  1. It is a shame we cannot celebrate the great accomplishment of Team Pittsburgh ......great job to Paul Bonetti and Team Pittsburgh players
  2. Congrats to Paul Bonetti and Team Pittsburgh for a dominating performance. Just goes to show when you pick the right coaches they pick the right team and the past two years win the America's Showcase Title. 54 Goals for and 5 Goals Against is total domination of this tournament and a great testimony to a lot of good hockey players from Western Pa Hockey !
  3. Pittsburgh vs Texas in Championship Congrats to Olda, who is headed to the University of Pittsburgh for Engineering and ACHA Division 1 Hockey
  4. NO USHL Scouts are attending Mostly Tier 3 Juniors and ACHA Division 1 Schools are attending
  5. Didn't Plum 3-14 in Class AA beat Burrell in the Charity Game this year ? Not sure ?
  6. There are several kids on Team Pittsburgh this year who do not play High School Hockey and they are eligible if their school does not have a program, The Tournament itself is trying to come back to the prominence it enjoyed in Chicago, but without North Dakota, Michigan, Minnesota, Massachusetts and other states competing, it is not the same tournament it once was. In Chicago, the USHL and NAHL scouts would regularly attend and was a great event !
  7. There are a couple of mid season tournaments in Jamestown, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame that give ANY school (Pure or Unpure) at ANY level (USA Hockey and NHFS) a chance to compete against the better teams. Schools from Maryland, Eastern and Western Pa., Ohio (USA Hockey and Federation), Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota and other states come compete and the competition level is pretty good. Ringgold came to Pittsburgh and competed well and did not win a game against AAA,AA, A and Out of Town Schools. Why the USA Hockey Tournament is not so great is because # 1 the high school hockey season is over in March after State Tournaments and # 2 you don't see states like Massachusetts, Minnesota , Wisconsin, North Dakota New Jersey, New York and others who play under the National High School Federation (NHFS) and are sanctioned High School Programs and never will because of the dates of this tournament being outside the guidelines of the Winter Sports Season. I have never been a great fan of co-op because it deters building pure High School Programs. They exist and they need a place to compete and kudos to Burrell for going to Cleveland and competing well.
  8. Team Pittsburgh has been a part of High School Hockey in Western Pennsylvania for over 30 years,,,,,,wow !
  9. This National High School Tournament is a stretch with NO State Champions Representation from Illinois (New Trier), Indiana (Culver), Ohio (St Ignatius), Maryland Mid Atlantic Prep (DeMatha), Pennsylvania AAA (LaSalle) and several other states. The concept is good and the execution is less than a National Championship, although Santa Margarita CAL, Edina MN and Regis Jesuit COL are very good programs along with Bayard Rustin A PA and Pine Richland AA PA. Congrats to Burrell for a nice showing in a Tournament with ALL Co-Ops USA Hockey Registered Teams. Please note that NO High School Federation Schools are eligible to participate in Division 1 (PURE) or Division 2 (COOP)

  13. My son played for the Mid State Mustangs last year and after several less than stellar amateur programs we were involved with over the years we found that the Mustangs with Glenn and Garrett Barbarosa along with Brian Kurtz were terrific coaches and although we fell a little short at Nationals ...........this was a class organization and a lot of fun people on the team
