  1. That's different. I understand being disappointed. It reaches the spoiled level when one feels so above to making any sacrifices.
  2. Are they keeping it a secret? Or will we see this in an official statement or posted on PAHL/PIHL sites.
  3. My kids are scrubs but they love hockey in any form. The better kids will prefer traditional hockey but will still be happy with any hockey. There are many spoiled kids that will complain because they are used to always getting their way, but they will adjust.
  4. I agree that it would but you would also be making that decision on behalf of the public. I often think that we should just move forward, but then I always get pulled the other direction as I weigh the risks. I'm just not a big risk taker. I probably have less fun than many others because of that. I wish it was as simple as your statement. I wish you didn't have to suffer because of people like me worrying that things could get real bad, There are just so many people like me. Sorry.
  5. My whole argument with issues like this is that people try to simplify them based on politics. It just amazes me that we can't agree that this is so complicated and nobody could possibly have the total solution. These decisions affect everyone (the whole community) not just the young athletes. What happens at the rink, does not stay at the rink. I'm not sure if we need to have these strict guidelines or not and neither is anyone else. I choose to respect guidelines & laws, even the ones I that I think may be overkill.
  6. Yeah. I know. I can't change your mind and you can't change mine. You will always get you news from a different source than mine. I guess it's nice that we can find a place to give us different versions of the facts.
  7. Right. So what experts should we trust? The ones we cherry-pick to fit our agenda or the ones that are in the overwhelming majority?
  8. I would give a detailed response to this but it is useless when you are stuck on the political part. We can't change each others mind about their politics. I try to focus on what the most educated and experienced people regarding a subject are saying. That certainly does not include the politicians.
  9. The kids won't care that much about how big the ice is or how many players are out there or not being allowed to check. They will have fun on the ice no matter what. I think that's the most important thing to the majority. It's the parents that will be crying about their superstar not getting the most for their money. The kids will miss the parents cheering, but they won't miss the ones that jeer & heckle and constantly critique them during the game. The off-ice stuff is will be the hardest for the kids. The strict rules and limited socialization will be tough. No tournaments, No post-game team stops on the way home. Those team-building activities are half the fun (maybe more) and we won't have them this season.
  10. I am missing it too. I would think that there would be some official info somewhere regarding this. I have also been wondering how they have been handling practices. I was told back in June that there was a 20 player limit on the ice. That would mean 10 players per side during the half-ice sessions. The team rosters that are posted have around 17 players per team so some would have to sit out. Are they actually sticking to that or cheating? My kids have friends that have told them that the mask thing isn't being enforced. That's definitely not surprising.
  11. OK.Thanks. I saw that but still don't see any mention of PAHL. PAHL site makes no mention and I am yet to see any site of a PAHL organization refer to it.
  12. Thanks but I don't see any such post. Sorry, It's probably me just missing something. I would love it if you would just post a quote or a link.
  13. So where did the 4 on 4, no checking stuff come from?
  14. So, I guess this is just a really slow moving story. There is nothing official about this anywhere. I think comparing hockey & football is a bit of a stretch. Hockey is usually played indoors. All the experts that I have heard have made it clear that indoor transmission is many times more likely than outdoor. It would be nice if we could get a lot of outdoor ice time for these kids during this crisis. I also don't understand why the kids are still spending time in locker rooms (maskless, I have heard.) It seems easy enough to get changing stations set up outside in all that empty parking space. Bad weather will create a challenge but rinks with big lobbies could accommodate.
  15. OK. Makes sense. The no checking thing would be fine with me if it sticks, but I don't have any AA/AAA caliber players. They will never end up playing high school hockey. I understand the other side as well. It seems to me that it would make sense to keep checking out of youth hockey unless it's A major or higher.
  16. It's all so crazy with different rules everywhere and all these rules just seem optional anyway. People are going to do whatever they want. I hear of all these "violations" and have even seen it happening first hand. Maybe they get a warning, but that's even unlikely. Maybe I should stop even caring so I can start sleeping more at night.
  17. I And what would prevent organizations from just doing their own thing? Forming their own rogue leagues or house leagues? Insurance? Liability?
  18. Maybe he promoted himself from King to God.
  19. That makes sense, but it seems like a hard thing to draw these fine lines and say this rink is better suited than this rink for these rules. It's like saying that the speed limit for Jeeps is 45 in the same place that it is 65 for cars that are less prone to rollover. I get what you are saying, but I think these finely targeted rules will cause more anger than satisfaction even if they are geared toward common sense. I don't have a solution to this. Things are just so complicated right now and I just don't sense any strong leadership from anyone.
  20. The King is dead. Elvis has just left the building.
  21. That 25 person rule has been in place since the new Allegheny County restrictions were put in place at the end of June. Am I wrong?
  22. Parents will go anyway. The freedom fighters will show up and give the part-time security guards more work than they are paid for.
  23. I guess everything will be great now. I hope the football, basketball & hockey teams can advise the marching bands how to enjoy their activity more. They practice in small, socially distanced groups and wear masks unless their actively blowing their horns. The sports teams need to demonstrate to the musicians how to safely breath in each others faces. They also won't be allowed to actually perform in the stadium.
  24. No way that happens. Hockey is on thin ice as it is, being an indoor contact sport.
