Quinlan2020 have you figured out that you are very much in the minority here. It seems that your opinions are not shared by anyone. You seem to enjoy arguing with everyone. Not sure what's up with that but I guess someone has to be like that or this forum would be very boring.

I understand what you are saying. I don't agree that it is being sensationalized. It's a global pandemic. The US isn't the only country considering this a major crisis/catastrophe. I would hope that we would not wait until hospitals are stretched to react. There are a lot of folks that feel as you do, but telling the other people to move on and not worry just won't work. We can't change each others mind on this. Do you not think that things would get even worse if we just went back to 2019 style of living. Cases would rise dramatically. many more people would die and the economy would struggle even more. I guess you don't see it that way. We have to try and meet in the middle somewhere to get through this.
I agree we need to meet in the middle. I know we can never go back to 2019 way of life. But we can't continue at this level either. Isn't meeting in the middle what we are doing now? Some limits need to be tweaked based on the fact that most people are adhering to the mask and social distance requirements. I'm not saying all or nothing I'm saying reasonable measures and quit sensationalizing the pandemic for personal and political advantages. While a lot of people are suffering economically a lot are also getting rich from all this.

I think Alpha may have Live Barn now
If they do it's always offline!

Does anyone know if Alpha is still having their Tournament this weekend? 08 to 11 AAA teams. If they are it would be interesting to see what format they are using for play.
No live Barn at Alpha so no parents or spectators would be a real bummer.

I don't know if 25 is OK or not. Those decisions aren't something I am qualified to make. I will say that it seems unreasonable to me that the number 25 is used no matter if you are in someone's house or in a 15,000 square foot building. So if they feel that 25 is adequate for a house, it should be higher for an ice arena. Green Phase was a big failure this summer and that's why these restrictions are in place. We can thank the beach goers, bar hoppers & grad parties for this situation. The people failed to use common sense when we had the opportunity. It is very reasonable to ask for more leniency with the restrictions that are applied to ice rinks. I just am not so quick to blame government for where we are at with this. I hope that the people in charge at the state & county level will give this another look now that the situation in our area has improved. I can just understand why they are hesitant considering the bad behavior of the summer. I just don't feel it is in the kids best interest to get angry about all this. It is what it is. I would be hoping for the best but willing to work within the restrictions if necessary.
So you say that you think 25 for all situations is unreasonable but you are willing to live with it. That's the difference between you and most others on here. Seems like they are willing to at least try to get this adjusted. If you were looking at the stats as this all spiked in July and August it was mainly young people who were partying as they do. They have to learn and sometimes the hard way. But within that the hospitalizations didn't rise proportionally and reach critical phases as they did in March. PA hospitals have never been stretched to the limit. Fact is we need to learn to live with the virus. Even with a vaccine it's not going away. I think we need to quit publicizing the numbers. Will they publicize the numbers of Flu cases this fall? What about the numbers of people who die of heart disease per day. When will the media stop sensationalizing this?

Quinlan2020, Just one Question. Do you think the 25 person indoor limit is OK or should it be revised upward? I'm just curious but guessing from your stance on this forum I would say you are ok with it and feel that Wolf knows best.

This is a list of All Allegheny County State Reps. I bet 80 percent are Democrats who voted no.
You can get the same lists for other counties by modifying the search.

this may not be a popular idea, but i read something pages and pages ago about how the scorekeeper isn't part of the 25 because they are sequestered in their own area.....has anyone thrown out the idea of temporarily putting up plexi at the benches (players would have to use the doors to get on/off the ice) in order to create additional pods. 25 on each bench, 25 on the ice? just a thought.....
Anything would be a good idea. The Pod concept is being used in Allegheny County for Football. But right now Allegheny county is more restrictive than the State on Outdoor gatherings. Whose going to ask the state if they would go for it?

There are a whole bunch of Allegheny County Democrats that voted no. If your State Rep is a Democrat chances are they voted no last time. We need to get after them to let our kids play.
-
Adam Ravenstahl District 20 up by Millvale needs to be contacted. I would imagine this is SCIR Renegades Territory. He voted no last time.

We need that list to call those who are voting no.

I don’t know if this was posted before but this came from PIHL today addressing a modified format for JV/MS games.
The outlook for Varsity looks bleak.https://assets.ngin.com/attachments/document/edba-2240900/PIHL_Modified_Game_Structure-2.pdf
A lot will depend on how well the virus is controlled thru Football and Soccer seasons. Although I think the best shot is the passage of the proposed bill by 2/3rds vote.

I’ll send a text to the good dr who owns alpha, I would be willing to bet he would have scir remove your daddy 10u coaching positioning if he was informed. The man is thinking what the rest of us are, he’s got a business to run. He was fined by pa for 3 weeks in a row for opening early. I’d bet you took your “scrub” team on the ice to get them ready for tryouts during that time ? Hypocrite. I’m surprised the SCIR board hasn’t told you to shut up yet, you are making them look bad.
Interesting! I thought Alpha never shut down. Heard Vengenance was practicing all spring!

I guess I'm just peeing in your kool-aid. Don't worry most of your friends here will still drink it. You know that all my points are valid and represent the majority of US citizens. That's why my presence bothers you.
Not sure I would agree that all your points are valid. I must be in the minority!

The Wolf bashing is red meat for this forum but it won't actually get anything done. I want a fair solution to this. People like you that get out there with the King Wolf/dictator stuff will only hurt the cause. It just creates more division and makes you sound like a big baby.
Hopefully the Wolf bashing will get people to realize that he has been the worst Governor this state has ever had. I sure didn't vote for him! My biggest complaint is that he doesn't even try to explain the rationale for what he does.

It still doesn't make sense as to why its 25 indoor and 250 outdoor. Those numbers just seem completely arbitrary to me. Let's just throw some shit at the wall and see what sticks. When you have a neighboring state like Ohio where the number of cases and deaths are very close to the numbers here, and yet their indoor limit is 300 it just makes you really think...
Change it to 50, or better yet 100 and we all shut up and get back to hockey talk. Some will be happy (the majority of this board) and some will complain and want to stay home and that's completely their choice to do so.
Agree 100%

The unfortunate thing is that there is an entire section devoted to Sports that people seem to try and ignore going the Recreational Facility route.
Yes thanks for sharing. Didn't see the Sports Guidance Articles before you pointed it out! Bummer! Just another confusing situation. I'm guessing then that an open Skate could have 50% occupancy.
Thought I was on to something! Too Good to be true! Haha

We would need a similar definition to be defined by the state if ice rinks will be covered.
Look up the Mt Lebanon Rink. It is defined as a Recreation Center. Seems pretty clear to me. I bet the rinks could get together and hire a lawyer or I bet there are Hockey Parents who are lawyers that would take up the fight just as the Carlisle Car Show did.

Found this definition on the internet. Pretty clear that an Ice Rink is a recreational facility.

50 people in a 35 degree, 20,000 square foot building Equals a lot of social distancing....
Scooby Doo you seem to have connections at PAHL. Why aren't they considering rinks Recreational Facilities? They are allowed 50% occupancy. I'm sure that's more than 25 people.
