  1. They also have higher ranked teams playing two games in one day.  The National tournament rules are that a team should not play their second game against a team who is playing their first game so why wouldn’t the qualifying tournament do the same?  Seems they are giving an advantage to lower ranked teams.  Mid-Am should want the best team to make it to do as well as possible at Nationals.  The road to get there should be level regardless of rankings.

Thank you Dr. Howard. See this is the type of irresponsible posting that will get it all shut down. Leave stats and medical advice to people that know. I am not a medical professional which is why you will never find a post that shows me making medical claims or giving advice. It’s a highly contagious virus. Whether it’s deadly or not is not the issue here. Whether the state or cdc will restrict social freedoms is. Stick to Tier 2 statistical debates please.

Irresponsible posting is saying that two kids contracted COVID at  IC and siting a text message as fact.

I honestly don’t care what you believe. The facts are the facts and they are right in front of everyone.

despite my kids being done, I want to still see youth sports. I have family and friends with kids still playing, my kids friends still play. My niece was suppose to play her first Pahl season this year but a holes such as yourself can’t follow rules.

you obviously have some vested interest in the predators. Don’t worry buddy, your kid won’t make it to D1. Playing  there certainly would do nothing even if your kid had the talent.

stick to tier 2 - great comment!

I’m still waiting for the facts...

Yes, my kid plays for the Preds but no vested interest beyond that.  I just don’t see the need to constantly bash these organizations especially if your kids are done.

Thanks for the insight on my kid.  And all this time I’ve been thinking he’d get a full ride.

There is still no guarantee of any vaccine ever.  Don't forget that.

Further, without the "parents texting me" I have no idea that anything spread at ice castle. Apparently these kids are close enough they tried out in the south hills for preds despite living in North Hills. Are they good friends?  Did they share any rides to Ice Castle?  Did they hang out in the parking lot?  Did they spend the night at each other's houses?  Did they go on a triple date with their girlfriends for ice cream and hot dogs at Brighton?  Do they play other sports together?  How close were they in ice castle?  Why not kids from other places that were at that tryout and just the three north Hills kids?

Yeah - a text from a parent doesn’t prove much to me either. The reality is 5-6 days after exposure is an average.  Nothing is set in stone with this virus.  People can begin experiencing symptoms in as little as 3 days and up to 13.  To be able to definitely say when and where these kids were exposed is impossible.

Says the guy that created his account to defend the average statistics of the lower ranked 18U team at this arena. Some of us are trying to help the community at large. Judging by the panicked response after a long absence I will make a few guesses-

your kid was at the amateur tryout in question

you were one of the parents that had to be there and watch (this is one of the saddest traits of any of today’s “man”)

    you are now a carrier

yiur family, your place of business and anyone you’ve come in contact with is now at risk because you needed to cast your eyes on an amateur tryout that you don’t have any experience to actually understand or evaluate

    how close did I get?

Either way, as @Danner27 keeps saying, the truth will be exposed and all the money and time you wasted casting your families well being aside to appease your ego will be a waste. No matter what anyone thinks, it’ll all be shut down without you even knowing it

Panicked response after a long absence? What has there been to respond to?

To answer your question, you are not close at all.  But thanks for proving my point - that you do spend far too much time online bashing youth hockey.  You actually looked up prior comments I posted.  If you looked close enough, you’d see I created my account prior to the string you are referring to.  And since you are interested so much, no, my kid didn’t play for Bush last year.  As far as the greater good for the community as it relates to my family’s part, my kid drove himself to Tryouts and I stayed home.  He’s 17 and has played for 10 years.  We know the process and don’t need to be there.  Do you intentionally miss the point of other people’s posts?  Wait - don’t answer that.

I would also hope ice castle sends a email to every kid at that tryout!

And say what?  That a bunch of middle age men who spend far too much time online bashing local hockey have determined these kids contracted the virus at IC?  Because they can unequivocally say that these boys  never left their houses since early March and never interacted with anyone except who they live with.  Gimme a break.  They have been hanging with friends, going to restaurants, some may have gone to the beach or a protest, got a hair cut, went to Trader Joe’s for their mom, etc.  There is no way to pin point exposure.  All you are doing is spreading rumors which is irresponsible in the current state of affairs.   Heck, chances are they were exposed multiple times.

What’s the point ? USA hockey is not going to listen to a few hundred parents, heck probably saves them money by canceling nationals this year.

It’s better than complaining on a forum.... So far almost 15,000 people have signed - just a bit more than a few hundred parents.

If you look at MyHockeyRankings, Thomas’ team played 61 games this year and is 37-19-5 and MidAm champions at U18 Tier 2.  Many of those games were against strong teams  outside of PAHL. To even suggest Bush’s team is better because of one game is hilarious.  Bush’s team is 18-18-4. Thomas beat Bush and 3 other teams this past weekend to claim MidAms championship and will be playing in USA Hockey Tier 2 Nationals in California next month.  With that being said, both teams are quality teams at the U18 AA level for the Predators.

