  1. When the PPE squirt dads brag about rankings, just ask them what they think their kids prospects are after bantam. Much different story. It won’t happen to them though, their kid is too good.
  2. And anyone who disputes anything I have to say. 1. Tell me why there’s mass turnover on bantam and midget teams every year? Why are all the former 2006 born players playing in Cleveland? Are they not good enough? And if so why did they wipe their ass with the Pens 2006 team last year each time they faced off? What was that about? Why can’t the 2007’s fill up a team as of the moment? Why are most of the top 08 Pittsburgh kids at the Vengeance? Why did two more Pittsburgh born 08’s opt to leave the program this year? 2. What are their results with sending kids to higher levels of hockey? What’s the average round the draft picks are going in if they do go? The college commitments; we all know a commitment is just a motion of intent to participate in the program SHOULD THE PLAYER MAKE THE TEAM. How many of the players are making the team? North Americas best or premier coaching__ that’s what it said in the advertisement in my USA hockey magazine! 3. Of the kids who do move along. How many of those kids came from hockey families where they’re on the ice 4 days a week with Dad. Or coaches kids. 4. How many of the kids with junior selections and ‘commitments’ on the TV screens in the lobby played a singular game of peewee hockey for the program? When did they arrive on the scene? 5. How many squirt players are still in the program by second year bantam? Rough estimate? North Americas best coaching right? 6. Is Excel academy required? Seems that everyone who opted out is no longer desired with in the program? Sure seems like it’s a requirement and if so, how do you explain the choice of schools, which by most accounts isn’t even as good a school as most public schools. 7. When you find out the number of kids who move on from the program, ala their success rate. Can you justify the hundred thousand + dollar gamble it will take in the end? 8. When you determine how many squirt aged players are still with the program by bantam major. Can you justify the investment / Gamble? 9. Why do the participation fees jump anywhere from 300 to 900 dollars a year, yet there’s a new initiative out of the rink that’s highly concerned about the affordability of youth hockey. 10. Where is all the money going. You can only need so much to essentially pay some players to stay and play at the program. Offer sweet deals to lure those out of town recruits for the optics. Where does the rest of it go? Non profit right?
  3. The thing to do is getting mite and squirt aged parents to realize these things. To get the majority of kids in another program around town. That requires living without the black and gold jersey, but if you can do that boy do you save you and all your buddies a lot of grief long term. The squirt parents, and the parents who think they are squeaky clean and do as they’re told__ volunteer for everything etc. They’re the catalyst that keeps the momentum rolling in Cranberry. Until they get fucked… because everyone gets fucked in the end. If it’s not them directly fucking you. It’s their lack of success with developing athletes that has a great chance of fucking you (time and money) and your kid (development). It’s too late once you hit bantam, most likely going to have to find out the hard way and end up sending your kid out of state. But if you can get the flock to buy in at an early age and opt out of cranberry collectively __then most kids can stay right here as long as they want before junior. They ofcourse have thought of this so they created the mite program to really sink their teeth in early. Vengeance 2008 is perfect example of parents who just said screw it nd all went to another program. Phenomenal coach and a lot of kids doing well there. No pens jersey, no one cares. Those kids are all getting the same accolades and recognition they would have got anywhere. Parents just have the balls to tell Cranberry to get bent. They know they’re better off, extremely better off where they are at. But you know__ Doug and Melissa just can’t pass up that opportunity to put that logo sticker on the back of their vehicle. Then post junior in a jersey so everyone knows their kid is talented. While the rest of us who have seen this all play out (over and over and over and over) are feeling sorry for what you’re getting yourself and more importantly your kid into.
  4. Where’s hockey2020? No Wi-Fi on the flight back from your 1-9 trip to Alberta?
  5. I don’t think there was much of a choice there was there? From what I understand the writing is on the wall when 66 and Morehouse decided they wanted the program. Would be stupid not to atleast get something out of it. Don’t want to talk about Sluggo though unless we are talking about all the posters Mr. almost won the hobey baker hung on the walls at the rink.
