  1. You are right and that's probably why I get so mad. I can't figure out what a rink would be liable for if a person thought they got covid there. How could they prove it? Anyway as you stated people sue for a lot less. Sad world we live in.
  2. Last time I checked this was the USA not CHINA. People in the USA value their freedom and ability to move around as they please even if sometimes it means not having as much control over this virus. Don't you think by now everyone understands the risks involved with sports, and life in general? I know you will come back with the argument that kids are going to unknowingly give it to old people. That's where the old people maybe should assume that everyone has it. Especially if they are high risk. I made a decision to be around my grandkids knowing they are taking more risks. It's a personal choice. That's why I like the USA. I'm free to make it.
  3. Agreed! Hopefully we can get thru a fall like no other we have ever seen!
  4. Great points. I didn't even think of that when I read it.
  5. I agree, I'm scared. I just want it to be over! I know it's not going to happen anytime soon and that's I'm sure why I get so frustrated. Especially with the people who look for every negative article so they can point to it and say see I told you we are going to all have to shut down sports and life till we get a vaccine!!!!
  6. God bless you for having the patience to wait a year! I don't have that kind of patience. A year might be 10 percent of my life at this point. Don't want to live it in the house! I haven't been out to eat dinner since March! No bars! No parties! No Fun.
  7. I read the article. Another scare tactic! How many are some? 2,5,8,10? shouldn't they get their facts down before they report that "some" players had it? The way I see it is it's not going to be wiped out by trying to keep kids from playing sports. We all have to know the risks and make our own decisions.
  8. Oh and by the way. How many people dying a day would be acceptable? Cause it's not going away anytime soon. What's the magic number?
  9. Agreed, I am one of those old people. I also feel like this is just dragging out the inevitable. This virus is going to be around. Even if they develop a Vaccine that works. How fast can they get it to enough people that I can come out of the house again? Is life worth living if you are scared of catching the virus? Something is going to kill me and I'm not trying to speed it up. I just want to go back to enjoying life. Watching the grandkids play was enjoyment. Now I watch what I can on live Barn. Just not the same.
  10. Is what MLB is doing better than nothing at all? I wonder how long it will take until this is no longer a big deal? We will never reach a herd immunity. Sooner or later are we just going to have to accept it as a part of life? Is swamping the hospitals with patients still the main concern?
  11. Exactly PTP is very annoying with his trolling remarks, I'm sure he wants to throw as much mud against the wall and see what might stick!
  12. Why does it seem to me that you would be very happy to have everything shut down! What's your reason for being the gloom and doom squad?
  13. And people like Peter the Puck are causing people to feel that the whole thing is overblown & Hyped with their overblown reactions to the situation. I'm sure he would gloat and be happy if all the rinks shut down because of 2 kids coming back from vacation.
  14. So where did you get that info? Does that include JV and Middle School?
  15. Do you think games are more of a challenge than practice? Hasn't practice been going on for weeks now? The potential problem I see is that people will get complacent again once the numbers improve and think that it's not as big a threat. I just hope associations don't panic if a few kids come up positive, Doesn't mean you have to shut everything down again.
  16. What's going to be different in January. I would think that after 2,5 months of not many problems at the rinks we can move forward smartly. Can't keep delaying things with the hope that it will get better!
  17. No reason you need to be at the rink if you can't wear a mask or social distance. Why ruin it for the kids if you bring it to the rink or get it and blame the rink. If you have a medical history I would think you would be smart enough to stay home.
  18. Hockey people must be doing something right. No major outbreaks reported for almost 2 months. Same with PIAA sports. That's why I don't understand Wolfs statement last week.
  19. So what do you recommend for safety? What can society do to get moving again? Or should we all just shelter till there are no more cases?
  20. So the waivers that are being signed at the rinks aren't worth the paper they are written on! Do you think the reality is the legal ramifications or the health risk? Can't we associate legal ramifications to anything we do? Drive a car, cut the grass, visit the neighbor? Where does it end? How long do we wait around hoping for something different to happen. What's going to be different January 1, 2021? How does that become the magic date that sports can begin again? Or is it just another delaying tactic? At some point doesn't the human race have to decide to exist with Covid-19? And why do they report total cases like everyone still has it! Wouldn't the public be better served to know how many active cases there are? I believe this is in large part a media perpetuated pandemic,
  21. You would think that the PAHL would provide some (any) information on their website to let people know what is going on. How many organizations have not held tryouts yet? These delaying tactics with sports are very annoying. It just seems that no one wants to be the bad guy to shut things down. All I know is that I have seen a lot of Hockey all over SW PA since the end of May and have only heard of 2 incidents in regard to hockey players having Covid. I can't imagine the PAHL shutting down. Would all of these organizations that have had fees paid in and ice time rented have to refund money? I can't help but see a big mess. I used to be optimistic! Now not so much.
  22. Dear SAHA Families: The SAHA Board of Directors was notified that an on-ice participant from the Bantam 2007 team tested positive for COVID-19. The participant was on the ice at Printscape Arena on August 4th from 8:30-9:25PM and August 5th from 5:40-6:35PM. The participant has not been to the ice rink since August 5th. The Bantam 2007 practice schedule has been revised and the Board will update our families as further information becomes available This is the second incident I have heard of with Covid at a rink. I hope they follow up with how the rest of the team is doing. I know when they first opened they were doing temperature checks at the door. Don't know if they are still doing that. Obviously a good thing that they are making people aware of the situation.
  23. When you are a D-1 program Coach and your job depends on how much you win your goal is always to get the best available players. I'm sure Robert Morris would love to have a home grown team as I'm sure it would create a lot more interest in their program. But the reality is that maybe they can get 1 or 2 kids from the area a year. If it's a good year. All D-1 sports are like that. How many Pitt Basketball players are from SWPA? Football players? Certainly a few at best. Just the reality of big time College Athletics.
  24. Governor Tom Wolf @GovernorTomWolf There are widespread rumors that I will soon be announcing a statewide school building closure or cancelling classes this fall. I want to be clear: I am not closing school buildings or cancelling classes. Wolf just tweeted that out and with the PIAA trying to go forward it gives me more confidence that there might be a PIHL season. I think it all depends on if the curve stays flat and we don't have clusters at rinks in the fall and winter. Masks are here to stay for a while.
  25. https://theuchc.com/ Looks like Chatham Hockey D-III is shut down Until at least January 2021. Isn't looking good to play this fall!
