  1. Sweep for Pitt over Syracuse IUP throttles Mercyhurst and RMU and is clearly tops in CHMA
  2. I watched them play Norwin and Hempfield and Latrobe (who I also have seen) are a little stronger along with a couple of non ranked teams as well
  3. I try to see a lot of games and pay attention and then rank the teams

  5. Danner, IUP has a pretty good program and they should win the CHMA again. Pitt has a pretty good Program and will compete for the league title again. My point is they are top 10 Wannabees. It's all about recruiting locally and regionally as putting a solid group together of 26-27. SRU was well on their way until that got derailed, but the best these local schools can hope for is top 15 National Ranking based on their current model and schedule .
  6. Umberger and Zeiler (Both NHLers) both had around 100 points in HS Season in the same era, but 100 Goals was unreal and the great thing is the powers to be kept Sargo off Team Pittsburgh, which is an absolute joke!
  7. Another echo of my point about Pitt and IUP Nationally. Pitt got swept by Davenport and IUP split with Delaware. Both are in the 12 -25 Wannabee Category and frankly are where they are in the rankings. Pitt will likely drop from their 12th position. IUP doesn't deserve to be in top 20.
  8. Never say Never................Mike Sargo who scored over 300 points at WVU, 100 Goals in Class AAA at Gateway and is in the ACHA Hall of Fame was given an opportunity to skate with AHL Wilke Barre Scranton Penguins .............kids that do exceptional things get opportunity against the norm ..............It happened !
  9. https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/hsother/2019/02/08/Jamie-Mauro-record-setting-hockey-season-Slippery-Rock-Franklin-Regional-Dave-Grimm/stories/201902060081 Read the last Paragraph Copernicus ...........Pretty Good for a 19 yo to lead the Nation in ACHA College Hockey in scoring and SRU was ranked in top 25 as well
  10. He was only 19 at the time because he started college like Normal People do after graduating HS and not as a 21 or 22 yo
  11. Danner - We're on the same page ................After the kid lit it up at SRU (sports Mgt and Finance) ..........calls came from USHL + NAHL + Pitt + Ohio + NCAA D III after SRU abandon the hockey program and he chose ...............IUP Eberly Business College MBA .............I'm loven it now!
  12. IUP is always on the fringe socially because it like Slippery Rock is an affordable State school with a multitude of social issues. Our family looked at Pitt, Ohio, RMU and others and my question was were we going to put our family and son into debt for many years. The solution was get an undergraduate degree + MBA from SRU and IUP , which thanks to a smart kid who applied himself is paying off. The Hockey was a bonus and those adult league teams are filled with kids from Pitt, Ohio, RMU and others.
  13. As we get ready for the 2023-24 season, I want to remind everyone that the 27th Pa Hockey Scholastic Showcase will be held on December 29-31 2023 at the Alpha Ice Complex in Pittsburgh, Pa. I will be mailing the Tournament Packages with Hotel Information, Rules, Scheduling Info, the Tournament Roster and Final Payment very soon to complete arrangements for the Event. The Varsity Tournament currently has 14 Schools (2 from Illinois, 3 from Ohio 1 from Ontario and 8 from Western Pennsylvania pre-registered) and will take 16 schools. The Junior Varsity Tournament currently is full and has 8 Schools (1 from Illinois, 2 from Ohio and 5 from Western Pennsylvania pre-registered) with a Waiting List. - If your school wants one of the remaining 3 spots, please contact Jeff Mauro at jeffmauro@aol.com or 412-848-3750 to reserve a spot. If a school is interested in participating in this event, it should mail or e-mail a fully executed ‘Letter of Interest’ and the Deposit of $ 750 to the Pa Hockey Foundation PO Box 10598 Pittsburgh Pa 15235 to secure your spot.
  14. JJ Vasilko Richland Coach is a Class Act ...........Good Luck Richland
  15. Adrian + Liberty + Minot + SW Oklahoma + Ohio + UNLV + a few others are the Elite 8 or so that have lots of 22 -24 yo Junior NAHL USHL Caliber players ............Pitt and IUP and RMU are wannabees in that circle. These school rival NCAA D III and some low level NCAA D-1 Programs
  16. When the coaches of the club teams stop talking out of both sides of their mouths as they supposedly HS friendly and then screw kids then maybe things will change. Smart people see through it and let their kids play HS and stand up to the bullying I did it and it paid off and AA Midget and ACHA Division 1 was a very good option for our family
  17. What you discount is most of these schools from Colorado + Ohio Fed + East Pa + Culver Varsity + Illinois + Ontario HA + DeMatha have different commitment levels for their HS teams and bring their full teams to these events (and NA and Cathedral Prep have that level too in recent years )
  18. IUP Division 1 with sweep of Canisius 7-3 and 5-0 is very deep and strong team and will be tough to beat in CHMA. Too bad them and Pitt wont schedule each other ..............clearly two best college ACHA locally

  22. Danner - Alot of these kids are getting cut by Pitt and IUP and may end up in D3 ACHA...............Time to launcn Slippery Rock in 24
