Who said "equal playing time"? Not me. I just said 2 lines for 85% of a fast and physical game isn't always the best idea. And whether it works or sometimes it doesn't, it's still a lazy way to coach. Anybody could do it and get the same results. Not so much the other way around. But I guess around here the coaching pool isn't what it is in some other areas.

    lol

Lazy is not the same as winning now is it?  Or maybe you haven't been watching any PIHL playoff games of late?  Or do you see Varsity hockey as developmental?  If you do just say it.

And if anyone can just roll two lines as you say, how many state titles or Pens Cups have you won as head coach?  My guess is anyone doing as such has a secure spot at that school as a HC.

I wouldn't call playing 2 lines 85% of the time "good coaching". I would say the team that is not necessarily rolling lines but pacing all 4 and beats the team playing 2 lines is the team with the good coach.

From what I have seen teams “pacing” all four lines rarely ever beat one team heavily leaning on the top two lines in PIHL.  Varsity hockey coaches are doing that for a reason as it gives them the best chance to win, whether you agree with it or not.  Hockey at the varsity level is not developmental hockey like JV or MS where it is all about equal playing time.

"out coached" in high school sports is really funny! You're only as good as the players in your district that come out to play.  And you better hope you have a stud in net every 4 years if you want long term success!

Can anybody point to a local coach that CONSISTENTLY took a bunch of mediocre hockey players and turned them into champions? And I don't mean just a one year overachieving team.

I have watched a lot of PIHL games and I have seen coaches get "out coached" quite often, and IMO it is because of the disparity between skill levels.  There is a significant drop off from a PIHL teams #1 and #2 lines compared to lines #3 and #4.  I have seen coaches roll four lines while others play their top 2 lines 85% of the game with the 4th line not sniffing the ice which creates a lot of mismatches.  And I have seen those that were "out coached" and rolling four lines not adjust to what the other team is doing during any point of the game.

In higher level club hockey such as AAA and AA, the disparity of talent is significantly less.

Still a bad situation, for what I'm assuming to be an injured player with no real equipment on to be in, right?

Injured players wearing a helmet that were on the bench during the game are allowed on the ice for the end of game handshake line.  Dude didn't throw punches or get involved in the on-ice mess.

You watch the video close enough, there is a player that's not even dressed, helmet on but wearing shorts out in the middle of all of this!!!

CJ sending his Stella Sh*ts off the bench to join in. WTF

For reasons unknown to me, they continue to let this guy lead our youth.

    What a disgrace!

The kid wearing the shorts and helmet did nothing other than walk onto the ice at the end.  He was not involved in this in any way.

  6. This may be a topic for a different thread, but I never really understood why a parent, whose kid did not make a local U16-18 AAA team would send him away to play AAA in another city or state for his junior year or even worse, his senior year in high school?  I mean, are the scouts all of a sudden going to notice this player whether they play for Team Maryland, Tri-State, Nashville Jr Preds or any team in Detroit but were not good enough to make a local AAA team?  You would think not making a local AAA team would be a sign not to be ignored?

I know of several kids that went through this and ended up being non-drafted players while missing their senior year in HS and taking cyber school.  Maybe it's me, I just don't get it.

Hahaha. fafa fohi and aaaahockey LOVE a good AAA failure story. aaaahockey, where are you when we need you???

Looks like we found our 09 AAA parent.  That was not too difficult.

Have you ever thought as to why a “AAA” level team would have to have a supplemental to fill their roster?  Do you think the top talent for that age group is waiting around to attend said supplemental?

No overlap with Vengeance 16U NB tryouts.  The Vengeance 16U NB team tryouts are 4/21, 4/22, and 4/24.  The Yetis tryouts are 4/26, 4/27, and 4/28.

There is an overlap with the non-NB Vengeance tryouts on 4/28, but their first tryout date (4/25) does not overlap.

Bro, we got it.  No need to post the same comment on six different topics / threads.

Money grab, those birth years don't even get looked at for another 2-3yrs.

Total money grab - many of these invites are "personalized" yet the player's name at the top is almost always in a different font from the text of the invite - kinda like a "insert player name here."

There's prospect camps, tryout camps, main camps, exposure camps, combine camps..........did I miss any?  And all are at $500 a clip plus hotel at a stay to play venue.

The problem was right in the name they removed. Removing it doesn't change the fact that they still named it after him after everything came to light. And only changed their minds when the backlash was received. Plus, the word "catholic" is still there, that's enough for me to not trust them.

Perhaps things still go on, but I don't remember hearing of a school district covering up abuse by moving an offending staff member from school to school, allowing them to continue the abuse.

Everything you said has zero to do with people accusing the school of covering up abuse that happened at said school.

Your trust in Catholics is about as good as my trust in so-called Christians.

That’s the problem with this thread. Everyone thinks their kid is going to the NHL. everyone on here thinks that. Sorry to burst your bubble but that is not the mindset of all. My personal child is a 2011 but know many on this Pens team and similar birth years. I only could hope my child can have a similar experience.  Like I said in a previous post, anyone who thinks their kid is going to the NHL isn’t thinking straight. There is so much more to these experiences. What drives me nuts is the disgruntled keyboard cowboys that think their child belongs somewhere they aren’t and blames everyone for their faults. Seems like another jealous human upset their kid isn’t celebrating in a city hosting a national championship. Semi finals 2 years in a row is a great accomplishment for that team and those players and families. NHL isn’t always the only goal. Most know that but won’t accept it. That’s too bad. Hockey is a great sport that offers so much more than just the NHL. Open your eyes.

Interesting that you did not address my comment that most of the U16 and U18 players are not Pittsburgh locals like you claimed they were.

    Open your eyes.

Pucks11…. You are completely out of your mind. You are the definition of the title of this thread… DELUSIONAL. So fitting. The kids in the high level teams like Pens have earned their spots. Unlike the prep schools, the Pens are majority local and yet they are still competing in North Dakota. Totally shuts your theory and stupid thought process down. Clearly you have a kid that can’t hang with the Pens. That’s ok. Just accept it, move on, and play AA.

Hey U15 Pens dad - we see you.   You need to look at the U16 and U18 rosters - the majority of players are not local kids.

But give it time.  Soon enough when your kid gets into those older age groups he will face “different odds” on his path to the NHL.

Let’s circle back after tryouts, yes?

  13. U16 SCIR is 2-0 going into today's game.

U18 Armstrong lost a tough one this morning in OT and is eliminated.  Allegheny is 1-1 and plays later today.

PPE U16 team has been eliminated while U14 and U15 are still in the hunt.

Tier 2 is a joke in my opinion.  Missing most of the top teams , teams get in because they are hosts,.....Their is better competition at a lot of the bigger tournaments throughout the season than tier 2 nationals.

U18 Tier 2, 3A has the strongest teams by far - Cheektowaga, West Dundee, Armstrong, Chesterfield.

U18 Allegheny Ind. gets a "host" spot in 2A?  If they are hosting natty's, give them a one game bye in Mid-ams.  But a guaranteed spot in natty's?  Hell nah.

Scores from Wednesday for U18 - Armstrong lost 2-1 and Allegheny lost 7-4.

they lost in the pens cup final...i dont view that as success..

Only two out of the 24 A-level teams make it to the Pens Cup final and they lost to a team that did not lose a game the entire season.  Most schools would take that scenario in a heartbeat.  On top of that, GS was a five seed.