  6. Not really a fair statement towards Sluggo. Sluggo is the cream of the crop for hockey guys. Dude is loved everywhere he goes. Could stop at a rest stop in Guetemala and would run into someone there happy to see him. Whatever the beef is there, have you ever even been in the same room with the cock sucker who’s running things now? You would be pining for a guy like Sluggo. Sluggo…….. Sluggo running the program would be a gift from the hockey gods lol I’ll take the sweet asian woman at the concession stand running the program at this point.
  7. I’d be willing to bet on the hockey director doing his huffy puffy phony ‘atta boy’ thing with Cooley and not missing an opportunity to tell him not to forget to mention us! As far as little pens. Spot on. Whole family are hockey people, good people though and humble all things considered. Makes sense with Voit. Again they prefer the mindless accountant and his wife Melissa who are going to see all the ‘commitments’ on TVs and posters, then use that for reason why they are making the investment. Even though something doesn’t feel right. Just waiting for locals to wake up and realize it doesn’t have to be this way. They’re enabling it. Sure the program that comes after will have it’s issues but not to this scale and you might just see some proper development. The local AAA program is not an option for most people who know what they’re doing with their kids.
  8. I think Cooley does credit them. But why wouldn’t he. His experience there was 101% different that everyone else. Plus he has family employed there now. Whatever. If I were Marc Voit I would be sending cease and desists. The irony in his kid being the only PPE player to date__ to put ink to paper in the NHL. CCM 68 is a popularity contest. It’s a who’s who of my Dad sucked off anyone and everyone to get me here mixed with actual can’t miss high end players. It’s about 50/50. The rosters are all out there and each year roughly half is legit, the other halfs parents have sore jaws. It’s a big deal for bantam parents until they realize the National Camp is doing the real sorting of who’s who. Kind of like how Brick parents get all that validation from an event and age group that doesn’t mean shit in the long run. Honestly don’t even see the pens trying to take credit for that as much as just giving a nod to the kids. They know better and they know everyone else knows too. Again, much like the brick content on their SM. Certainly on point with them trying to take credit elsewhere though. It’s also why their social media is full of ‘check ins’ with former players who did move on to a higher level. The reason they created an off season pro league. All optics to keep the consumers telling themselves everything is fine.
  9. Doesn’t matter. Your average parent will tell themselves their kid is special and none of this will be a problem for them. They will be obedient and kiss ass. I did think that was rich though. Guy raises prices significantly year over year. He must be having a field day with ‘inflation’. Then they have the balls to start this new fundraising iniative so people can afford to play lol Probably going towards paying the way and enticing non-local players to come participate in their prep school cosplay.
  10. They just need to put the program back into the hands of the Hornets guys to be honest. You know, the ones responsible for 90% of those NHL origin story posters on the walls at the rink. Actually if the pro team were smart - they would wash their hands of directly overseeing youth hockey altogether. Too much of a cess pool overall and not worth the hassle. Let the Hornets or the likes of be a separate entity again and then put money into youth hockey across the board in Western PA. That’s how you get future fans. Not channeling it all into one program. That’s when the goons start showing up ala the current format at PPE. At the end of the day, is anyone better for having the Pens Elite around? What does investing all that time and money at PPE get most kids in the long run? Has that program helped the area be more competitive overall? ‘It’S aLL aBoUt ThE eXpErIeNcE aNd LiFe LeSsOnS’
  11. The real shame of it is the pro team being complicit in it all. They make such a valiant effort to be squeaky clean on all fronts. Then let the grass roots level, albeit a small portion of the big picture for them, operate the way it does. Mackinnon has all the right friends. It’s a wonder he doesn’t speak up. Those turds would get Thanos snapped back to Chicago and Detroit faster than you can say North Catholic isn’t even as good as most public schools.
