I don’t see someone like cal being able to get regular ice at bethel or sp. between Pahl programs and varsity hockey there is no ice to sell. I could be wrong but I feel the reason the second sheet was taken out of sp was due to a foundation issue. Both of these places are probably not a desirable drive for college kids from that campus. more than likely they will have to play out of that dump the ice mine if it’s still around.

I feel like someone once said when they started to remodel that school years ago a rink was being put in with the basketball facility or started but the state cut the funding. nobody is advocating for the rink to go away, as another poster said the writing is on the wall. I don’t think it makes it through next season if the church really wants it. They will pay the high asking price. if something happens to murph you can bet that family takes the first offer regardless what it is.

I just heard this from a TJ board member today. I think this church thing has some real traction.

That was the one half decent team they had. I believe they mostly came from NP with fritz and dw. it was the 02 birth year. After the season most split. PPE grabbed a few and esmark grabbed a few. that team was an anomaly, it will never happened again. It was really 3 kids that carried that team. Two of those 3 went to ppe and won nationals the falling year. These two kids were instrumental in ppe winning that year.

Umm the icemen & predators already are landing pads for mid level AA to A major players but I get your drift, they are not going anywhere.

At the 18U level I’m not so sure it’s people waking up about the faux AAA programs such as the predators & icemen - I’m thinking they are just getting suckered into tier3 “junior hockey”. Maybe I’m wrong.

I’m not saying anything is made up. A 5-6 years ago he was part owner of a usphl team. He was pumping up the usphl premier like crazy. Taking shots at the wshl & na3hl. They are all garbage leagues. Back then he was also trying to make an argument the ncdc was better than nahl.

That’s why it will go away at some point, Some company will buy it, turn it into a warehouse. If Murph passes away - you can get bet that family will take the first offer regardless how much it is.

King of tier 3 & tier 2.5 (ncdc). I just looked at the site, it’s been years but not much has changed. He’s still pawning the ncdc off like it’s the same level as the ushl or nahl. He is trashing the heck out of tier 3 junior hockey though.

Watch out for that guy. He was heavily invested with the usphl.

That place (rostraver) with its location is not worth 3 million. It’s been many years since I have been there. It was in real bad shape then. I do recall feeling like I was getting sick when the Zamboni ran, all that carbon monoxide has to be illegal ? I just don’t see any hockey group investing in that place due to location, improvements needed & it’s only one sheet.

I doubt this would be a place black bear would be interested in. My guess a developer buys the property at some point, the rink will be gone. Who plays out of there still ? Mon valley Pahl club, TJ HS, EF HS & Cal U ?

I’m not 100% sure that’s the complete message in this thread. You may want to head over to the junior hockey thread with the charts for some perspective. Go look over the few western pa kids currently playing real junior hockey from for 00-04 birth year. These kids mainly come from PPE with the odd esmark kid here and there. is your kid in the 1% ? If not, yes if they continue to play until they age out they will end up in beer league like everyone else. You have a better chance hitting the power ball vs your kid making it to ncaa d1 hockey. let’s just say your kid is that talented. Has the skills to get to the ncaa d1 level. Do you have the connections ? The money ? Can your kid handle the mental part of playing in a league like the ushl ? Moving away their junior or senior year to live with a family in the middle of North Dakota ? The injuries ? That’s a lot for a 16-18 year old kid to handle - process. There is so much that goes into “making it” beyond having the ability, That’s why very few do. There are handful of kids at every birth year in western pa that have the talent but dont have the connections, money etc. a close friend of mine who worked in the OHL for 2 years once told me this - 75% of these guys playing in the “O” have the talent to make it to the NHL but they won’t because their families don’t have the lineage or connections.

the half season sounds like it could work in PAHL’s favor. AA teams cut down tournament costs, travel etc. maybe develop rivalries with teams across the state or Ohio line. In theory it looks like a good thing. Time will tell how it’s executed.

This season in 18U “AAA” Mt Lebanon was considered the best of the “faux” “aaa” group correct ? They still didn’t make districts. Mt Lebanon tied the AA foxes team. Again in the end, it’s all AA hockey. In some instances such as the icemen and predators - they’ve got kids they wouldn’t make a Pahl AA team to fill out the roster & pay money. as for practice being when kids develop ? Somewhat true - a good skating & skills coach does far more for development. Games are important, you can’t simulate the decision making, seeing the ice, avoiding contact, Etc in practice.

Conceited, trying to justify money lost, development wasted. Keeping up with the jones’ your practice assessment is 100% spot on.

Calm down predator’s mom. FYI - the majority birth year AA teams have non parent head coaches & practice two nights a week. Your reasoning - better coaching at “AAA” is extremely far off. Again, It’s not real AAA anyway.

Western pa is not Canada, Sweden, Finland or even Michigan.

I didn’t berate any kids, my comments are direct at the clubs, the people running them along with the A chasing parents.
