Is there one birth year you are specifically referring to here?
Yeah, 2007s, sorry didn't mention that.

My expectations heading into this year would be as follows:
PPE - top tier as expected
Esmark - basically the old Vengeance team plus a few. They've played together, I expect good results from them. Plus it looks like they got a couple Russian imports.
Vengeance - totally new team, going to take a while to gel. Wouldn't be surprised if they struggled this year. I'd say the goal here is probably to get better as the year goes on and finish strong.
Icemen - see Vengeance
Vengeance and Icemen would probably be better off playing some top AA/low AAA teams this year. I know alot of the kids on both teams and while they have talent, there's something to be said about teams that have played with each other for years.
-
I've also watched a couple and, as expected, the checking rules aren't even close to being enforced. Saw 3 kids engaged at the same time with 1 player. Saw plenty of hitting well after the puck was gone. SSDD.

As always, enforcement will be the most challenging part.

2007 ppe goalie filmed a 07 Vengeance player tea-bagging a kid that was sleeping. Well that’s the rumor anyway. Safe sport hasn’t charged anyone yet but kids are suspended from ppe and vengeance. Midams sent a couple kids home second day of camp
Current or former Vengeance? I think that whole 07 Vengeance team is gone with the exception of a couple. I assume former since the invite was based on last year's performance.

I'm hearing that the 2011 (or Squirt) year is having big goalie issues in general, just ask NP.

Might have been poorly worded. But, if they want to join the Icemen, great. Everyone has to pick a team that they will be happy playing for. Hockey is a long season. Kind of tough if you aren't happy with the team, coach, etc.
I agree here. I know a kid who wasn't happy with his placement on his PAHL team, he would have basically played in the same tier as last year and he was certainly undeserving of his placement. He caught on with one of the local AAA teams and is obviously happy about the challenge. I do know that he wouldn't have left his PAHL team if the org would have just placed him appropriately to begin with. In this case, it wasn't about chasing the extra A, it was about getting the right challenge for his skill set.

What's going on with the 07 Vengenace? I heard alot of them left to go to Essmark? If true, feels like they have some holes to fill and would be at risk of becoming a good AA program instead of a AAA program.

The "final" schedule just went up. I don't see MD anymore, but I do see NC now.
You can follow along:

I see LiveBarn is locked for the Grundy arena.

According to PAHL calendar, placements for 12U and up were supposed to be decided yesterday.
Anybody hear anything?

I watched the MS games at Baierl and I will say, that even though it was 4 on 4, it was very entertaining. Alot of good talent on the ice between the 4 teams. Sure, it's not real hockey but at least it gives the kids something and I think they'd rather have that than nothing.
Baierl is pretty good with the mask rules, calling people out (kids and adults) that aren't wearing them. They've tightened the reigns more and more over the past several months since they've been open. I think they do a good job there. Tons of sanitizer available, workers sanitizing everything after use; locker rooms, doors, bathrooms, everything. And the stands are marked with social distancing markers, X's on the bleachers. Now do people follow that, not so much. So to the point of others in this thread, if parents can't follow the X's on the bleachers, then they will eventually spoil it for everybody.

North Pittsburgh. Why they are so late compared to others is beyond me.

Yeah, I don't care for his tact. My mite did a couple 1 on 1 sessions with him and said he would follow up with us to let us know which group sessions would work for him. Never called us back, even after a couple follow ups by myself. A little courtesy callback would have been great here, even if he didn't have room for my son.
That's why I'm a fan of Clif Loya.

Pretty sure RMU Hockey Academy is doing this stuff for free.

I heard Altoona lost their best player to Viper Stars 08 , which so happened to win A Major Black by beating a team that should have been in AA (Erie).

Yetis are meant to play in PAHL, yes? PAHL does not support BY except at Bantam AA minor, which has its own problems as noted in other threads. What are these organizations selling parents currently to promote BY in a market that can't properly support BY at the moment, anyone know?
I think it's to appease the parents that want a non-parent coach, promising that's what they'll get, but then not delivering on that promise.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if PAHL fees increase more than usual given the influx of players into the open market.
-
At least that's the word. Should make for interesting PAHL tryouts.

For the most part, your mite coaches will be the same coaches for squirt. So, if you are happy then no need to look around. Usually, there are only a couple of kids that evaluate higher than the rest of a mite team. If this is your kid then he will probably have one of the existing squirt coaches as your coach next year. So, you should have a clue who the coach could be at your organization.
Totally understand, unless your Mite is in an "independent" organization like RMU which only connect to the Foxes via the rink.
-
Anybody have experience with their child making the transition from a Mite Red team to squirt? Typically where did you see your child shake out during squirt tryouts? I'm guessing the results are going to be all over the place (PPE to Squirt B), but just looking for first hand input.
Thanks

To your point, last year SCIR had two BY teams in AA U12. The second team should have been an A Major Black team but I assume egos with parents and coaches got in the way of reason and they were placed in AA.........they went 8-28-3.
https://myhockeyrankings.com/team_info.php?y=2018&t=16939
And now they can barely field a A major black team. There's quite the gap between their PW independent teams (07SCIR and 08 Veng) and their top PAHL team.

I wonder what that Dad was thinking he was going to do. He went out there with a mission, then probably realized that he done effed up after a couple steps on the ice and then covered it up by making it look like he was saving his kid's helmet.

Yeah, pretty much aligns to my sentiments that teams that have been together will most likely trump teams that just played their first two games together....talent being similar.
