  1. No, the National Guard. Isn't that who you suggested and (hoped for) Wolf would send in, in your earlier post? In all honesty, since Nursing Homes have the largest amount of cases by far over everywhere else, why hasn't there been a large number of cases of Nursing Home Workers Families? You would think that if these people were going to work and getting infected, then bringing it how to their families, there would be a large number of cases in that group as well? Yet, there is no data (that I know of, but please point me to some if you find it) that supports this.
  2. Careful Paul, posting stuff like that will get you put in the Right Wing Nut Job category by ctil20
  3. I'll be honest. I don't know what that means. The only thing I have nightmares about is that 6 months ago if I told you that the government was going to tell you where you could go, who you could see, what you could wear and what you could buy, everyone would have thought would never happen. Well, it has happened and some people are ok with it.
  4. So, news from 3 weeks ago means it never happened? Sorry, there is not a statute of limitations on the truth. Maybe it doesn't happen as much now cause they got caught, but it still happens. Nice try, but don't watch Fox News. Truth is I don't watch CNN or MSNBC either. To me they are two sides of the same evil coin. I don't need anyone on either side telling me what to think. I don't believe or trust any of them. If you feel that strongly, you should stay inside. Heck, you should never leave your house again. What do I care? Do what ever you want. The difference is you are not content in doing what you want, you want to make the rest of us do what you want too.
  5. Your logic is flawed. You are making the assumption that the infection rate is standardized. It is not. Over 65% of all cases are the elderly and nursing homes are hit the hardest. News flash for you, those people don't go outside! It has also been proven that hospitals get more insurance money if they code a case as COVID versus not (look it up from any news source). Also, it has been proven that any death that occurs and the person had symptoms of COVID (ie a temperature) will be coded as COVID. That means if I have a heart attack when I had a temperature, or were coughing it gets coded as COVID (straight out of the CDC guidelines). These are facts, and they are undeniable. Look up the flu deaths from the past years
  6. Ok, so I check the numbers every week, and there was something else strange. Allegheny only went up by 3 and Beaver actually went down by 1? That doesn't seem right. Then I found this. https://www.inquirer.com/health/coronavirus/spl/pennsylvania-death-count-changes-confusion-coroanvirus-20200423.html It looks like they got caught faking the numbers...…..
  7. I wouldn't worry about the kids though. The parents will just find jobs in other states and move there. It's not like Detroit or other cities in Michigan have a problem with people leaving the state in droves. Oh, wait...……………...
  8. Is it? How can you be sure? Based off of the data? Well, since it appears that the measurement system itself is flawed, it would be hard for me to agree with your conclusion. For years people have been getting sick, going to the Doctor and being told, "well, you don't have the flu, you just have a virus". What was this virus? I lost all hope for transparency when I found out about the things I mentioned in my other post, plus the fact that tigers in NY have now tested positive for it? Come on. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2020/04/tiger-coronavirus-covid19-positive-test-bronx-zoo/
  9. Ok, so one week ago there were 14 deaths in Beaver and 38 in Allegheny YTD. In 1 week Beaver has had an additional 33 deaths bringing their total to 47 and Allegheny has had an 36 deaths bringing it's total to 74. What gives? It seems strange to me that we would have such a spike in 1 week. I mean triple Beavers YTD total in 1 week? Well, I did a little digging. First from the CDC website, anyone who dies and displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be coded as a COVID death even if they have not been tested, or have been tested but shown to be negative. Could this be true? So, I had my wife reach out to her niece who is a Respiratory Therapist. Yep, it's true. She just had a patient come in and had a stroke but had also complained of being short of breath, they coded him as a COVID-19 related death. I then called my 86 year old dad who has fibrosis and was given 2 years to live (4 years ago), and uses oxygen 24-hours a day. He stated when he went to his Doctor two weeks ago he was told that if he dies (no matter what the cause), they will code him as COVID related because he coughs all the time and has trouble breathing! Just a little "inside" info I have gathered from people who really are in the know. Feel free to dispute if you like. I would really like to believe this isn't true, but I am having a hard time right now.
  10. Ok, so 14 dead in Beaver and 38 in Allegheny. I could pull the rest of the numbers for within 200 miles and I doubt it would break 100, or if it did not by much. Not buying it
  11. No offense at all my friend. A valid point, I guess I am just one of the ones who thinks the media likes to hype everything up and get everyone in a panic. PA has had way less cases of COVID than the flu. More deaths from COVID, I'll give them that, I am just fed up with the media and it's bias towards doom and gloom. And by media I mean all media the left and the right
  12. Exactly my point. If they are being forced to keep the ice up, they should be charging the county the full bill for the ice time ($350/hr ish?) Then again, all the county will do is pass along this cost to the taxpayers anyway. In the end, we lose again.
