  1. Coach quits in the newspaper. He cheated, kids were the ones impacted , he walks away. What a low life. I’m sure montour wil. Try to spin this into a we were innocent or targeted. Meanwhile, they cheated by not having any paperwork. Funny how none of the montour accounts on here have any proof. That coach should be embarrassed for how he used that district.

  2. couldn't agree more. I would rather have more ice slots on smaller surfaces than less slots on larger surfaces. thing is, when people say half ice slot, everyone always splits the ice at the redline. I see so much wasted ice because coaches don't talk to each other. Say one coach is going to do one on one battle drills in the corners for 15 minutes. why can't the other coach use 3/4 the ice for that time? and then they switch. if the 2 coaches would work together, the ice could be split in different ways to maximize its usage for the betterment of everybody.

  3. Depends on who you talk to I guess. Always had 2-3 per week when my son played there. As a matter of fact we left hornets for that specific reason. Got sick of having 7 a.m. practices on the mini rink at at Mt. Lebanon. I did ask around with people I know with kids there and generally people seem happy with their ice time. 2-3 practices per week August through end of Sept. and minimum 2 per week during the season. Buddy with a kid on the bottom squirt team said the only weeks they had less practice were weeks that tournaments were at the rink. Also said AAA teams get more consistent ice but they pay for it. SHAHA people do seem generally happy with their practice slots as well. Having less going on at Spencer seems to benefit the existing teams. Hope the Y doesn’t close that rink as they have been saying for years. I don’t get the infatuation with full ice practices either. If you have a good coach they can utilize the 1/2 sheets and tie it together when they have full ice. And don’t forget the “game mania” going on with PAHL. People want to complain about not getting full Ice slots but every time they do they feel compelled to invite a team for a scrimmage, thus losing a practice on a full sheet.

  5. Don't know if interest fizzled as much as it becomes a dead issue. No one is going to care much now that playoffs are well under way. PIHL might have to try and clarify the rule better if possible. Ultimately the kids who just wanted to play hockey are the collateral damage in all this. I think the Covid cancellation of the finals was worse.

  7. I don't know how they would count this year, but I would be kind of surprised if the court case continues. I think the point was just to get the injunction, and when that failed, I think interest fizzled. If the PIHL has additional discipline beyond what has already been doled out, then maybe they would pursue it in court, but otherwise I think the court case is more or less dead.

  9. I know SHAHA never had issues with ice time when it was two sheets. Now that they are down to one, some of their teams do utilize Rostraver a bit. As far as Lebo goes, I know some people that have regularly scheduled early weekday practices at RMU. Not really buying into an ice crunch at Preds though. Wasn’t even close to being an issue when my son played there at PW and bantam (it definitely was when he was at Hornets). I know a fair amount of people with kids on all of the teams listed above and ice touches have never an issue at Preds. Numbers would seem to back it up. All four have mites, host HS teams and have adult league as well. Rebellion (1 sheet) 17 teams SHAHA (1 sheet) 20 teams Predators (2 sheets) 18 teams Hornets (1 sheet) 19 teams

  10. Yes, it will be 2+ weeknight practices per week/70+ team practices per year and at all levels. We probably won't need to buy extra ice at Hunt Armory or WesBanco this season. In addition we will have TK Training Academy included - every other week (10U, 12U, and 14U). These sessions will be run by Tyler Kennedy and his coaches. Last season, Tyler would come to our team practices maybe once a month at these levels.

  11. Nobody claimed they had paperwork because none was needed. So who’s playing dumb? If this was high school football or basketball, 2 sports that rank well above high school hockey in all aspects, this would not have been considered a transfer. Does anyone realize that? Even the judge commented on the ambiguity of the transfer definition so why do people still insist that it was cheating? montour secret pre-season meeting- “let’s bring in the 14 year old goalie specifically to play high school hockey and only dress him for 10 games”.
