  1. Pitt is ranked 5th in their own league ? Wow IUP ? RMU ?
  2. I attended several Mars Games over the past few years and the had a decent team that could not compete due to lack of goaltending. Mars would out play teams and get beat bad and the players would give up. Tough situation and frustrating for coaches and players and parents as well. Things have changed and its a better situation now
  3. The Varsity Tournament currently is full with 16 Schools (1 from Colorado, 3 from Illinois, 1 from Indiana, 1 from Maryland, 1 from New York 3 from Ohio 1 from Ontario, 1 from Eastern Pa and 4 from Western Pennsylvania pre-registered) . We also have 4 schools on the Waiting List. St Joseph's Prep NY will replace Rocky River Ohio
  4. As we get ready for the 2023-24 season, I want to remind everyone that the 27th Pa Hockey Scholastic Showcase will be held on December 29-31 2023 at the Alpha Ice Complex in Pittsburgh, Pa. I mailed the Tournament Packages with Hotel Information, Rules, Scheduling Info, the Tournament Roster and Final Payment for the Event. The Varsity Tournament currently has 14 Schools (2 from Illinois, 3 from Ohio 1 from Eastern Pa and 8 from Western Pennsylvania pre-registered) and will take 16 schools. The Junior Varsity Tournament currently is full and has 8 Schools (1 from Illinois, 2 from Ohio and 5 from Western Pennsylvania pre-registered) with a Waiting List. - If your school wants one of the remaining 2 spots, please contact Jeff Mauro at jeffmauro@aol.com or 412-848-3750 to reserve a spot. If a school is interested in participating in this event, it should mail or e-mail a fully executed ‘Letter of Interest’ and the Deposit of $ 750 to the Pa Hockey Foundation PO Box 10598 Pittsburgh Pa 15235 to secure your spot.
  5. Ok smart guy .....so I guess the whole Armstrong situation with the Lack of a decent Goaltender had nothing to do with it ?. I tried to soft peddle it but I guess I am way out of line ? Steve Meyers is a good coach and the change of programs to Shaler seems to be working out and Mars seems to be heading in the right direction under Cody Black as well.
  6. Two Pennsylvania State Titles and 4 Penguins Cups on his resume isn't bad either
  7. Mars will be back in AA soon they have talent and wouldn't surprise me if they are in the PC Mix.......Cody has changed the culture already and they graduated some problems from prior years which led to Steve Meyers demise. Butler is a work in progress ..............Shaler would not surprise me if they are in PC Mix Another Huge school with JV Players + Rinks
  8. Been there ...........FR was 1-97-4 over four years when I began development in 2007-2015 and two Penguins Cups and three more finals later is solid AA Program.....still poke my nose in from time to time I have my hands full with plenty of hockey projects thank you and enjoy doing them ! Mars is on their way with kids money and Cody Black will do a great job Shaler is Shaler and will find a way to screw anything up but Myers has won a couple of States with Mars so good luck to him Butler is a huge school lots of kids and money and should be embarassed to be in A
  9. So what ? They go through coaches like toilet paper and mismanage their programs and get put in Class A ? These are some big schools with lots of players in the district and plenty of rinks to get their talent. Norwin and Fox Chapel are two more n this category
  10. Mars Butler and Shaler all have JV Teams and should be in AA
  11. First of all, the PIHL is a shade of what it started out to be as over 20 years when it started in 1999 it has lost nearly 40 organizations from the 90 or so it started with. The Vision was to have geographic rivalries at AAA, AA, and A and have pure schools to compete for the Penguins Cup and State Championship. Two conferences Northeast and Southwest, Geographically divided to control travel and costs. I didn't happen and schools got priced out for a multitude of reasons and programs started vanishing. The competitive formula has its limits and does not take into account development at JV and Middle School and program numbers. And of course losing heavy Senior Classes. The last three years record has little of nothing do with the current roster (ie Kiski). The goal of the PIHL should be to have 16 at AAA, 16 at AA and 16 at A and geographically divide schools for a 22 Game Regular season schedule and have 8 schools in the playoffs to have kittle prestige to the Penguins Cup. Better Times YES Press Coverage YES Attractive to Travel Players YES Kudos to Ten Band doing a great job covering HS Hockey and more to come
  12. Not Really for Richland and Westmont in Johnstown and Freeport
  13. Look Above Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania has had a suspension placed on their club men's hockey team for a few years now. They had broke school rules outside of the rink and the school decided to suspend the team all together. Now years later with the team all graduated and gone, there is still no ice hockey team for the men to play on at the university. The school is filled with many players dying to keep playing the game they have loved their entire life. I am a current freshman at the university and want nothing more than to be able to play hockey again. We have never been a part of the school's team and we had absolutely nothing to do with the mistakes of the past, all we want to do is continue to play the game that has absolutely changed our lives, like many others. We are fighting to bring the team back for the next coming season of 2023-2024. We don't want to continue waiting around to play the sport we love.
  14. Its time because the ACHA Wannabe's are a little too complacent in their recruiting efforts and letting a lot of good local talent slip to their d2 teams or cutting them. So if you're a 7 / 8 Def or 13-16 Forward on Pitt, IUP, RMU or other local ACHA Power pay attention and you can go someplace like SRU and get a good education and play for this once up and coming ACHA Dynamo. The four year hiatus is over and it;s time to rebuild the Pride of Slippery Rock !

  16. Sweep for Pitt over Syracuse IUP throttles Mercyhurst and RMU and is clearly tops in CHMA
  17. I watched them play Norwin and Hempfield and Latrobe (who I also have seen) are a little stronger along with a couple of non ranked teams as well
  18. I try to see a lot of games and pay attention and then rank the teams
