  1. Maybe the cut motivated the player to reach his potential!
  2. From Baierls rules: • Separate events – (2) ½ ice practices can be held if the practices are separated by 2 sets of bumpers at least 3’ on each side of the center red line creating at least a 6’ unoccupied space between the 2 practices. Participants from either side are not permitted to cross over and should use a separate entrance and exit if possible. So Baierl is saying it's OK to put 50 people on the ice for practice but you can only have 25 for games. That makes a lot of sense! Seems like they are making up their own rules. And good for them. At least they are trying to be creative. Another reason why this whole thing makes no sense to me.
  3. Exactly my point. I don't believe the rink ownership is going to dictate how you use the ice. It is more of the fact that MidAm and USA Hockey won't sanction the games. There are a lot of Tournament Companies that are providing insurance etc privately sanctioning tournaments. What's the need for USA Hockey if you can play these tournaments almost every weekend? How many teams actually qualify for MidAm playoffs? That's why the Pens Elite are in a real bind because they can't get sanctioned games and it is killing their model and selling point. I can't believe those parents are going to stay quiet much longer. I wonder if PAHL has looked into providing their own insurance for games?
  4. Is it Baierl that is letting them or is it North Pittsburgh who is being creative. I still contend that the Private Rink Owners do not care how you use the ice once you rent it as long as it doesn't go over their Recreational Use maximum.
  5. Wow, I guess I am seeing different things than you folks are seeing. I just counted 30 kids on the rink not counting coaches and people in the stands at Baierl. That's one rink how many people were in the other rink? They are all under one roof, Strict interpretation of the 25 person rule would mean 25 total in the building. Has anyone been in a situation where a rink owner told them they had too many people on the ice? Has a rink been shut down because of non compliance or a covid outbreak?
  6. I don't see a privately owned rink anywhere abiding by the Governors mandate. Go look at live barn! Why would a rink owner care to limit to 25 people. No one! I repeat no one is enforcing the mandate. They would put their business on the line by telling people what to do with their ice time. The 25 is being enforced by PIHL & PAHL not the rink owners. Rink owners consider themselves a recreational facility. I really don't appreciate the name calling. No need for that kind of talk on a public forum.
  7. Wow, not sure what world you are in. The only rinks I know of that are strictly enforcing the 25 are UPMC, RMU. I see all kinds of people at other rinks playing full Hockey games. Why would a private rink want to enforce that mandate if it is Unconstitutional? The only question I see is how the PAHL and PIHL are going to interpret it and how USA Hockey and Mid Am see it.
  8. According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, lawyers argue that, barring a stay, the indoor and outdoor gathering limits can’t be enforced.
  9. It's a 66 page document. I haven't seen it posted anywhere but what I have read quotes it. The judge ruled the limit on gatherings, which is 25 people for indoors and 250 people for outdoors, violates the First Amendment. It was also ruled the 14th Amendment was violated when all non-life-sustaining businesses closed. That's taken from Courthouse News Service.
  10. Wow, that's very interesting! He is listed on a 10U,12U, and 18U Team. I guess that's him listed. Is he suspended by USA Hockey?
  11. Based on this decision I don't see how the MidAm and USA Hockey could continue to say that they will not sanction games in Western PA. Wolf is appealing the decision. I think he would have a real hard time shutting things down because of his mandates at this point. I wonder what the PAHL and PIHL have to say about this Ruling?
  12. Does he coach a team? What does he have to do at SHAHA now?
  13. Sorry, I was befuddled! Just want to see Hockey played everywhere in it's true form. It's time for Wolf to let them play!
  14. What are you talking about? This was in regards to a Tournament Alpha Tournament Company was hosting. All I wanted to know was if they were following the mandates (which I think are silly)! I wasn't stirring anything! Just a simple question. I can go on live barn to see how all the other rinks in the area are playing except when they black them out like some rinks are doing. I like to watch games. Don't understand why Alpha does not have live barn. There are probably 10 or so Organizations that skate out of Alpha why do you pick out SCIR? Maybe you need to go to Step 4. Reread the full thread and figure it out.
