I have said it many times on here for many years, If all the wanna be AAA teams (teams ranked higher than 50 let's say) would play PAHL AA it would be a great league.  Sure the bottom one or two teams would struggle but how many times do you drive 5+ hours and smoke teams in a similar fashion?

People that think BB's league is an answer are delusional.  Look at the rankings, it is not much better.  It is very much just current low level PAHL but with more travel.  If the Faux AAA teams all played in a local league it would be great.  Then do four or five high level travel tournaments playing other teams ranked 30-120.  It would be great competition.  Sorry, had to chime in and beat a dead horse.

Again, who cares what other kids are playing. I’ve found PAHL AA parents are the ones who didn’t make whatever AAA program they are bashing. And don’t act like PAHL AA is a Powerhouse. Every blue moon there is a legitimate good team, but most often they’re just mediocre when put up against other non PAHL teams.

PIHL is a joke as well, unless you’re in the AAA division.

For the last time stack the pads is obviously Montour parent probably on the board. You willingly tried to hide the kid/cheat. Regardless of what the judge “felt bad about “you cost these kids the season. No one believes your flimsy story about he really “wasn’t “a transfer.

and you must not know any other sports, because if this was football or basketball, this would have been an even bigger deal.

Coach quits in the newspaper. He cheated,  kids were the ones impacted , he walks away. What a low life. I’m sure montour wil. Try to spin this into a we were innocent or targeted. Meanwhile, they cheated by not having any paperwork. Funny how none of the montour accounts on here have any proof. That coach should be embarrassed for how he used that district.

PIHL should cone back and bury Montour Hockey program.

Suspend them from playing the next two years for taking this to a Judge.

My friends that will teach anyone a lesson trying to do this crap ever again.

I don’t think anyone will argue that they feel horrible for seniors.

however, this should be a call for the parents in that program to have the entire board and coach to resign and never hold a post again. They are the sole reason for this. Sad parents ruined it for kids.

Here’s a thought:  Perhaps the manager volunteered late to the game because there was nobody else willing to do it.  Perhaps the manger has a real job or some circumstance that prevented them from attending the “training”.  Perhaps they didn’t want to miss the new episode of Law and Order.  Perhaps they thought to themselves “it’s only high school hockey”.  I don’t freakin know.  All I know is that people are quick to blame others for everything and thinking everyone has a hidden agenda.  That’s why we have a shortage of VOLUNTEERS at all levels.  Who wants to put up with this?  We get it- you are all perfect people, never making mistakes, documenting everything, and always quick to place the blame.

Go back the 20 some pages. It was already mentioned the manager was the house the billet was staying at.  Regardless, if you Take on the job, you still have to do it properly.

Obviously….guess his master plan to go from montour to the Montreal Canadians was foiled (insert menacing laugh).  High school hockey program in shambles lol.  Give me a break.  How ridiculous.

JV a parents take over board and 1st they First  drives off coach who won Pens cup, 2nd they get blown out last season, 3rd they get suspended from playoffs for ineligible player. Think they’re be more Humble now.

Why would they waste their time filing it then?  The only way it makes sense is if they can get a temporary injunction today to hold up the playoffs or get included. I'm sure the Attorneys who filed it planned on that!  Otherwise it is a waste of time that I don't see a prominent law firm wanting to get involved with!  Am I missing something?  I've seen other PIAA sports have this happen and a judge rule before the championships. More individual sports!

They’re filing it to try to get themselves off the hot seat and try to make the parents and kids think it wasn’t the boards/coach fault.

its obvious they tried to skirt the rules. Sure the coach just wanted best chance to pad his resume. Obviously he didn’t care about what would happen to kids. I’m guessing he’ll walk away next year and leave it all behind while the program is in shambles and embarrassed.

Seriously flav, we get it. You are another montour parent. Everyone here has gone over and over what the issue is & why it happened. You are literally beating a dead horse. Montour is out. I don’t see the injunction they are filing with the courts doing anything but dragging their own name through the mud longer. You montour folks don’t think PIHL is prepared for things of this nature ? They wouldn’t have DQ the team and denied the appeal if they had any fear blame was on them. I’ve been talking to few coaches in AAA & AA - they all say the same thing - montour got caught. One told me the montour board doesn’t not have a registrar, how is that possible ? Sounds like the org was ruined by parents, now run by incompetent parents.

Again, blame board and coach. That’s the end of it. They should have been overly cautious to make sure kid was legally on roster. That simple.

A lot of blame to go around , who reported, why, when, etc. it all starts with coach and board.  Buck stops there.

What I don't quite understand is why the Montour parents are directing their anger at the PIHL instead of at the Montour coach/board.  If the coach/board are claiming they didn't know they were breaking the rules, then shame on them for not reading up.  It's not like the PIHL rulebook is 500 pages, its a 66 page doc (and of the 66 pages about 15 are blank or index pages).