As far as coaching, the Thomas’ brothers  coached the Icemen U16 AA team last year that won MidAms and went to the Nationals. So they are obviously doing something right from a coaching standpoint. They moved over to the Predators with several players following them from the Icemen. And only one of those Icemen players actually tried out for AAA. They all wanted to stay with Thomas.  No surprise there. So, with all the negative comments on this board, there are some good things happening with the Predators.

Thomas’ team are all 2002s so a young U18 team that will have returning players next year. I hear that they are being asked to play on Gary’s U18 AAA team next season, but they all want to stay with Thomas at AA. The Thomas brothers are a great asset to the Predators organization and Ralph needs to hang on to these guys.

On a final note, Predators had 4 teams at U18 this year, far more than any other organization.  Some organizations had 15 kids total show up at tryouts at U18.  Meanwhile the Predators had over 100 and even had to cut kids at that level.  So one U18 AAA team, 2 U18 AA teams, and a U18 A major team.  And U18 AA Thomas going to the Nationals.  Not too shabby for an organization that is getting knocked in this forum.

I wasn’t suggesting Bush’s team was better - that’s why I posted the stats. The original post was questioning that.  I just don’t see the sense in bashing kids and solid coaches on a forum.

Did anyone else see that the Preds 2nd AA team beat the 1st team, and then win PAHL playoffs? Are they better or what happened?

I guess it depends what you use to measure the better team.  One game or a season record?  Bush’s team went 10-8-2 with 62 GF and 57 GA.  Thomas went 16-2-2 with 84 GF and 35 GA.  Bush went 2-2 this past weekend at MidAms and Thomas went 4-0.  Both coaches are strong.  Both teams are solid but play very different styles of hockey.  All games were close which is a testament to player ability and coaches.

Not to come of like a d!ck, tier 2 It’s not a district championship. For some reason they are calling it “states” now and it’s not. It’s just Pittsburgh teams, just about everyone that applies makes it. Not to mention there is something like 3-4 different tier 2 national champions. It’s really just a another Pahl championship the local independent team (Icemen) partake in.

You do sound like a dick.  People on this forum either complain that kids are playing for faux AAA teams or shit on them when they play AA, work hard and earn the right to play at Tier II nationals .

Its crazy how these rumors change. I heard from a parent on the 16u aa team that the goalie threatened to quit because the player was suspended and the rest of the team wanted the kid back. Who knows? Unless your kid is on that team does anyone know the truth ? Bottom line is the preds were once a good organization but now its all about the money. If they let the aaa kids play on aa where they belong they would still have good teams. As it is now the are not very good in PAHL. Their best team came from the icemen and most of their other top teams are average at best.

8 of the kids on the AA team you reference played Icemen last year and 4 of those 8 were SHAHA kids before that.  I don’t know where the other 4 played before last year but I bet most didn’t play with the Icemen. It’s not like the Icemen developed a team of kids over multiple years and they all up and left.

  12. I agree that the Norwin game is not in the same category as other incidents on the list.  I also agree it starts with placement of teams.  These two teams never should have been placed in the same division.  Same with TJ (they should be playing at AA) and Pine last year.  There is not a perfect formula but 17-0 shouldn’t happen. 3 players collectively had 18 points.  That’s absolutely unsportsmanlike.  PIHL is as much at fault as the coach.

Is it the same degree as fighting or threatening a ref - no, but now we’re talking about it.  #10 on the list is a joke and I would argue the one about a photographer overhearing a private conversation is not list worthy.

Bullshit on you!  You just agreed with my entire first paragraph.  Still doesn’t constitute being on a disciplinary report of major incidents.  Nothing happen!  No threats were made.   No players fought.  Didn’t hear of any parents fighting, swearing or yelling at the coaches.  There were 2 PIM in the entire game.  My guess, the Norwin parent were probably embarrassed by the actions of their own kids and coaches.  Again, running up the score in plain stupid.  Whining about it is stupid also.

The disciplinary report is posted under the sportsmanship initiative.  It clearly states what they define as proper sportsmanship and it’s not just yelling at refs, fighting and penalty minutes.  How about we raise the bar a little.

Let me first say that I’m completely mind boggled with the score outcome of the Norwin game.  Personally, if I was the coach, I would have done everything in my power to make it a respectable win.  Good sportsmanship being the key.

That said, this list is a PIHL Disciplinary report of MAJOR INCIDENTS . All other points listed are serious issues.  #9 is not!  Beating another team by 17 only makes the coaches look like DB’s, the school district look bad and the players look bad.  #9 should not be on the list.  Fights, ref confrontations, coaches, parents and/or players being idiots, rowdy people in the stands etc, should be on the list.

Bullshit - 17-0 means the coaches and the players scoring repeatedly are displaying unsportsmanlike conduct. To keep putting the top line out there only to score yet again is ridiculous.  There is no justification for it .  Here’s what you do - you sit your first line like you typically do your 4th line and play the hell out of the kids who don’t get a lot of ice time.

We’ve all seen games that are completely mismatched but usually, there is a shift in cheering, scoring and celebrating.  It doesn’t seem that happened in this game.  Interestingly enough, the Trib named the player(s) of the week based on this game.