  15. From Darcee Purvis to PAHL Organizations: Over the last week I have spent a good bit of time going over again in detail the Covid documents that are ruling our activity right now. I have also had multiple conversations with Mid Am leadership concerning the same, and concerning some upcoming legislation, PA HB2832. What is abundantly clear is that the documents that have been put out over the last couple months are inconsistent and poorly written. Because of that the result is that we end up bound to follow the most restrictive interpretation to be compliant. So Mid Am has continued to say that the 25 max limit ordered by the governor must be adhered to in order for our games to be sanctioned. This is how their legal council has continued to interpret the restrictions. It is the same on the eastern side of the state in the Atlantic District. I have pushed and prodded to change the interpretation, but without success. So a different plan of action is needed while we wait for the Governor to change his mind. Recently legislation was passed in the PA House that can unencumber youth sports under the jurisdiction of a school district. That legislation is in the PA Senate now, awaiting passage there. It passed through the Appropriations Committee today, 19-5, and will advance to the full Senate for consideration. There is new legislation that will be considered next week when the PA House is back in session (9/15) that will go the next step to aid the operation of youth sports in an indoor venue. That is PA HB2832 (see attached) which will "provide for event venue indoor space operation" and be subject to "Limitation.--An event venue may not use more than 50% of the event venue's seating capacity during operation". I have been told by Mid Am leadership that if this bill passes and is not opposed by the governor, then Mid Am will sanction our games with full rosters, to the extent that the full rosters and staff, plus permitted spectators, plus anyone else in the building, does not exceed 50% of the building capacity as noted in the bill. This also has been run past their legal council. In the case of all of our rinks, that should be more than sufficient to play our games with full rosters and a reasonable number of spectators, appropriately social distanced and masked, etc. There is always the possibility that something else could happen in the meantime to remove restrictions. Today, the governor loosened up on restaurants, moving to 50% from 25%. However, we don't want to stop moving and trying to enact change while we wait. ACTION ITEM Please have your membership email/call their PA legislators once again to push for the approval of PA HB2832 (attached). They need to hear from their constituents that this is an important bill to the operation of youth amateur sports in an indoor venue. We need this to pass with a veto proof majority. Contact everyone in your district, republicans and democrats. We want the kids to be able to play and we want the parents to be able to watch. Find your legislator: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/index.cfm Contact house legislators: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_information/contact.cfm?body=H I know everyone is grasping at straws to get things opened up. Trying to fit our sport into other interpretations that will let us play right now like we want. Please, patience. We still have 6 weeks before we are slated to begin PAHL game play for the regular season. That is a lot of time for change to happen. We meet again next Tuesday. At that time we will discuss what happens through this week, and we can talk about other contingency planning. The Ex Board will be meeting again this weekend to go over the backup Plan for the 25 max, and will also discuss other contingency options. Thanks. Darcee Darcee Purvis Executive Director, PAHL pahlconnect@pahockey.com 724-853-2474 (H)
  16. Cash is on the way!!!! I'd rather spend it on you than some AAA teams.
  17. So if I read the PAHL Calender Summary correctly they don't even schedule regular season games till after October 11th for 12U and up? Seems like a long time from the start of the season till games start. Hopefully it gives enough time to get rid of the 25 person mandate. Gives me a little hope that it might happen although I think it all depends on the numbers in the next 2 weeks to see if we get a spike from Labor Day parties.. I think everybody that can is playing out of State to get regular games in. Way to take the money out of PA Governor!
  18. Anybody hear of any games this weekend? I know there were some out of town tournaments. Too early for My Hockey Rankings. I thought I heard that Preds played the Vengenance. Maybe 06 AAA . Sure would be nice if Alpha got Live Barn.
  19. That's why I think the mandate is real hard to enforce. I guess the governor could fine the PAHL if they are not in compliance. Don't think I have heard of any place being fined or cited other than bars. They threaten to revoke their liquor license which would shut them down.
  20. The way I see it it's not the rinks job to enforce a 25 limit on sports. The rink sells the ice and doesn't care how it is used other than making sure that they don't exceed the capacity limit. Is it 25 or 50 percent for indoor recreation facilities.
  21. When people see that other people signed it they are more likely to get involved. It's not bragging. They should be proud of themselves for doing something and letting others know.
  22. Why are there no comments on this? Where are the people saying I signed it? Come on folks. These petitions given to the right people can be powerful things.
  23. Thanks for posting it again. I posted it on Tuesday and didn't get a single comment. I would think that if all the people on this board are so passionate about Hockey they would have acknowledged signing it. Let's go FOLKS! Sign it and pass it on to your friends. Don't have to be Hockey families.
  24. Why do you think they interact other than they took players from SCIR mostly to form their AAA teams.
