    Anybody play games this past weekend?  How did your team play them?  Local only!  Don’t want to hear about Cleveland, etc.  You don’t have to name your team.  Just trying to gauge what teams are doing locally.  Playing full games, full benches, full contact, and what rink?

    We played Pee Wee in a tournament in the Hershey Area. It was 9 skaters and a goalie, 1 coach. The kids played 2 halves of 5 on 5 hockey. You could switch players at the half. Was it perfect no, did the kids seem to have fun absolutely.

  2. One more thing to note is the Vote on September 1 is probably to get it out of committee. That doesn't appear to be a floor vote. My Senators office said the bill is several steps away from reaching her. While she supports the decision making at the local level a position to vote is not firm yet as there could be many changes prior to getting to her.

    IF all varsity is suspended until Jan.  All PIHL teams should immediately stop practicing and buying ice until Dec.   Rink owners would be forced to close or ask for govt assistance and may have a better voice in allowing restrictions to be lifted.  If we all keep paying,,,, they can keep dictating what we do.

    Just like PAHL, PIHL team have annual contracts for their ice time. Unless there are rink closures due to the pandemic I don't think any teams are getting out of their contracts. So not paying isn't really an option.

  4. Maybe I missed it but was there an update shared from the PAHL meeting last night?

    Also when I spoke to my state reps office earlier today I not only asked for their support on the bill but asked them to consider sponsoring an amendment to cover amateur sports teams as well. I said with out an amendment of that type it freezes out amateur hockey, AAU basketball, Inline hockey, competitive cheer, gymnastics and on and on. It affects school ages kids and many activities. We have to help hem see the big picture.

    Found this definition on the internet.  Pretty clear that an Ice Rink is a recreational facility.

    Recreational facilities means any building or premise where people assemble for entertainment or social, relaxing including sporting purposes, amusement park, sport centre, billiard-room, skating ring and a public or private sports club facility, but does not include any building or site for a gambling premises, place of entertainment, functions or adult entertainment;

    We would need a similar definition to be defined by the state if ice rinks will be covered.

  6. Pennsylvania House Bill 2787 is scheduled to be voted on September 1, 2020.  This Bill has the potential to alleviate the 25 person restriction for indoor sports by putting the power of determination within the school districts (“School Entity”).  In addition – with the current bipartisan support – it has the potential to pass with a 2/3rds vote that would invalidate a Veto by the Governor.  As it stands right now with current sponsors of the Bill, there would only need to be another eighteen (18) members of the House needed to reach the 2/3rds majority needed (136 out of 203).  The PA Senate will need 34 out of 50 to vote for it to be VETO PROOF.

     Please spread the word and have everyone and anyone reach out to your representatives for your district and ask them to support this legislation.

      ALL, here is the best thing you can do if you want to see your kids play hockey this year. This is coming straight from a USA Hockey friend -

    tell folks in PA to contact their local officials, State Representatives, and / or Senators to help raise the gathering limit for indoor sports to 50. There is nothing magical about 1/1/21, that date is nothing more than a place holder by the PA Governor following political party lines. PIAA did get some help from PA state politicians to get football going.

    Any NP / Foxes families on here?  Anyone happy about what their own orgs are proposing???

    We are an Arctic Foxes family and what you are saying about aligning with more restrictive plans of some the rinks/ PAHL teams does not align with what I have heard from leadership in the org.  Additionally someone suggest that Foxes would toe the line. Let me tell you, there is no line to toe. Just like every other rink owned by a large organization, RMU and Dave Hanson make the decisions based on risk and their risk mitigation strategy. As such every other org at the at rink must abide by them. That goes for Foxes, PIHL, In house adult leagues, inline everyone.  Don't believe me look at what has been happening up at Penn State and Pegula very similar if not even more restrictive. Rinks that belong to a larger entity must protect the larger entity. Unlike smaller private rinks they can withstand the financial losses.

    Here's a bone to chew on. Apparently the NA Varsity Coach, still stewing about the drubbing his team took at the hands of Pine Richland in the Saint Margaret's Championship game challenged PR to a "rematch" since they won't play each other again this season. Using the premise that he was simply rolling lines in the Championship Game (brilliant strategy) being what lead to the defeat, he wanted an opportunity to "play to win". Bad idea. Result was one goal worse. Second time 8-3 instead of 7-3. What a toolbag.

    I'm neither a fan nor a resident but Pine Richland can be described in one word. DOMINANT.
