New President who is in support and the other Administrators are gone. NEW Kids are starting the movement and gaining momentum and support with school.

I was just doing a little research the other day and couldn't find anything other than it was a 4 year ban that would be up in 2024. They do have a girls club hockey team listed. Not sure if it is very viable at this time.

Particularly since, if you look at Esmark's rosters at the older levels, they have fewer and fewer local kids rostered every year. That's the same complaint for PPE. The young local kids funding the rest of the older out of state teams.

Is that because they are trying to keep up with PPE?  Rumor has it the really good 06AAA team at SHAHA is folding.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Esmark try to get a few of those really good kids, even though their tryouts are over and team was picked.  Brutal time of the year!  Tryout season is the worst!

  3. Danner, what do we know about Chatham?  Is it a good program?  I know they are D-3 and don't offer athletic scholarships, but is the level of competition good?  How would they stack up against Pitt, Duquesne or IUP?  Just curious! Also will RMU be back next year?  Haven't heard anything about them.  I see that Chatham plays their home games at Hunt Armory. Haven't been there yet.  Will it continue to be a thing for the winter months only?

Winning is all that matters for some.  And winning means new opportunities.  That Aviators 12UAA team 1 is going independent next season.

Sounds like it could be the next Faux AAA team in the area!  Too good for PAHL! Time to go independent!  Who wants to be the commissioner of the Faux AAA league in WPA!

Thanks all for the insight it is very helpful.

Just for clarification my son was in a AA org but in his minor birth year and thus they placed at single A level. Not saying that is an issue as they were placed in the right spot. My son at times did seem to shine, obviously I am biased, so I thought it worth the shot to let him try. At the worst he now knows what the kids there look like on the ice.

Never hurts to try! Just as you go in with eyes wide open.  Please let us know what your son thinks of the experience. Just make sure he knows that sometimes being the best out there isn't good enough for PPE.

  6. Actually thanks for the specifics!  Sounds like some of those parents went off the rails.  Good to put it out there.  I sure hope their organization reads this and talks to those parents.  What you described is totally unacceptable behavior.   Even if it's just a couple of parents the rest of them should tell those parents it's unacceptable.  At the end of the day it's only a game and the kids are supposed to be having fun and learning good sportsmanship.

Talk about crazy parents. That 12u AA aviators team takes the cake in my book.

So did that team beat yours?   Seems like the Aviators are building back into a solid program.  Nice to see a smaller program have success. What makes the Aviator parents any crazier than any others?  Just curious!

  8. I'm just really disappointed that no one is talking about D-2 Hockey!  The Ringgold, Canevin game was probably the best of the finals.  Didn't even get a write up in the paper.  It's like it doesn't exist.  I commend those  12 schools for trying to have a Hockey program for the kids. Even if they don't have enough from one school.

I watched all 4 final games on Trib-Live.  They did a great job.  From what I saw D-2 was very competitive.  Not as deep as the other Divisions.  But to not even get a mention in the paper is sad.  Who ever knows Keith Barnes from the Post Gazette should ask him why he doesn't cover D-2.  PA Hockey do you know him?

Oh and good luck to Canevin at the High School Hockey Nationals.  I hope they represent SWPA well. Probably won't hear about any results unless you look.

  9. The older you get the harder it is to make PPE teams.  They invite kids to the tryouts. Unless you are invited you have very little chance to make it.  Most AAA teams around here are stocked by kids who once played PPE and were cut for whatever reason.

Some of those teams are almost as good as PPE.  How many PPE teams made it to Nationals this year? Maybe 1?

  10. Game Managers need to check the rosters better moving forward. Needs to be a better check. Hard to know for sure who is on the bench.  I like the idea of signing in before the game in front of the game manager.  Still can cheat but it would be a lot harder.  I bet if you looked closely at other teams with AAA players you will find a lot listed that didn't play enough games.  As long as there are championships to be had there will be people who try to cheat to win!   Dozens of Pro examples for sure!

Judge specifically states Montour’s innocence… so in reality Montour did no cheat but was cheated of the opportunity to compete.
    1. “While I am troubled by the impact of the facts as found on the innocent and highly successful Montour Hockey Team, the law compels me to find that Montour failed to meet the prerequisites required to issue a preliminary injunction.”

It's OVER! Time to move on!
