That is probably true. And a ridiculous system.
the overall tiebreak system/process is fair. But I agree that it can be improved, especially since the fourth tiebreak comes down to a coin flip!

Of North Hills penalty minutes, 4 players took 141 of those. And that cost them a spot in the playoffs.
actually not, North Hills claimed the final playoff spot based on their head-to-head win against Greensburg-Salem.

Tiebreakers to be used for teams with identical point percentage shall be as follows:
- Highest points percentage in games against teams involved in the tie (Head-to-Head Competition)
- Most wins in regular season
- Least number of total penalty minutes (average per game) in the regular season
- Coin flip
Greensburg Salem, North Hills and possibly McDowell will clinch 2 out of 3 remaining spots (Head to Head between these three teams is 1-1-0 so this will come down to Penalty Minutes to break the tie if McDowell beats Plum)
Current Penalty Minutes
Greensburg Salem 182
McDowell 182 (McDowell plays Plum tonight at 630 at Center Ice)
North Hills 208
Current Penalty Minutes -- should be:
Greensburg Salem 214
McDowell 186 (McDowell plays Plum tonight at 630 at Center Ice)
North Hills 241

it doesnt even attract the best kids, most of the best kids for west where at the chowder cup
you are correct about Chowder Cup. Unfortunately many of the "better" players do not play HS hockey.... if I am not mistaken, KSG participation is for Scholastic/HS players.

And say what? That a bunch of middle age men who spend far too much time online bashing local hockey have determined these kids contracted the virus at IC? Because they can unequivocally say that these boys never left their houses since early March and never interacted with anyone except who they live with. Gimme a break. They have been hanging with friends, going to restaurants, some may have gone to the beach or a protest, got a hair cut, went to Trader Joe’s for their mom, etc. There is no way to pin point exposure. All you are doing is spreading rumors which is irresponsible in the current state of affairs. Heck, chances are they were exposed multiple times.
it's called contact tracing. When someone is tested positive for Covid-19, the protocol is to identify the places and the other people whom he/she has come in contact with. Those people will then need to get tested.

Here is something funny, I heard that same Minnesota HS story about 15 years ago. I’d bet it has happened but it’s folk lore. look at the kid who’s parents sold their house and lived on a house boat on Lake Erie so their kid could play junior hockey.
what about the family who would travel 2 states over from PA so little Johnny can play "AAA" and to get scouted? Who are we to ask or judge? It's to chase the dream... LOL

well, I am not that ignorant to know about secret handshakes/winks and having player names penciled in before tryouts. But heres the icing for the cake. This Tier 1 team in OH have their tryouts scheduled in mid July (as posted on their website), but then there's a player who already posted about being on the team today (June 29th). For the rest of of us who didn't receive the contracts, we should just stay home and save the $110?