    Sadly agree.

of course everyone feels bad for the seniors. The coach and board knew better. No excuses. I’m sure they’re trying to deflect blaming PIHL or the “we didn’t know” card. The new board and new coach take over after they run clay out. the JV parents who clay talked about really did    Mess this up.  Someone pointed out they were top offense too. I didn’t realize that. Makes it even worse. Those seniors deserved better. Board/coaches again got in the way of youth sports.  Joking aside. Lose , lose situation.

To keep it from getting buried....

The student is a billeted player, unless a court-appointed guardianship is in place between the player and the hostfamily. This does not pertain to foreign students who have been approved by USA Hockey

Is the student a billet, living with somebody other than his parents out of state for the purposes of playing hockey? YES/NO

Did the student's parents sign over guardianship to the billet family? YES/NO

Did Montour submit the paperwork to have this student treated as an exception to the Athletic Intent rule? YES/NO

Did PIHL approve the exception paperwork? YES/NO

    Seems pretty straightforward to me.

This is probably the most logical. It should’nt be this hard. Either the paperwork is there or it is not.

Ok I’m done here.  Sure most are happy that I’ll bow out and that’s ok.  The misinformation I was seeing posted was killing me.  I have never got on any boards and post anything but some of this misinformation was hurting my head.
It will be what it will be and I agree with some of you on that.  I am a rule follower by nature so I agree there too, gottta follow them.  Seriously,  peace to all of you.

Montour dad had to hurry to the board meeting that’s why he had to “bow out”

It’s funny how it’s somehow about this kid just trying to have fun.  If that’s the case, he played the games so he had his fun.  Too bad it was at the expense of the other kids who actually live there.  I hope the board and coaches are happy they may have ruined a season for their own egos.

ita looking more like old clay wasn’t the problem like the board and JV parents claimed

I was thinking about this earlier but decided not to comment about it. Clay was such a stand up guy and got pushed out. Then they replace him with a coach who's biggest knock is that he is a win at all cost guy. Could be completely unrelated, but just seems like an odd coincidence.

Doesn’t seem like new guy has done much either. He Got the benefit of moving to Single A and getting a “aaa” goalie

  13. Live in district. My son doesn’t play hockey, but it was buzz of his hockey friends today. They said the team manager specifically took the kid as billet so he could play. Coach asked someone to get a goalie bc montour president kid was goalie but was horrible. Seems like they were desperate to get someone since post Clay the board made shambles of program. No way this was a coincidence. Guess kid is leaving to go home as soon as aaa season is over too. Didn’t really want to play varsity but kind of had to with billet family being team manager

My niece playing still makes me follow some youth hockey - mainly midget.

I took a look today at the rankings - its only the start of October, already the predators “AAA” & Vengance “AAA teams are eliminated from the district tournement. This is one of the main reasons you play tier 1 - to make the district tournement. This is like a never ending story. By October the faux western pa teams are already out! So I have to ask the parents with kids on these teams - WHY ? I don’t want to hear better competition, there are western pa PAHL teams ranked higher ffs. SSA isn’t a tier 1 program anymore.  I don’t want to hear better coaching because the guy running the south hills midget teams is a terrible coach showing up for money. I hope it’s not the my kid plays “AAA” ego because that’s pretty embarrassing to see this many AA teams ranked higher.   I am really trying to understand the thought process. Every year this song is on repeat.

U18 midget over all district rankings

U18 tier 1 district rankings below  - culver hasn’t played enough games. Culver will take a top 3 spot. did the icemen go away ? 10 teams in the district once culver enters. A team will probably need close to a 94 rating to make top 6 and the tournament. Current 7, 8 & 9 are sunk and done for the year.

I think someone else said it to, but enough of the AAA or "faux" AAA talk.  Who really cares anymore?  I feel like the people who bring it up over and over again have kids on AA teams and they want to try to make some weird point that their AA kid's team is better than the kids on AAA teams.  Hell, they even rip the Pens AAA.  Nothing makes them happy. Let's face it, in the end, 99.9% of them end up playing on some club team or going to some bad jr. team or just end their career until beer league.  Just let the kids play whatever overpriced, underpriced, bad coached, good coached, or whatever platitude you want on the teams.  It's just youth sports.  Period.  The U16AAA or U15AAA, or whatever other AAA program is out there is going to end up doing the same thing.

These threads are old and repetitive.  Isn't there anything else going on in Pgh Hockey other than rehashing this same drama?

I wish people would chill. I coach less and less each year. Every time I find what I think is an insane parent free zone, someone comes along and spoils it, sitting in the stands to yell at their 8 year old who still has trouble keeping his shoes tied let alone figure out defensive zone coverage. (And tell them wrong things, to boot.) There is no such zone, I guess. I purposely sought out some really low level stuff, thinking no one will take that too seriously and I can't believe the behavior. ?

You are chasing the coaches as well as the refs away, too, you crazy people.

I still do it because despite the behavior, the kids make it fun. But I can definitely see the day when I will be done.

I dont think people are going to chill anytime soon. hopefully you continue to tune out parents or give them the exact answer to the questions they have.  I've seen parents humbled by coaches who gave them honest criticism of their kids instead of empty, sugar coated responses.
