The last time the FR club experienced something like this in 2011 - 2015, the Varsity went 1-80-1 over 4 years. Thank god for the FR Little Panthers, who led the program to two Penguins Cups and 10 straight winning seasons under Brian Kurtz and John Winebrenner.

Now I get it, you are a player from Canevin. I assure you I played there. I can even tell you almost every coach they have had there since 1984. Know many of them personally. Oldaker, Koch, Timmons, Fedor, Zielmanski, Vacarro, Pawlus, just to name a few. Not allowed to post players names here.
I guess I shouldn’t argue with you about how many AAA players are on Canevin’s team because you play for them. But kids that played amateur AA this year, but played amateur AAA previously no longer count as AAA players. They are classified as amateur AA players. So I am sure what ever total you claim it to be, it is a lot lower. 3 of your top 10 scorers played AAA this year.
Lots of really good players on Canevin’s team. Just not as many as most teams that play PIHL AA.
I wish you nothing but success going forward. Unfortunately we will never get to see you play those teams. Maybe ask your coach to play in the St. Margaret’s pre-season tournament.
hopefully I will get to see you play next year. I saw you play this year. And you probably were pretty good.
Canevin has had a great program for a long time at AA and won over 600 Games and 8 Penguins Cups and 4 State Titles.
They can play in Non PIHL Tournaments and compete. It would be nice to see them in AA but would mean the players from Seton LaSalle and Keystone Oaks would have to enroll in Canevin and they would be pure. Commitment to the School and Program. Costs money and can be done. People always want o have things both ways and the reality is the the league has rules to follow.
Vaccaro played at Ringgold FYI.

Wonder what happened there? Sounds like they had a successful year.
Corey did a great job with Salem and should be commended for taking the program to new heights and doing so the right way

So you are saying that the Schools in D-2 don't work hard? Those teams and coaches have to work harder to join players from 5 schools together to form a team. Wow I didn't realize how much you are against D-2. So that's why you try hard not to recognize their accomplishments! Very sad!
I am not against D-2 at all and completely understand the model and appreciate the challenges. They get to play their championship at Lemieux, get coverage on Web, have an all star game and enjoy the same benefits as Varsity AAA, AA and A. Yet you cry discrimination. Stop crying foul and appreciate what d-2 has. Deer Lakes has a JV and will join A Hockey soon and will be another example of the original intention.

38 kids in the freshman class so won't be going pure anytime soon
8 pens cups not bad
Those Canevin teams had commitment !

D-2 is impure teams with multiple High Schools and was originally supposed to develop into pure and never did.
Schools in AAA, AA and A work very hard to earn an opportunity to play for a State Championship and are rewarded for their efforts.
TJ beat Greensburg Salem 8-0 in the PAHSS and both had all their players and was a good experience because Salem rebounded and committed themselves and almost pulled off a Penguins Cup this year.
Canevin sent half their players to play Latrobe ? Why?
Look at what Avonworth is doing and South Park is doing with MS and Developmental and they should be applauded

Canevin had half there players for that game
And you hired the worst girl referee I have ever seen for that game it was hilarious
Preference why Canevin doesn't play in that tournament anymore
You really shouldn't bash teams not good for business
If you didn't try to pay 35 dollars to ref a game maybe your tournament would be better
Not bashing schools at all they got beat 8-0 and pay refs very well

I wouldn't call losing to top teams by 1 getting outclassed without having some of there best players because they where out of town for the holidays
Latrobe beat Canevin 8-0 and Armstrong beat Ringgold 9-2 two years ago

The top D-2 Teams have come to some of my tournaments and Carrick won it in 2014. Ringgold & Canevin competed and also played some games and got outclassed. If you wanna run with the big dogs, get off the porch.

While that is a wonderful list it is very sad that Keith Barnes does not recognize the co-op players!
Ryan Saginaw and Gio Valentine were as good if not better than the Stellar 6!
It's not their fault that they play for teams that need to combine schools to form a team. I would say that what they accomplished in some ways was tougher than what the Stellar 6 accomplished!
Anyone ever ask Barnes why he doesn't even consider D-2!
I have been a part of picking the Stellar 6 for almost 30 years and its great that the PG recognizes these players ............do me a favor and congratulate these great kids . D-2 gets plenty of publicity

If you make that call on that play in a state championship, you deserve criticism. Officials in a game of that level should be experienced enough to use discretion. They delivered the ultimate consequence on an act that had no effect on a player or the game. Heck, I’ll willing to bet everyone in attendance was dumbfounded, and if no call was made at all there would have been no real complaint.
Excellent post

Excellent points, that is what I was trying to convey. But logic doesnt override sour grapes.
I have nothing to do with TJ and the soft call ruined a very good hockey game between two very good championship teams. It happened in the past and the officials can do better. TJ was the benefactor of poor officiating in the 2022 Penguins Cup with Franklin, which was a disgraceful display of poor officiating.

Just because you know him and he is a "good kid" doesn't preclude him from taking an unwise penalty. Are you implying that this official is not experienced? How do you know? Granted, for a critical call such as this, I would have consulted with my partner for sure; however, if an official sees a penalty, no matter where he or she is on the ice, he or she needs to make the call. Again, you are implying that since he was the back official that he could not effectively make this call, which is not a logical statement at all.

The point being that this player committed a spearing penalty in a big game; the rules are clear. There is not a different rulebook when playoffs come around; the key is for the officials to effectively communicate with everyone. But again, it was the player who committed the penalty; he only has himself to blame.
he didn't talk to his fellow officials that were closer to the play (he was at blue line and backside official) and did not communicate with TJ bench. He went and directly threw the player out of the game. Watch the Video again and assess how dangerous the intent was.....love tap at best after he was clubbed in the back by the Pennridge player (No Penalty)!

Perhaps the kid said or did something in the course of the game that pissed the ref off, so he called something that otherwise wouldn't have been called?
I've seen it happen before.
Pennsylvania High School Hockey Championships Should used seasoned officials who understand the game and control their emotions and make the calls to the best of their ability. What bothers me is that he didn't talk to his fellow officials that were closer to the play (he was at blue line and backside official) and did not communicate with TJ bench, which normally better officials do. Player is A Captain and top scorer and I know him to be a very good kid. TJ got a bad deal IMO. Read Coach Zeiler's assessment .....it says it all !

If I was a TJ parent/fan/coach/player (which I’m not), I’d be disgruntled about the game misconduct call given to their leading scorer half way through the game. Refs called it spearing and gave 5 and game for what looked like a love tap after being crosschecked. Would be interesting to know where the ref is from.
Now that I saw video this was a ludicrous call that ruined a great Championship game from a backside official from the blue line .............What a shame
