  1. Acceptable risk is something that's debatable. I don't know and everyone has there own level of tolerance so I'll be glad to follow rules set forth by our health officials for a while. There may come a time where I am fed up as well, but we're only 5 1/2 months into this. Pandemics have always gone away, but not that quickly. I'm hopeful for some significant medical advances in the near future. I can live by these rules for a bit longer, but there could come a time where i give up as well. I'm not ready to yet. I ultimately want what's best for the kids and most on this forum do as well. I want to get back to real hockey as soon as possible. It won't be possible if health officials don't see good progress. I can respect those that don't like the rules but complaining isn't going to change their mind. It will just make them more tentative to ease restrictions.
  2. Your the one complaining about what you can't do anymore. The longer that people like you have the "It's like the flu" or "It's not that big of a deal" attitude, the longer that you will be stuck in your miserable, freedom fighting world where you can't have the fun that you would like to. Nobody is locking us up. The rules are in place so we can back to living a better life sooner than later.
  3. I respect many opinions I disagree with but saying that they aren't good transmitters is completely baseless. It's your alternative fact. Those kind of statements are the last thing we need now.
  4. That's good news that it would be hard to trace. That helps a lot if there is an asymptomatic outbreak on a sports team. Health officials wouldn't know exactly where all the new cases originated and we could still play. It would work out well as long as it wasn't our players that were getting hospitalized. I don't think you cherry-picked any facts about how the 18 & under group don't transmit it. That is completely made up.
  5. Little Johnny died? I thought it was like the flu. What happens if Big Johnny dies because Little Johnny brought it home? What happens if Big Johnny then takes it to work and gives it to Mary and then she spends the rest of her life as an asthmatic? Maybe Mary and her family family signed the the same waiver and everything will be good. Why not get liability insurance? It is relatively cheap to cover things that are such low risk.
  6. But how could they sue? What would the damages be if Covid-19 is so overblown?
  7. Why haven't we been asked to sign flu waivers? Why is it just for Covid-19? You seem to be implying that they are very similar.
  8. I agree. My only problem with hockey is with the trust that the people running things will adhere to safety protocols. If the off-ice precautions are enforced within each rink, it is way safer than basketball.
  9. I was hoping for more clarity this morning. I wonder if any actual decisions have been made or it's another case of kick the can down the road. I would suspect that hockey & basketball will be in sync or people involved in one of those sports will go nuts. I think basketball appears to be higher risk, but others may say the bench areas are more adaptable to social distancing and mask wearing is more convenient since there are no shift changes & helmets to deal with.
  10. My advice. Try to stay positive and the kids will have more fun. The more that the adults complain, the harder it will be for the players.
  11. I would rate basketball higher risk than hockey. You get the ball and someone if breathing in your face, sometimes for several seconds. Besides that, everybody touches the ball. The most exposure for hockey would be on the bench. I would avoid having kids in locker rooms.
  12. This may come as surprise to some, but I don't see why we can't let spectators in. There would definitely be a limit to allow for social distancing. People would need to sign up and be assigned to a numbered spot in the bleachers. This would work great in theory, but the fear is that people would not respect those assigned spots and not be able to resist congregating. That would then cause arguments & fight over masks etc... It would get on the news and there would come more pressure to shut down.
  13. The pods idea would probably get approved for each sheet of ice per rink if there was a way to cut off the shared facilities in the lobby.
  14. That's the part that so many do not understand. Most of us would like to see the kids get to play. Breaking the rules will likely have the opposite effect.
  15. My one friend always says "Rules are for people that need them". Maybe the governor should just make that proclamation.
  16. But 25 is the state limit, not just NP. Am I wrong?
  17. Thanks for this info. Does NP have limits based on the current state regulations or are they imposing their own?
  18. I'm thinking that we will figure this out. We will survive this and look back and find some positives. Youth sports play an important part in preparing kids for their life as adults. This includes constantly adjusting to the times. I am OK with weird hockey or no hockey for a while. I know that I may be in the minority because my kids are the kids that a few parents probably wish weren't on their team. They are often the ones that you don't want out there on that last crucial shift of the game. As a result, they channel most of there energy toward other activities. We won't miss the traditional form of hockey quite as much.
  19. Are you confusing me with someone else? I'm not advocating for 5 on 5 with 9 skaters. I'm a safety first guy. I was simply comparing the sacrifice of not having as much fun as we used to (for a little while) with the sacrifices of other generations.
  20. Yea. He's got to keep his sons employed. Too bad his son basically got himself kicked out of pro hockey and now needs this business to support him.
  21. If our youth could be sent to fight and die in a foreign land for a cause they didn't know much about or were even opposed to, then they can play summer hockey for a while.
  22. So your saying they will vote with one of the options being not playing at all. OK. I thought you were saying that the decision was made on how we are going to proceed and, if you don't like it, quit. Thanks for the "Reading Comprehension" comment. We should all be throwing in those little digs in, so we can be reminded that we're not friends at all.
  23. Oh Wow. This has become rumor central. 4 on 4, 5 on 5, checking vs no checking. Let's all wager on what will actually happen.
  24. But Danner27 said that the plan is already in place: 9 Skaters, 4 on 4, no checking.
  25. I'm not debating that and I think my own kids have been spoiled by their cozy suburban life. I often need to reel them in when things don't go their way and I blame myself. These kids won't suffer in the long run. They will learn a lesson.
