  1. No way 12 teams end up in 16u AA.  My guess is the following based on what I've heard of team makeup from other folks.

Allegheny, Lebo, NP, Steel City, Rebellion all get one team in.

Huskies, Indiana, Armstrong, Shaha, Preds...at least 2 of these teams will be on the outside looking in.

Maybe I'm way off base, it's just my opinion.

By the looks of things 16AAA and 16AA in Pittsburgh should be a little more competitive with Shaha dropping out at 16 and 18 AAA.

Seemed to be a shakeup on most teams at that 16U in the area.

16U AAA Looking like Pens, Esmark and Vengance should be at the upper end.

16U AA should be Mt Lebo, North Pitt and Renegades pushing the upper end of AA.

16u AA is going to be competitive.  I'd add Steel City and Rebellion to the mix.

  3. This is across all ages.

What's the solution here?  Raise commitment fees so much that people really do care about losing that money?

North Pitt I believe automatically cashes commitment fees if you make the top team, you don't even have a chance to decline.  Is that a/the solution?

It's not going to stop this year, if anything there's going to be so many people pissed off after this year, I think it gets worse next year.  And more people will be dipping out of teams at the 11th hour.

Yes, yes…Look no further than Preds or Icemen teams from last season.  Truer words have never been spoken.

however, I would say both Icemen and Preds are both diluted AA teams supplemented w actual A Major types trying to get that extra A.

lose a lot of games, pay twice as much and travel a lot more for nothing to play for at the end of the season.  But, there is a customer base for that so kudos to Icemen and Preds for providing the ego based money grabs.

So I’ve had a few pops. Neighbors just went home. Probably shouldn’t respond. But I’ll give it a go.

There is so much wrong with this comment. Do you think that what we’re doing for our 12 year old children is about hockey? You do know that 99% (probably more, actually) of 12u PAHL players have no shot of long term development as it relates to NCAA Div 1, or some level of pro hockey, right?

This isn’t about ignoring morales for the sake of development. It is about providing our young men and women the opportunity to develop a passion and learn life skills along the way. If they aren’t doing both, I want no part of it. Some people might think it’s ok to sacrifice one for the other. I won’t ignore the parental ‘model’ behavior for the sake of teaching my kid to make a few more dekes. We won’t see eye to eye on that, ever.

So you're saying that as long as the parents are cool, it shouldn't matter how the organization is run?

The "brawl" on the ice lasted maybe 10sec and the BRAWL in the stands looks like a parent fell down the stands (because Frozen Pond doesn't have stairs in their bleachers) and someone got upset, yes there was a crowd around him but the 2 guys that jumped in actually helped the guy stand up and when he got up he raised his hand as a thank you and apology.

Why does everyone have to make stuff out to be bigger than it was.

I have seen "brawls" last longer at Mite games.

Well that definitely was a dad fight at the end, not somebody falling down the stairs.

  7. Ok, so I'm going to do this again

The student is a billeted player, unless a court-appointed guardianship is in place between the player and the hostfamily. This does not pertain to foreign students who have been approved by USA Hockey

Is the student a billet, living with somebody other than his parents out of state for the purposes of playing hockey? YES/NO

Did the student's parents sign over guardianship to the billet family? YES/NO

Did Montour submit the paperwork to have this student treated as an exception to the Athletic Intent rule? YES/NO

Did PIHL approve the exception paperwork? YES/NO

Seems to me that the last two questions are what need to be clarified.  I would have to imagine that PIHL can still approve the roster if the paperwork wasn't filled out correctly because PIHL would not have known that the kid was a billet.  That would alleviate PIHL of any responsibility in the matter.  However, if the paperwork was correct, and PIHL did approve via some sort of documentation, then I would agree that PIHL has some culpability here.  We keep coming back to this darn paperwork don't we.  Where is it?

  8. I've heard that PIHL is not delaying anything and it's business as usual.  That confidence is high.  Take that for what it's worth.  I guess PIHL is communicating with schools and schools are communicating with parents because of how public this is...and because playoffs start tomorrow.

Dude, save it with the Avonworth martyrdom story (“did it without last years two goalies” “missing main players from last year”). You went pure,  deal with it! Can’t have it all.  Don’t like it, stay co-op.

Yeah pretty sure he's not an Avonworth fan.  But I do agree with your point.

Sure it matters. If they were told in November or December and had to Forfeit 5 games they would have still made the playoffs!  I do find it hard to believe that "everyone knew" except PIHL!

Well, assuming the goalie is then ineligible, it's questionable if they would have been able to stack up enough wins with the backup goalie.

Do you have a link to the playoff brackets as I cannot find them on the PIHL website.  And as of now, in the standings Montour is still listed as the 2nd place team in their division.  In the other division, Shaler has one game left on their schedule and if they win, they are in unless Freeport owns the tiebreaker.

It's on the home page.  It's the only bracket with the first round filled out.