  12. I’ve heard the stories. Marc knew too much.
  13. You’re absolutely right. Which speaks to my point. Why is a program with the state of the art facility, trainer who’s the first to tell you he ran an NHL combine, ‘the best coaching in the country’ who’s under the umbrella of a pro team so inefficient at developing players to have success past amateur hockey? Short answer is they don’t have to care. They can enjoy their comfy positions without having to care lol That program literally sucks, everyone is so caught up whining about politics there__ That’s true, but look at what they are doing on the ice. Excel has kids skating in pairs passing back and forth to each other lol As in the same drills your kids did in mites. And they are allowed to get away with it… Why? Because they prefer upper middle class cattle who don’t know any better. And they are rich in Upper middle class cattle who don’t know any better. Cranberry and surrounding areas are chalk full of these types. The cattle who are happy to go to work everyday and brag about how their squirt major team is ranked 3rd. The kind of cattle who read coaching bios and think almost winning the hobey baker is relevant. Cattle who when the program is done using the kid and bleeding the family dry___ they will just accept it and move on to North Pittsburgh while passively aggressively telling their new NP buddies how they’re kid got screwed over. Just ask them about the results lol They have a playbook on manipulation and how to evade questions. If they know you recognize it, they will bully you. So just stick with the facts. How many of the commitments on the lobby TV’s are making the team? Why do you receive so little commitments and draft selections to begin with? How many of your commitments and draft selections are players who spent more than two seasons in your program? People will sit with their bank and examine verbiage around a mortgage for 2 months. Mortgage having a finite result, a home. Yet they will also throw checks at the clown show in Cranberry with a hope and a prayer__ in the amount that would pay the mortgage two times over when all is said and done.
  14. Cast offs and never were’s has to be sarcasm. Those kids can play. They just ran into the same problems as everyone else. The hockey director and his smoke and mirrors masterclass in psychology. Along with his band of fucc boi’s.
  15. Good and to the point. Post the ‘results’ and let people decide for themselves on what exactly is going on in Cranberry.
  16. Don’t disagree at all. Most move to other programs. The Barons 06 team is full of Pittsburgh kids. These kids should be playing in their hometown based upon their talent level. That’s the degradation level we are at. Some of the top 06’s, 07’s, 08’s from Pittsburgh no longer opt to play in Cranberry. Why? There’s too many kids who have left for them to blame it on the parents. That’s always been the go to__ blame it on the kids and parents. That program has been hijacked by other programs toxic cast offs and they’ve found a comfy home here and a clientele that’s been moldable up until recently. Their results are garbage even compared to programs in smaller cities, without a pro team, and significantly less money. Look at the cold hard facts on who ends up where and it’s shocking. Now they’re blowing up their social media with check ins on former players to save face for the lack of current players making junior and college squads lol Creating an off-season ‘pro league’. Anything to attach their names to someone with success so the elite mite program and squirt parents keep funneling those bucks for a few more years. Maybe we can create a spreadsheet and pin it on the forum. With data revolving around how many players coming out of the Penguins Elite program are successfully playing in a top junior league or on a top college program. Just post the results and see if the 40k for Excel and regular season matches up! Especially in this economy. Yikes. If you want to break it down even further. Of the group of kids who have managed to escape the Pens and play at higher levels__ how many have come from hockey families where Dad or relatives could keep up with their development outside of the pens? Do some basic digging though and most have a some very respectable hockey resources outside of Cranberry. Most in their own home. To not fault of any of those families__ They’re taking advantage of their resources. They know they have to. Can’t leave it to the other guys. Still begs the question how many non hockey families have showed up in Cranberry and had their kids ‘developed’ at Pens, then moved on to junior or college, pros? Yikes. Big show of support for the mite and squirt parents who have the fortitude to avoid that place early on. When the peer pressure and snake oil salesmen show up at their door. Cutting off the talent flow to that program early on will help steer the change. Also saving themselves a lot of grief__ and giving their kids opportunity elsewhere. You don’t need to play on the 8th ranked squirt and peewee teams in the country for a kid to have success__ or even bantams and midgets. You have to be developed. Somebody crowd fund a 5 star concession stand and 20 foot big screen for Harmarville. New paint job. Get some elite 5 year olds going there exclusively. Give the place a chance and we’ll see how things pan out over 5 years. I’ll tell you how it pans out. The Pens don’t exist anymore. Look at their results!! Best kept secret in town!! Again whoever inevitably sends these clowns packing is deserving of a statue.
