The whole thing is unfortunate. QV is likely to run the table and go undefeated unless Shaler or someone else knocks them off. These two teams could meet again in the Penguins Cup, which would be interesting. Im more interested to see if the West can break a 12 year drought of State Titles. If QV gets there they have a good chance. Char Valley has its work cut out for them.

Had a chance to see Quaker Valley - Chartiers Valley play and the game had good play and goaltending. Quaker is very good and the number 1 ranking will be deserved. Unfortunately, this got stupid and suspensions will follow. QV is the last Western Pa school to win States in 2012 and hopefully comes to an end soon.

Midget 18 AA and majority of Midget AAA should save their money for college and play for their high school team. Most end up in ACHA M1 or M2 if they are decent high school players and get an education.

Development includes players enjoying Ice (Amatuer and School) + dek/Inline (Started in WPA in about 1985 in Penn Hills) during GS and Middle School years (Long List including Umberger Chmiel Asturi and Many more)

Thanks for the post Smitty . it was 1978 when we first met playing Street Hockey ? Hockey in Western Pennsylvania has plenty of opportunity for development from start to finish into college and beyond for girls and boys. I reccomend for children under 10 to play Dek Hockey and maybe inline until kids bodies grow from Grade School into Middle School and then High School. Plenty of Learn to Skate and Power Skating enhances skill development as kids seek higher levels to be able to compete with others in the area and outside WPA. The key is to keep it fun and build a love for the game by joining programs that play a moderate number of games and dont burn kids out at the Pee Wee and Bantam levels. Once they reach the Midget (U 16 and U 18) and JV and Varsity Levels. At this time is a great opportunity to expose kids to competition with both School and Amatuer Hockey to prepare young adults for college and enjoy the hockey community in State and National Competition. There is no perfect answer but plenty of knowledgable coaches and camps. What I love now is the plenty of kids I coached and got started in the game and had play in our tournaments , still playing competitive adult league who are now coaching and refereeing and giving back to the game. Keep it fun and dont wear out your cars and your tires chasing the game and enjoy the ride ! We had a goal with our Dek Hockey Program to make friends, have fun and Learn the game of Hockey, Keep that in front of you at all times and youll enjoy the game for a long time - 55 years later I'm still involved. Meeting tonights at Genos in Harmar tonight as the journey continues.

New rankings will posted every other Friday and Statewide Rankings will be out after Jamestown. Ive been out taking games in. AAA will be very competitive and wide open. AA has 5 very good teams and A is interesting as well. Everybodys input is welcome, please do your homework and watch games .

AAA will be alot like last season and FR TJ and SF will compete and make it better. Alot of one goal games.
