Going to be especially important this year as there seems to be tons of overlap.

So for 2010
PV - 4/15-17
Esmark - 4/15-17
Aviators - 4/17-19
NP - 4/13-17
Foxes - 4/15-17
Crazy...roll the dice this year.

I heard 18U A Major had a couple crazy finishes
Something about Lebo pulling their goalie on what they thought was a penalty but was really an icing call that was negated and the Foxes scoring an empty netter to win it.
Looking at the website, looks like the Foxes then went on to beat the 1 seed by a goal and then lost to the 2 seed in OT. I'm sure that was exciting if anybody has any more details.

Feel free to post tryout dates in this thread but there's a conversation I did want to get started.
Perhaps I've never noticed it in the past but is there much more overlap/conflicts in tryout schedules this year? It's like the organizations are forcing kids to make a decision and stick with it and whatever happens...happens. There may be alot of good players without homes if they get cut from their incumbant team. Of course, I think we all know there's a way for some of these kids to find their way onto another comparable team, backup plans so to speak. But it just seems that this year is going to be do or die with all of the conflicts.
Thoughts?

A goalie can steal a game anytime. And the BH goalie is really good. If they win it will prove all of us thinking that the blue was a lesser division wrong.
I think the Moon goalie proved this last night

One is not a trend but man, if the Blue picks off even one more Gold team in the play in games, that'll be interesting.
I think Blackhawk has the best chance. If their goalie is hot, he's unbeatable. NC is very good though, I think that will be a good game.

I heard your number 1 ranked Mars team fell to an underwhelming, unranked Moon team from a lesser division last night. Can anybody confirm?
Confirmed, 3 to 2.

Class A has been set. QV, Indiana, CV and Avonworth get the byes. If these rankings hold true ..Gold should be a clean sweep. With the WV teams out of the picture, Blue has some underwhelming teams in the playoffs based on records. I guess it's a shame Meadville didn't make it because of these dumb division structures.

I know it was early in the season or pre season but I believe shaler beat avonworth 9-1. They seem to haven fallen off for sure haven't beaten a top team in in a while looking at the pihl website
And I believe somebody said Avonworth tied NC in the preseason. In other words, who cares about preseason. Teams are playing JV kids to see if they can cut it in regular season.

Shaler seems to have fell a bit. What's with Chartiers having such a good record but being on the bottom?
They are in the division that apparently doesn't matter

There will be 6 schools from Blue and 6 schools from Gold. If you started Playoffs today 5-6 Beaver would get a spot and 8-4 Mars would be out ?
Which is why loading up the one division was a dumb idea. If this is, in fact, the playoff scenario.

Any truth to the rumor that PPE is bringing back black teams up through Bantam?

He doesn't consider that a real division. They are the A 1b and aren't as good as the A 1a teams.
I guess they should all quit and fold up shop then.

So CV beats the formerly undefeated Avonworth to stay undefeated and they still aren't in the top 5?
Interesting.
-
16U AA seems like a clear top and bottom.
SP....yikes.

Dunno Richland and Westmont. Erie and Meadville. The RMU teams together. Seems some assemblance of geography. But also some head scratchers like all the Baierl teams not being together.
-
Looks to me like Class A divisions are geographic as well. Maybe it's a little bit of both...competitiveness and geography.

Didn't avonworth tie north catholic? And shaler beat avonworth 9-1
I don't think you can gain much from scrimmages. Teams are looking at JV players to see if they could be added to the Varsity squad.
Avonworth has a pretty solid squad, lots of sophmore talent and good upperclassmen leaders on that team, I doubt they are 8 goals worse than Shaler. But I do believe Shaler is the team to beat in A.

Icemen 18U "AAA"
Currently tied for 15th in the Mid-Am District Tier 2 rankings.
It's a shame how they bamboozled familes on that team. What else is new though with that organization.

I think NC scrimmaged Avonworth at UMPC last night.

See some 16U scores rolling in...I assume group 1?
Indiana 1 to 0 win over SCIR
SP 3 to 1 win over Lebo
Huskies 5 to 4 over Preds
Interesting results
Any other games?
Why do so many orgs schedule right on top of one another?

I like this idea. You know you have a team and are provided something in writing, however you still need to tryout for the organization so that the coaches can make accurate comparisons of potential new players. And if you don't have the heart to tell kids...sorry you're not cutting it, then maybe you're not cut out to be a coach.
I know a kid who was the leading scorer on his team last year and thought he had a good relationship with the coach and decided to only try out for that team because that's the only place he wanted to play (it was a PAHL team). Low and behold, he was cut for a bunch of "ringers" and now he's scrambling to find something. Just a crappy situation to be in.