  13. Agreed. The NHL is one of the few sports that rely on in-person attendance more than tv. Football, basketball and baseball are mostly tv revenue. So, the idea of playing games with no fans in stands doesn't hurt them as much as it hurt hockey. Team like AZ, Florida and others were on the brink anyway. How about the Seattle expansion team? Anybody see this not happening now? I do, there will not be a team there for quite some time, if at all.
  14. So, why are they doing this? Because they are saying their morgue could fill up of COVID deaths? The Johns-Hopkins website (updated today at 7:38am) lists Beaver County as having a total of 14 Corona related deaths, and I am sure most of those have been processed by now. Heck Allegheny only has had a total of 38 deaths. I don't mean to sound harsh, I know that no deaths is ideal, but do they think they are really going to spike that high? Beaver has had a total of 168 total cases, with 14 deaths and there is no data on recoveries yet. Is it me, or is the math not adding up here?
  15. The real interesting issue will be the fall. So, if you look at the High School Seniors who lost their last season, they will go off to college in the fall. I just read that most schools are already preparing for fall classes to be online. If this holds true, that will be no hockey tryouts and no hockey games/teams for the fall. Even if restrictions are lifted for 2021. How many schools are going to have club hockey for just Jan and Feb? Please note that ACHA wraps up their regular season pretty early (in Feb) and has playoffs and championships usually wrapped up in March. If they hold true to online this fall, these means that the kids who are seniors now, would not be playing "competitive" hockey until September of 2021. That will be 17 months away from playing real games (stopped in March 2020, start back up in Sept 2021). Let that sink in...…………….
  16. Agree. Who are you going to be able to call or email? You think they will return your messages? Nope, the teams, the rinks and the tournaments are all closed right now. I wouldn't even know where to start to request a refund. The best you can do is send an email, and you know that will go unanswered.
  17. Nah, they will tell us there is another "wave" of it before then. Normal is something we will just remember. Look at what California and Michigan are doing right now, and tell me if you think things will ever be "normal" again.
  18. Ok, so I have a question then, if you won't see groups of 100 or more until a vaccine is implemented into the public, does that mean everyone has to get the vaccine? What about people who don't believe in vaccines?
  19. Agreed. Colleges have already scheduled summer classes as online, so they are seeing this last until at least July. May is a pipedream at this time. Heck even the NFL is starting to look at pushing out some of their August dates.
  20. I don't think almost is accurate. I would say definite. Hockey (all sports), Prom, Commencement are all out for sure.
  21. Agree with your assessment. My original post was a bit narrow-focused to say the least. This is not just a PPE issue, or a AAA issue or a Pittsburgh issue, or probably even just a hockey issue. I am sure this will run rampant across all sports in all regions. Good point.
  22. Both good points. I know I have seen some kids take a few months off and hit the ice and look like they haven't missed a step. Others look like they have never been on skates before. Chinstrap brings up a good point. You have a Pens and friends kid who spends the entire time doing nothing and looks horrible and some outsider comes in and blows his doors off. In the end, the insider will still make the team, it will just make the shenanigan's that go on every year even more apparent.
  23. So, this delay brings up an interesting question for me. If kids are not allowed on the ice for camps or to play spring hockey, and all kids will have to tryout "cold". Will this have an affect on who get chosen? I know when my kid was playing, he needed a week or two at "game speed" to get back in the groove of things, which is why I always thought that tryouts in early spring benefitted him. If they have some sort of abbreviated tryouts in August after being off the ice for 5 months, I think he would look worse than normal. Thoughts?
  24. Just an FYI, looks like New York, DC and some other areas have canceled all youth hockey tryouts. Additionally stated if any team signs a player during this time they will be automatically disqualified to compete in Nationals. Can they do this? Please see the announcement from PVAHA regarding tryouts for the 2020-2021 season: PVAHA Announcement Regarding 2020–2021 Tryouts March 23, 2020 ... PVAHA is postponing all 2020–2021 team tryouts until further notice. This restriction applies to all Tier I, Tier II and Travel team tryouts that were scheduled to be held within Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia starting on or after April 8, 2020 for Tier I and April 25, 2020 for Tier II/Travel. As everyone should be aware all ice rinks within PVAHA are currently closed based on state or local restrictions. The PVAHA board of directors will continue to monitor Federal and State restrictions and recommendations and reschedule 2020–2021 tryouts as soon as possible. Until new 2020–2021 Season tryout dates are announced by PVAHA, and started for each level of play (Tier I, Tier II and Travel), no association or teams shall have any player or parent execute any player agreement or contract for the 2020–2021 season. If any PVAHA association holds team tryouts for 2020–2021 teams or requests player contracts or agreements for the 2020–2021 season before PVAHA authorized tryouts start, that Association and all association teams will be sanctioned through PVAHA discipline proceedings. Sanctions will result in all association teams being ineligible for National Championship, District Championship and Affiliate State Playoffs. If PVAHA determines that an association violated PVAHA 2020–2021 tryout restrictions, all players with that association will be released from that association by PVAHA without any financial obligation and (subject to roster deadlines) be free to join other eligible teams.
