anything, just stating facts.

Exactly.  Western PA produced a kid who is at the camp...exactly zero kids at that camp from ohio or eastern PA! That kid played AA through squirts. Don’t hate on a talented athlete that western PA AA and AAA hockey helped develop!

Show me where their hometowns are listed.  They aren't and there's a reason for that.  My feelings aren't hurt.  My daughter got the same opportunities in college as most of her former PPE teammates, so I am not shedding any tears, smarty-pants.

Your original post said that the rosters are hard to find.  You weren’t clear about the hometown being connected to the rosters.

I also never said anything about your daughter, just pointed out that you are wrong about automatic PPE spots for SSA players.

Speaking of local teams, I am baffled at how Steel City 16U Tier 2 advanced to the Quarterfinals when they are 0-3, while a team with one win didn’t advance, nor did another winless team with a better

Looks like across the board, both boys and girls and Tier 1 and Tier 2, Pittsburgh teams arent exactly having great results at Nationals. Exceptions being PPE U16 and U18 boys

On the boys side, PPE U16 is the only western PA still playing, no other Tier 1 or Tier 2 got further thab QF, and almost all didnt win more than 1 game. U18s got smoked 6-3 in QF.  Is Pittsburgh really a hockey hotbed?

To an extent, PPE is a joke because they import kids from out of the area.  Several years ago there was supposed to be a rule where they would only have a few out of town kids, but that rule went out the window when winning became the sole objective.  So in my mind they really don't do a whole lot for true "local" kids.  I know a number of local kids who went to Cleveland, Maryland, Culver and played there rather than PPE.  One of our kids lost their spot on PPE when they turned down playing for SSA (because we couldn't afford $25k for high school).  All the kids who played (female) SSA also never got cut from PPE.

There's a reason why they make the rosters hard to find for PPE and never have any BIOs for the kids, it's because most of the kids nowadays are from out of Western PA.

PPE rosters are always easy to find on their website.  I know of two SSA girl players that got cut from Pen Elite.  Someone has hurt feelings
