Not true he attended Montour HS  from start of the year.

I think you can be a billet and attend the school.  I believe billet means temporary housing and unless his parents signed over guardianship making the housing permanent, he's technically considered a billet. I could be wrong though.

Will find out tonight Avonworth wants in bad.

Can't really blame them.  The goalie in question is statistically significantly better.

The rule seems pretty black and white.  If you billet and your parents didn't sign over guardianship, you have to sit out a year.

You have to ask yourself if this kid was in the district prior to this year and part of the Montour placement process, would Montour still have dropped to single A?

  3. I'm confused on what the issue is.  Is it the timing of him transferring?  Or is it the "intent" of the transfer.  I know athletic intent requires you to sit out for a year before you can play for the school.  Or was this an issue of the paperwork needing to be in by X date and it not making it by that date?

Here's the billeted section of Athletic Intent ineligibility

The student is a billeted player, unless a court-appointed guardianship is in place between the player and the hostfamily. This does not pertain to foreign students who have been approved by USA Hockey.

Someone from PIHL must read this board, montour is getting dragged into a hearing tonight.

If the goalie was illegal or his paperwork not done correctly - PIHL is just now picked up on it - it’s a bad look for pihl finding it this late in the season, through this message board of all places.

@Happy Hockey Fan you seem to be involved with montour, is this accurate - really a hearing tonight ?

This is a very interesting rumour.  Would this disqualify them from PIHL playoffs?

No doubt about that. I really hope this discussion doesn't turn into that again. Those two teams are good.

Are SHAHA AAA teams looking for a new home with two sheets of ice and more practice time? It's still crazy to me how many teams they run out of the YMCA with one single sheet.

With 1 sheet at YMCA, how can they not be looking for more time.

Good to hear! Hopefully more people will see this and realize there are options for top quality hockey in Western PA!

I think it's been said here ad nauseum, including by myself.  I think the location is the biggest issue here.  If Esmark were to move to Printscape or RMU or anywhere else for that matter, they'd get alot more interest.  My friend swears by the coaching and practice models (the opposite of what we've heard about other orgs).  He just hates driving out there.

    True.

Preds AAA Tier 1 teams are currently ranked nationally as follows:

    U18 - 107th out of 127 teams.

    U16 - 107th out of 123 teams.

    U15 - 103rd out of 115 teams.

    2008 - 79th out of 113 teams

    2009 - 77th.

I would love to hear from those that have kids on any of these teams and provide some insight as to their level of satisfaction.

I'll echo what others have said on here and what I've heard is that they don't develop the talent, that practices are very unorganized...whatever that means.  I guess, in general, those that I've talked to are very unhappy with the practice structure.

  9. So I see that North Pittsburgh has kicked of the tryout date crap show.  Let's use this thread to post all known tryout dates for reference.  I'm actually surprised I haven't seen others yet, given that NP posted this a few weeks ago.

Well, this escalated quickly…Shame because it was 1 of the better posts on here…great discussion and communication…

Just know, Black Bear is aiming to buy all non municipal rinks in this area. This conversation will continue for a long time, especially as we see it play out in the long run. I just warn anyone who is in talks with them now or in the future to use extreme caution and don’t let your guard down or you may find your teams without ice. They told us they’d rather see a rink sit empty than not have control of the teams using their rinks.

Yeah it sucks when one party gets offended at even the simplest of observations.  Your candor on this board is appreciated and helps to lay out the landscape of hockey in the tri state area.

I mean, I have no idea...was your kid cut from a team, in the penalty box for something you thought was a good hit, lost a game....no kid talks about water, so clearly your ego was butt hurt at some point. Get over it, your kid probably just loves playing the game and your ego is making your player one of those kids associations avoid due to the sperm who gave him life.

100 kids, your lies, exaggerations and flat out ridiculousness makes you irrelevant.

Man...I feel sorry for you.  They have therapists for this.  This is my last response to you.

I don't own the rink. I just know when idiots are talking out their asses and try to feel important and big by throwing insults and rumors around. Isn't there another sport and board you can ruin with your negativity and stupidity? For loving hockey, seems silly you would insult places giving people the ability to play. Good work.

Lol....pretty butthurt for having no affiliation.  So you're saying the Pond doesn't have brown water to drink?  I believe 100+ kids would agree with me.  It's not an insult when it's true.  But keep believing there's not a thing wrong with that place.

Or maybe ask the kids that had a ceiling tile fall on them during practice.
