  1. No, not at all.

If you've coached, you know that one team is hard enough. When you double that, the attention to players gets cut in half. That's a simple math equation.

Are we really at the point where we think Coaching 10U hockey should be expected to pay a "livable wage"?

I'm not even sure that a USHL Coach makes that kind of dough.

  2. Remember the premise that The King and Danner27 were the same person?

    Anyone?

Also, haven't seen the Michigan board but the one that was removed about 10 years ago for Ontario and mainly the GTHL was the most insanity I've ever seen. Not only do they take the game seriously, they also take being ruthless seriously as well.

I’m not sure if this game was organized and scheduled by PPE or USHL but kudos for playing it at the Lemieux center.  Fun to watch.

And kudos to them on the W in the game and event. 5-0 is impressive and it wasn't against any weaklings.

Maybe the new ownership group will be more Pittsburgh friendly and insist on them playing against more local teams on a regular basis such as the SHAHA 16U that just played them but this one was scheduled by the USHL folks.

I think everyone can agree that having two very good teams in Pittsburgh at any age group shows the progress being made here across the whole sport.

But I also second the motion that you are way too excited about the result to not have a "dogg" in the fight.

  4. How many NCAA basketball D1 programs are there? - Maybe they should axe Loyola, IL and George Mason

College football? - We all know there are maybe 10 legit teams each season vying for the playoff and usually it's more like 5-6. So should every other program become D1-AA?

Maybe, just maybe....... the players really like the sport and maybe some of them also want to do everything they can to see how far they can go. The NHL teams with scouts and the scouting combine still make draft picks which are first round busts so trying to pinpoint someone's ability at 12, 14 and 16 while interesting is nearly impossible.

I think Logan Cooley is a prime example. He was always a great player he obviously has that extra drive and dedication which is probably just as important as anything else.

Same for Ty Voit, right? I mean...... he couldn't even make the 16U PPE team (wink, nod) that won Nationals but one of the 03's that did is playing where now? I'm know he wasn't drafted either and I just realized the Golden Child from Chicago wasn't drafted either.

Tier 1 teams buy ice. Rinks need ice sold to stay open. The game doesn't exist without the ice so let them play what and where they choose.

  5. That's a good observation and point. Any successful business realizes faults and shortcomings and makes changes. However, the egos that lie beneath out there will NEVER admit any such things and don't think anything is wrong.

I would also suggest that at the one younger age group where the parents of a lot of top players thumbed their noses at the "Elite", they are also getting their asses handed to them and that would be at the 08 age group. I would bet a LOT of dough that they won't be reaching out to play the 08 Vengeance team at any time other than a forced matchup at MidAms.

Slightly OT but does anyone else think them having the term “Elite” in their name both irritates most as snobbish as well as panders to their clientele?

I would say it comes off as snobbish to roughly 80% of people and yes, their clientele loves it.
