You are 100% correct and the biggest obstacle sits at the top of the local food chain. Squash any competition at any cost. Designate players as "Elite" at 7-8 years old. Is this for the good of the sport? Or to fill the coffers?

Very valid! The top of the food chain is there so the pro team doesn’t pay to have a practice rink and to move along certain kids!  see the owner and ceo kids!  Mario is part owner of the ushl team that drafted both of those kids. Mario’s kid couldn’t cut it in the ushl and I highly doubt the other kid will even get there.

  3. Ralph was doing this 5 years ago when my son played there. With that said it’s nothing new in hockey.

Pahl & pihl no longer let teams pull this anymore. Suspensions have to be served in their respective governing body games.
if a team is independent there is really nothing that came been done. Ethics I suppose are at call here.

Christian Gorschak Esmark Stars (Other Tier 1 Programs) 2000 BY just signed with Niagara University Division 1 NCAA

He played 3 years In the NAHL. He didn’t commit to any NCAA team while playing youth hockey for esmark.

Great achievement for the kid! Not knocking him at all. He appears have put in the work. My point these younger kids that “commit” to ncaa programs are all from PPE.

my other point 90% of these kids that “commit” to a ncaa program at the younger ages will most likely never play for those teams. Those programs just have the players rights if they turn out to be something special after a few years of high level junior hockey. It is EXTREMELY  rare an 18 year old makes it onto a ncaa d1 team.

I read a article last year Penn State alone has 60 “committed” players at the 2002 -2003 birth year. With only 23 skater(?) Spots on a team what’s the chance 5 of those 60 02 & 03’s make the team ? at that point, are they on a full ride ? Probably not.

lol, yes, yes it is, so let's just stay bizarre. While people did refer to Ryan Malone as Upper St Clair, Ryan Malone did not. I remember an interview with him and another player, who i forget, but they asked the other guy something about PGH and he said, "why don't you answer that, Ryan, you're from PGH" and Malone scoffed and said, "i'm not from PGH", so the other dude says, "really, were are you from" and Malone says, "Minnesota". I remember it kind of irked me, he had a chance to give the local kids a hero and chose to poo on it. But he probably left so young, he hardly recalls much about here, so fair enough.

but all this talk about how kids have to leave, i'm not buying it anymore. PPE has consistently been having kids sign NCAA commitments for quite a few years now, it's only a matter of time before someone breaks in. I only mention PPE because i know some people who's kids have played there so i've been on the website. kids in other AAA orgs around here are probably signing commitments as well. but it is a shame we don't have a model more like Minnesota HS.

Unfortunately the ONLY tier 1 (AAA) program that gets attention is PPE. There are no kids on the “other” tier 1 teams signing any ncaa d1 commitments. Most of the players who have signed commitments were identified at 14 years old (bantam major).

with that said committing to a ncaa college doesn’t mean the player will ever make it to that level.

  6. If the kid played at a major NCAA college like brown AND made it pro. he was born with a gift, I really doubt any local coaches had much of anything to do with his development. High level prep school is where the kid learned to use  his “gift”.

    my two cents!

It's a suspension from MidAm/USA Hockey. That would carry over to any other team and preclude him from Coaching.

It was communicated to me the other team this coach coached is considered AAU and not under USA Hockey, the other team no longer wanted to be associated with said coach over the charges and suspension he received.

I get parents are a huge problem. However, call me naive but, people claiming these coaches that got suspended for a year simply because a parent complained? Come on, I have to believe that these matters are taken seriously and that a suspension of that magnitude isn't going to be given out just because some parent doesn't like the fact their kid isn't getting playing time.

Safety sport violations can follow you to court and your job as well. They are incredibly serious. As they should be.

Too many parents and coaches do not understand safe sport. A lot of coaches take the class and seem to forget what they learned. Safe sport is there to protect everyone even the parents. the West Allegheny coach got suspended for a year! During my time watching my kids play over the years I’ve seen coaches do some pretty stupid stuff and only get a week or two suspension. This guy had to do something egregious. PS @Entitled yesterday you wrote a 5 paragraph reply and quickly deleted it. I’m guessing you deleted it because the post made it very obvious you are the former coach at WA. Remember this is the internet nothing gets deleted for good.

I can tell you what exactly this is about it was not Colorado it was midam. It about shitty ass board members that cant handle responsibilities and a parent run organization.  It was nothing but kids being cut, parents being told that their kids suck and being cut, and mid am Todd Naylor being put in his place that is now butt hurt. There was parents that tried to play good with the coach thinking it would do them good then going behind his back because kissing up does nothing for this coach it is all about earn ur play time. The issue is that some of these children have been handed everything and when they weren’t handed a spot or playing time parent made false allegations.  Yes False!!!!

I had to re-read your post again because I still am shaking my head about what you wrote. While doing so I realized I missed you said Todd Naylor was from mid am so who really got put in their place now ? Crazy parents such as yourself are who ruin the game for kids. Your attitude only reinforces the side of the story I was told.

wow. Kids suck ? It was explained to me there are a handful of parents who think this coach will get their kids into college hockey. these parents kids play on a second team coached by said coach. Clearly you are one of them. Just read what you wrote. Are you drunk ? this is about high school hockey. You are not in a prep high school. This is not Minnesota high school. I don’t know who Tod Naylor is. If this is one of the board members you are speaking about it sounds like the only person who got put in their place is the guy that got suspended for a year! I’m sorry to break it to you coaches do not get suspended for a year from USA hockey over playing time. Maybe said coach is not telling tell you the truth. Even if the parents I know only told me one side the fact is this guy was suspend for a YEAR. That just doesn’t happen unless there was a serious problem of some sort.

You don't know what you are talking about.  I am very close to the situation and frankly it is a bunch of BS what is going on.

Colorado Springs does not get involved over minor issues. That’s what the district is for. I’m very friendly with three different families that have kids playing on that team. All three have stated to me the same thing. I choose not to repeat the charges. These are minors involved. I’m not starting a fight. The question was asked a month ago above.

A coach does not get a year suspension over what you are claiming.

Sure, file safesport violations against coaches when your kid isn't on the top line because folks, that is what this is all about.  PLAYING TIME and entitlements.   Everything is great until little johnny gets moved down a line or two or does not make the team, so lets recruit all of the past years parents who's kid got reduced playing time and therefore hate this coach.  Unfortunately mid-am/usa hockey has one sided eye glasses and could not see through this.  It's a shame that parents can ruin coaches who give us their all just because little johnny is not getting enough playing time at the varsity level.     It's a sad day for hockey.

What I was told had nothing to do with playing time or things of that nature. Do you think Colorado Springs  would get involved over that ? A year suspension ? If you think so you’re the coach or just crazy.

What kind of abuse is being allowed to go on? Seems to be a serious issue here.

I’m not comfortable posting the details i was given on a public forum. With that said it was not just one thing. There were many different issues. To have Colorado Springs involved that speaks to how serious the problems were.

  15. WA played in front of my son’s team Monday. some parents over there I know. I Was told the coach is under investigation by usa hockey (not the district) for multiple safe sport violations that date back a few years. These violations are still occurring. Time will tell these things don’t say secret long.
