you you and mrs danner take care in your bubble, this will all be over in November.

A recent poster suggested not arguing with "folks like yourself" or idiots, because they've plenty of experience and copious amounts of time sitting in their bubbles. That was one of the best posts I've seen on this forum.

That was probably one of my posts, and the bubble I was talking about is the infowars/freedom fighter/anti mask one, the one that you seem to be immersed in.

Europe didn't just flatten their curve. They bent it down dramatically. We just need to do that. Can we just, at least, hold off on the fun stuff for a while longer. We should not have opened all these high risk things. Most business should be able to operate, but stuff that puts people in close contact with one another is prolonging this catastrophe.

It's what happens when the federal and state governments are unable or (more likely) disinterested in helping SMALL businesses and average citizens faced with financial ruin. They want to get back to making money. Couple this with those who want to make a political statement by not taking simple precautions and whining about their liberty and freedom, and this is what we get.

The big point that I want make is this, the I've also seen some of the on-ice sessions and the only thing that makes most (not all) stand out are their beautiful yellow buckets along with the fact that they never pass the puck to anyone without the same helmet and even then a pass is rare. But they're determined to show their superiority over these vagrants from AA PAHL teams, or worse yet (gasp) an A player. I'm so superior to this peasant, mom told me so. So' I'll continue to make bad plays and turn the puck over to these lowly players because this yellow helmet is on my head.

While I tend to agree with that statement I will mention this little story you may find interesting/assuming. My lifelong friend lives in Minnesota with his wife and 3 boys (13,10, 8). As I am sure you are aware, MN divides their associations into districts based on where you live and your kids can ONLY play for those teams within your district. The high school teams use the local associations as feeder leagues for their JV and Varsity teams. My friends 13 year old was approached by the head coach of a high school with a VERY good hockey program in the Minneapolis area. Only problem was that they lived about an hour and half away in a completely different part of the state. After several talks with the coaches and some handshake deals, he decided to move into an area completely out of his budget and go from a 4 bedroom home to a 2 bedroom apartment, and commute to work the almost two hours each way so his kid could play for this schools varsity team. Stupid? Kind of. Stressful? Hell yes. Worth it? I guess time will tell.

I hope I don't derail this thread too much, but I always get a kick out of things like this.

Sorry to say, that seems downright retarded to do.

Well if you go by hockey cost alone, esmark is more than ppe with travel, but if you factor in excel it changes things a lot. Excel was not “mandatory” when my oldest was there. Stress for the parents is higher at PPE but stress for the players is much higher at esmark. These are my personal experiences.

If you don't mind me asking, in what ways? My kids' too young to worry about it now, but having some knowledge for the future is always appreciated.

  6. One I never have heard:

"My kid didn't make the team he/we wanted. Compared to the other kids, he just wasn't good enough. But that's alright, there's other teams that he'll be a good fit for, and have plenty of time to improve where he can. Next time is a new season and he can try again."

You will find this interesting. They just cut a pretty skilled 02 who was drafted by the ncdc for a 03 who has been going to excel the past 2 years. It makes zero sense from a hockey perspective when you compare the pedigree and skill of these two players. Word is the 03s father also made a nice donation to the penguins foundation, along with his excel contributions over the years. The 02 never went to excel.

PPE is not about growing the game. They are a tax shelter using youth hockey to pay for the pro teams practice facility and of course every couple of birth years an employee kid needs pushed.

    Sounds believable

  8. First off, people pissed, moaned and cried that their rights were being taken away. That everything needed to reopen. Couple that with federal governments inability or disinterest (more likely) to do fulfill their duty to help small businesses and people out of work over this, and everything was opened up too quickly and too nonchalantly. So here we are. The virus didn't go anywhere; its still here. As for blaming young people for 95% percent of the problem... typical. Meanwhile, every arena I've been to for lessons, tryouts, whatever- maybe 5% of the adults have a mask on. Regardless of the signs and recommendations. I see more kids wearing them.

Last I knew, no one under 40 had any authority throughout the country to open a state to green?

You have doctors saying "wear a mask". You have a president making fun of people for wearing a mask.

Like that Russian Yakov Smirnoff used to say, "What a country!"

@The King it was a total parent-centric free-for-all at our high school.  Nepotism, favoritism, black balling, gone wild.  Disgusting.  Which is my point of saying that (most) schools have zero idea what's going on inside those teams.

That's why they should be under the athletic director. If they're going to to bound to the school colors and logo, just sayin'.

  10. I had to laugh when I saw it. No announcements, nothing about what is starting when. Not even a typed greeting followed by a "hey, don't forget to get registered for the upcoming season...", just a big image linking to you register.

But I guess that really just said it all right there.

And from what I understand the new coach is already on his way out ......he is trying to set ground rules and suspend players and they haven't had one meeting or practice ? They (the Board) should just ALL resign and give the program to Steedle and let him run it .....just a little friendly advice from the gallery !

Suspend players for what, if they haven't played or practiced??

Never thought of that.  He was always voted most popular, top teammate, or person who everyone wanted to play with on the teams, and I thought it was just because he was easy going and never complained.  Maybe it was more about the way he played than his personality in general.

Crosby has said Simon is one of the most skilled players on that whole team. Matt Murray has been quoted with that same opinion as well.