  17. I also just recently saw the that UPMC rink has started a new initiative to fundraise so kids can afford to play hockey. While the hockey director sits and raises prices by the hundreds/thousands year after year lol What’s the deal with that hockey2020? Still using the old ‘ bUt BuT the Chicago Mission pay 15k!!!’ angle? That still work? Lol The sooner someone sends all of you clowns back to Detroit and Chicago__ the sooner the hockey landscape here will prosper again. In the meantime__ get off of this forum and get focused on those Canadien / Euro dollars. It’s almost August and you got some teams to fill. You boys are going to miss your quota. I’m sure there’s some Ukrainian refugees out there you can take advantage of!!
  18. That and piss poor development, burn out, pens and friends . Remember when we all thought the 03 parents were crazy for trying to warn everyone in town what happens in Cranberry? These guys talk about commitments like they’re written in stone. How many players actually made the Junior or College Squad? Why was Columbus as of recently outperforming you in moving kids into juniors? Why has there been so much turnover on your older teams? Why is every player who leaves your program worthless? Why do so many players leave your program to begin with? Why is the only player who ever signed an NHL deal one who got fed up and left your program? How many of these commitments are panning out? Do you support players after they leave your program or do they never hear from you until you want to use their likeness to trick people into thinking you actually develop players? Cooley won’t save you. That kid could have grown up in Egypt and still made it to the top. Can’t miss exceptional talent. Basically everyone realizes that kid is a phenom, and their kid isn’t. Where are the results outside of that? Where are the results for the non-can’t miss players? Take NHL caliber kids out of it. I would think with the state of the art facilities and self proclaimed best coaching in the country__ that you would surely be putting a significant number of kids into higher levels of hockey left and right, right?!?!?! The development is trash at both Pens and Excel __ tune into Excel or Pens practices and see for yourself. The kids hate it so much that they actively tell kids shadowing in Excel not to move to Pittsburgh and do it. Someone was smart enough to realize that a small market like Pittsburgh was ripe for this kind of thing. Not a lot of other options to play, and insecure parents. Seems like people are waking up though. At least enough to scare their employees. See everything hockey2020 has posted lol Someone here said it best when they said people tolerate the Pens and can’t wait to get away from it. The bad news is you’re just a business opportunity for them. Your kids future isn’t their problem. Whoever ends up nuking that program and re-establishing the Hornets should get a statue on fifth street.
  19. The good news is people are starting to see that penguins elite group for what they are (not the players). The 03 parents tried to tell everyone a while ago. Now a squirt coach is on here trying to save face because they know it’s a heavily trafficked site in Western PA. Amusing to watch lol
  20. It is just you. Some people do far worse things with their disposable income than have their kids play AAA hockey in a different city. The humanity. 99.99% of players are not Sidney Crosby and playing 3 years above their age level. If people took your advice there would be 5 guys playing professional hockey in North America. Though maybe some kids just enjoy playing and their parents enjoy the ride. Should we all just have our kids quit because they may or may not be on TV someday?
  21. The point in the matter is that kids leave and kids get cut. Hockey2020 above is insinuating that any kid that ends up at another team was let go by the Penguins. It is really sad that some kids and families get bashed just because they did not choose the Penguins. It is always the same vile crap stories anytime kids choose to play at a different organization and the damage control campaign starts at the expense of the kids and families reputation.
