  1. See attached. Playing_Rule_Proposals_2021_Version_II.pdf
  2. I have officiated quite a bunch of PAHL and independent games (teams from all over) since the season started; I wear a mask into the rink, but it is off as soon as I enter the officials room. Knock on wood--I have not contracted the virus--or at least showed symptoms. No one in my household has either. I am active in communicating with the players and I really have not "avoided" close contact on the ice during scrums and such. Am I lucky? Did I have it back in November/December of last year? I am flummoxed, but maybe I have just been luck. What is causing the actual spread? Where is this happening? I really do not know, but I do wear my mask at retail stores and going to the ref room and to the parking lot.
  3. Word on the street is that an official from the NAHL/NAPHL event this past weekend has tested positive and that all teams and officials are encouraged to get tested.
  4. Likely--it is going to be difficult enough trying to communicate with players. Since it is not a USA Hockey rule, the responsibility lies with the organizations. Many officials have decided not to skate because of the mask mandate.
  5. Officials will not be addressing masks at all. It is up to the associations, coaches, team managers, and players. If someone does not have a mask on, we will not say a word; the opposing team/organization can then reach out to the league.
  6. Very good point--why should the professionals be exempt? Stay safe!
  7. I was simply trying to give a perspective in terms of game management and such.
  8. Okay, from an officiating perspective, this is horrible for us. *electronic whistles = absurd *mask = arbitrarily absurd *communicating with coaches, scorekeeper, players for offside, easy on the boards, etc. = absolutely absurd
