I think that you’re glossing over my point.

My point is that when the usual and customary hierarchy of (*almost) every organization’s competitive ranking of their teams ranges progressively from “B” to “AAA” and there’s an obvious misrepresentation of the organization’s competitive hierarchy…then this is obviously a glaring problem. The Preds can be grouped into this category as evidenced by their “AA” PAHL team demonstrating unquestionably superior peer rankings (or by any measurable metrics / analytics / or comparison of competition through common opponents); when compared with the same organization’s “AAA” Independent team…this is what I am highlighting as my point. Not what level of advanced scouting that is in attendance for their team’s PAHL “AA” games. That doesn’t matter here.

The fact that the AA team garnered outside interest at all in the first place (and the AAA team did not) is what is glaring about the whole situation to me. It further illustrates the perceived talent gap between the organization’s same age composition of their top teams. When we look at the price difference involved between the AAA team and the AA team and then look at who’s really benefiting…this should become clear…which is my whole point.

That AA coach has a really good track record

When they start a ten player league let me know. And I still think your ten player team from Canevin is at the bottom of AA and would get scorched in AAA. AA and AAA teams draw from very large numbers of kids. AAA and most AA schools are from higher income areas that have more kids that play hockey than kids at lower income schools. They not only have more numbers, but they have more numbers of highly skilled players because of it. Canevin had one kid on a AAA roster this year. A bunch of quality AA players too. Look at the rosters of some of the rosters of some AA teams. Loaded with AAA and AA players.

Wrong about number of AAA players on Canevin

You shouldn't open your mouth if you don't know the facts there is no way you played at Canevin

  3. Your not in AAA because you are good it's the size of your school they do try to move schools to different divisions to be more competitive but they don't look to see how many seniors are leaving from year to year

Every year there is 2 or 3 good teams in each of the 4 divisions any of those teams could beat one another on any given day after that there is a big difference each division is top loaded

BC beat CV this year and CV went undefeated BC tries to play other schools in different divisions but they don't want to play it doesn't look good if you lose to a D2 school I get it

BC did pretty good at AA 8 pens cups just because they are small now doesn't make them not a good team

When BC plays TJ Lebo CV Baldwin USC ect in summer league they never have a problem winning granted it is summer league

Nobody has done there homework on how many D2 kids play at the next level? Way more than the other divisions

PIHL has made teams go straight without caring if they had enough kids to field a JV/V team.

Canevin has a middle school team but no middle school and never a jv team they only have a high school so there is no feeder team

And middle school team consists of mostly kids that will play for there public school in high school

Canevin is a good team in the open class. They wouldn’t compete in AA OR AAA. No chance. And it doesn’t matter unless they can get enough kids to go pure.

38 kids in the freshman class so won't be going pure anytime soon

    8 pens cups not bad

Latrobe beat Canevin 8-0 and Armstrong beat Ringgold 9-2 two years ago

Canevin had half there players for that game

And you hired the worst girl referee I have ever seen for that game it was hilarious

Preference why Canevin doesn't play in that tournament anymore

You really shouldn't bash teams not good for business

If you didn't try to pay 35 dollars to ref a game maybe your tournament would be better

There is not an open and regular division. It is Prep, Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Yes, you do just sign up. Any school can apply. If the 1A, 2A or 3A teams cared about Nationals I am sure they would complain to PIHL.

    Open Teams play 1A

Once again you just don't sign up

    Next year things will change

    Where you at nationals expert?

The top D-2 Teams have come to some of my tournaments and Carrick won it in 2014. Ringgold & Canevin competed and also played some games and got outclassed. If you wanna run with the big dogs, get off the porch.

I wouldn't call losing to top teams by 1 getting outclassed without having some of there best players because they where out of town for the holidays

You do know that they volunteer to go to Nationals, they are not picked for it. Again it's the house league of Nationals. You have Tier 1 18u, 16u, 15o, 14u and 13o and Tier 2 18u, 16u and 14u. Then you have High School which has 4 different divisions Prep, Tier 1, Tier 2 and Girl's. BC plays in the 2nd lowest division (out of 12) just above the girls division.

Let's take the top 6 in D2 and play the stellar six and see what happens?

  10. 2 teams from here can go to nationals

    1 in the open division

    1 in the regular division

The best team from the open division is rewarded by the league and the commissioner to go to nationals

So no you don't just sign up

If PIHL would move the playoffs up 1 week States would be over and one team from 1A 2A or 3A would be able to go

It actually kind of makes you question the BC coach. At some point you have to have a little bit of an understanding how wide spread the level of ability at the D2 level is. Do you really need to have your top line racking up points late in the 3rd when you are already up by 13?

That coach s terrible he should sit his seniors in the 3rd period in there last year of high school hockey or have them pass 5 times before shooting you must watch CNBC!

3 loses in 3 years and went to Nationals 3 years in a row

Who would want there kid to experience that

I don't want to make a case for the D2 kids because I haven't seen them in person, but it appears the Stellar 6 Player from the A Blue division also got nearly half of his points against some really awful bottom 5 teams. And quite honestly the other half of his points came against the playoff teams in that blue division. And if the playoffs showed us anything it's that other that CV, the rest of that division was also pretty bad. Is he a good player? Maybe. But he probably only gets a fraction of those stats if he played against the likes of QV, Shaler, Indiana, GB, Meadville, NC all season. Not taking anything away from the young man, he led the team to the Pens Cup, Undefeated Season, Freshman and all that, but it's the same situation.

    BC beat Cv this year

More kids from D2 have been drafted or moved on to the next level than any other division

    Do your homework

    Burrell/Carrick/Bishop Canevin/Ringgold/Neshannock

There was a kid who was a stellar 6 2 years in a row

    Couldn't make his club team

And this is why you can’t have stats.  Would you trust this guy?  There is at least one on every team. His kid probably has phantom secondary assist on every goal he is in there for.  As someone previously said - the parents ruin it.

    Good point

His kid plays on the forth line because they don't have a 5th line

Why exactly do we need all these stats? Tier II and lower is not typically where you find your future NHLers. The league does have a huge recruitment problem, however. My team kept stats usually so the one time I needed them in over a decade of playing, I had them. I think it would just make the insane landscape....insane. I am fairly certain that a few of the posters lamenting this belonged to teams who heavily recruited.

I don't disagree that PAHL could use some updating. Kids are on social media. Even PIHL has done a great job in the last few years promoting kids and the league. If they don't want to publish individual stats, they could do other things. As can individual organizations. When a kid gets a hattie in a game or goalie gets a shut out, for example. So much is volunteer driven, however, and the fact of the matter is that people crap all over you. A lot.

Other sport teams use max prep or elite prospects

But for kids to get looks from colleges this counts weather it's D1 to D3 or club
