  1. Unfortunately our Gov. has seen to it that we the parents cannot make that decision this fall.
  2. Any NP / Foxes families on here? Anyone happy about what their own orgs are proposing???
  3. Another tip is that in addition to NP spearheading this movement, the Foxes/RMU are thought aligned with NP/Baierl and are driving this bus. When are some of the larger orgs going to stand up to this proposed fiasco? We have got to get our ORG Presidents to rebuke these idiotic proposals. I agree with the above poster, if this silly "9 at a time" thing is enacted, you will lose players off rosters quickly and that will damage hockey badly... 9 at a time is merely an attempt to MAKE MONEY for the rinks and orgs instead of shutting things down. It is NOT hockey. I don't know what it is, but how are you going to count mite like games as regular games??
  4. Apparently nobody paid any attention to that. Our game was full team vs full team and no crowd limits in Westmoreland County.
  5. Someone will have to address that... an anonymous tip came to me that NP due to Baierl limits is complaining the loudest that they have a 25 limit and therefore so should everyone else thereby pushing their views on everyone else. So why is it that ONE out of all the orgs bitches and moans and the PAHL acquiesces to them and makes everyone suffer??? If someone who is more a direct party to this all would post more details, that would be great.
  6. Here are the docs from today's conference call. What I am hearing is that the NP Wildcats and Baierl rink are causing most of the problems and the push towards this stupidity, because they have limits at their rink. As far as I'm concerned they can FO and play their games somewhere else or not at all. Not sure how we're going to proceed this fall. This may cause a lot of kids to quit as not sure the money is worth it. What do you do, put your worst bunch out first and the best bunch out for the second half? Am I a little hot over this? You bet I am. One more year of this BS and I'm done with the PAHL!!!!! RULES 2021 PAHL_Game Play_25 max_DRAFT.pdf RULES 2021 PAHL_Proposals due to Covid-19_Voting.pdf
  7. It would be nice if we the parents could make the decision on behalf of our family. This virus is no worse than any other one that mankind has faced, I will agree with that.
  8. And so I must ask again, why the hell is DICKtator Wolf giving youth sports a problem when .001 percent of that age group are getting COVID? That’s less of a chance than getting the annual flu, cold, strep throat, etc. This is all such BS at the expense of our youth not getting a good education or physical activity, and all in the name of politics.
  9. Had our game today. Zero restrictions at the rink (in Westmoreland county). Full teams on the benches. Ref on the ice and several parents in the stands. Nobody from the rink cracked down on anything.
  10. Agree with all your replies but supposedly this is something new. I will try to find a written statement on this. we have a game today at 3pm so I guess we will see how that goes
  11. Supposedly there is now a 25 person limit inside any rink. That ought to just about kill hockey for the time being.
  12. Word has it that midam and USA hockey will be making a “ruling” this evening on the status of hockey this weekend and perhaps in the near future. I’m usually very optimistic but I don’t expect this to go well.
  13. Two former AAA girls that I have ties to (both female) were accepted to SSA to play on their prep girls team, but the "aid" package still would have cost both >$18k a year including boarding. Neither accepted as it was too expensive. Both were subsequently cut from PPE. The other 2-3 girls who were on their PPE team and accepted the SSA spot were kept on the PPE team. (At the time the head coach of PPE girls was also the head coach of SSA girls).
  14. Lots of good posts here. ?? I appreciate everyone's thoughts ...
  15. I get what you're saying but 1 kid a year from the PGH area on the mens team? and about 0.5 girls a year locally on the Women's team is ridiculous.
  16. RMU Mens? The RMU women's are far worse in terms of numbers...
  17. I get what you're saying but to have a roster of 99% foreigners doesn't do anything for local hockey - or hockey in the USA - at all. Why would fans turn out for RMU hockey if none of the players are local? Why is why I've never, ever gone to an RMU game despite being an Alum. I didn't say totally limit to local players but maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the team to be from the USA (and some local) would be nice. At least most of the other RMU sports have a blend of mostly kids from the USA and a good mix of local players. Why even have a sport if the entire team is going to be foreigners? I am not sure who that is helping other than those kids from other countries. That means scholarship money is going to those kids when those kids otherwise couldn't care less about RMU or Pittsburgh, and there are good players in PA/WV/OH/NY who would LOVE to play local but will never get a shot at RMU other than club hockey. If they wanted to find REALLY GOOD local talent, they would.
  18. As an offshoot of my thread about college hockey getting cancelled in the fall... I would like to bring up the topic of the lack of D1 hockey in WPA and specifically RMU. As a long time hockey parent of both a female and male player, I can tell you it is a big turnoff when we go to Robert Morris Neville Island and see the team pics of their D1 teams... and 99% of the players on both teams are 1) players out of the area and 2) mostly players from Canada. It's not very exciting to say to your player "look at the RMU teams, Johnny! Maybe someday you can play there"... when the reality is unless you're literally the BEST local player, you don't have a shot at the RMU teams. I find it a big turnoff to see all the Canadians on the RMU roster. And I am an RMU grad. It's not much of a boost to local hockey when basically nobody on the only D1 team around is from WPA. An no, I am not an Anti-Canadian racist. I just don't care to see the entire mens & womens RMU rosters as Canadians when there are a lot of good local hockey players. It really seems like RMU doesn't bother even looking at local talent.
  19. Yikes... I can see that there isn't much financial upside to college hockey - for the colleges but didn't think that those programs might be cut altoghether.
  20. I think the curve will spike up again all of October! LOL
  21. Just got word today that Cal (U of PA) will not be doing hockey games at least through 12/31/20. Practices are a question and what happens after 12/31 is a question as well. Cal has fully switched to online classes for this fall, nothing will be open on campus this whole fall. So this likely means all the other teams locally that Cal plays are also going to be in the same boat hockey-wise. Very disappointing...
  22. Correct. Also, the GOVT should SUGGEST what we should do, but should not FORCE us to do things.
  23. Those are the same signs posted everywhere. The gov is now in the business of closing businesses and telling us what to wear. for the past 5 billion years viruses have worked themselves out fine without gov shutdowns. We are adults and should make our own decisions about the risks we want to assume.
  24. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pennlive.com/coronavirus/2020/07/mask-order-in-pa-could-last-until-there-is-a-coronavirus-vaccine-wolf-says-and-hes-concerned-about-new-breakouts.html%3foutputType=amp that will likely cause serious issues for pretty much everything going on in PA. Not happy about this.
