Allegheny Badgers 2022-23

I'm with you. I have been talking hockey the whole time until my wife was brought into it. Even then I complimented the coaches wife. -

Reaching??? I am sorry that I feel like the team is better than you feel like it really is. You must like winning trophies over your kid getting better at hockey. Sorry someone believes in your team more than you do. -

I have watched them play many of times over the past couple of seasons. Not much of a game. There are 2-1 games that you never really had a doubt in who was winning. Stats are a big part of it when that is all you see and hear the parents from that team talk/brag about. I will take you up on that beer. ? -

Not bashing the kids at all, I have said for awhile how good they are. Just wish they would challenge themselves more than just at the end of the season. Looking at his wife I don't think that he would "waller" my wife, lol. To each their own my man, glad your kid enjoyed playing for him, just said that my kid wouldn't. -

There is nothing delusional about 1 loss in 2yrs and a +178 Goal differential. They would challenge the other local AAA teams except Pens. Those open spots at Pens are for kids from out of state. They have the local talent they want. -

Considering my kid is a different birth year and actually challenges himself it wouldn't happen either way. I actually live a very happy life, thank you though. I can see that you don't like to be challenged, you must be oart of the everyone gets a trophy Era. -

I wouldn't let my kid play for that coach but if I had a kid/friend on the team I would tell them to push themselves. What fun is there in killing teams in the regular season games. They could be independent and play whoever they want anyways. After 2yrs of dominating a division they should want to challenge themselves and make their kids better. Some of the best AAA teams in the country don't even have all AAA caliber players. Most teams have 1 or 2 really good lines and the 3rd/4th are there to take up space and a little time. If they want to play as a AA team then don't schedule AAA teams and keep collecting hardware while your kids don't get better. -

Close games or not 1 loss in the last 2yrs in PAHL doesn't seem to competitive to me. 29 more goals than the 2nd place team and a +82 goal differential on the season. Last season 51 more goals than the 2nd place team and a +96 goal differential. That seems really competitive. -

The 05's would have been in the Midam tournament for Tier 1 with their record. The 09's we can judge after their first year of checking and then come back to it. They could have all the skill in the world but get hit once and turn into Sami Kapenan. -

I know what you mean, just sad that a team that could actually compete chooses not to. -

Look at their record before and after mid November when their best player that left for AAA came back to AA. -

I agree with what you are saying but there are some cases where teams SHOULD go for the 3rd A. Most of the teams in the area chasing that 3rd A are not good enough and didn't win like the Badgers 07's. Don't brag about going undefeated or 1 loss in 2yrs of local play and not try and at least challenge yourself at some point. That team could complete at the Tier 1 Midams at least. They finished 6th in 07 Midams, ahead of 1 of the teams that made the Midam tournament. -

They are the top dog locally, play better teams and challenge yourself a little bit and the kids might get better. -

The Badgers parents egos are not big enough to move to AAA, they would much rather play down and win championships against lesser teams. They have racked up 101-16-13 record with a plus +393 goal differential over the last 2 seasons. -
another Vengeance goalie poach

The Florida Alliance are a group of kids mixed from all over the state and around the country that get together to travel. They have only AA and A hockey down there still. Not 100% sure but I think most of the kids play on their respective AA and A teams for the season. -
1 year they have been AAA. The parents I spoke with from that team said ice time and a gym are the factors. It will be the same coaches and with SHAHA not having an 08 team it should be a smooth move. If you look at SHAHA's website it looks like they had 4 teams above Mites last season and from the way they advertised they are trying to get it up to 12 teams this season. That might defeat the purpose of going there because of ice time.

And he will sleep with your wife for free??? Plus he will tell you that your kid is the best and you should get an agent/advisor. Also make sure you do all of those extra skating classes with him to get you where you need to be playing AA at a single A level.
-
Yes, unfortunately you can't get away from parent coaches anywhere.
-
That's not true either. Some of them may coach other teams but a lot of them still coach their kids too. It happened at the 07, 08 and 09 level at least. Whether head or assistant coaches. The deal with the Pens if you coach your kid is you don't get paid, which is why most of them coach a 2nd team.
-
The PPE have always had dad coaches ?????. That is the only way some of their kids make the teams. That and if the PPE want a good older player they will take said kids crappy younger brother on a team just to get the older brother to play for them.

2022 NTDP Development Camp Roster U-17
Pucks11 replied to fafa fohi's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
Talking to parents from both sides it is about $2,500-$3,000 difference just with the initial cost. That is crazy since the Pens have all of those sponsors plastered all over the building/rinks and they get all of their uniforms/warm-ups/bags etc donated by DICK'S. With the Pens you HAVE to buy the golden bucket, gloves and pants. While the Vengeance everything listed from donations and forced to buy from Pens is included in the initial cost. Gym/training facility obviously the Pens have the bigger/nicer facilities. 1 has 2 rinks and shared practices (not all of them) 1 has 3 rinks and no shared practices. Local vs out of state development the Vengeance have. 1 organization runs all of the local pros out for their buddies- Pens Most of the guys that "make it" anywhere now (out of Pittsburgh) will not even claim the Pens as their development organization. Supposedly the 08's were scheduled to meet out of town but the Pens stomped their feet and threatened to take their ball and go home if the other team was there. They can't be the 2nd best team in the area, watch the 06 get blown up after losing to a bunch of players they cut. -

The 07 team has some really good kids on it but they will not go Tier 1, they like winning championships to much and that wouldn't happen in Tier 1. -
PIHL may have been waiting for the police investigation to conclude before they did anything.

I have no skin in this incident but if you watch the videos this Mr. Myers that you keep talking about was standing in the top row talking with parents from his own team with his arms crossed when he was attacked. If what he was saying ALL GAME was so bad like people keep pointing out then why didn't said kids parents go to the police officer that was on duty at the game, why didn't 1 of the kids coaches piint it out and have the guy removed, why didn't the refs handle it as they should or why didn't one of the school reps that are at the games handle it. Like it or not the video shows/proves that Mr. Myers was sucker punched with his arms crossed and then attacked by the father and son. Yes, the police report said that he "wanted" to seek the kid out and talk to him. That doesn't mean he was going to. Now over my years of being around sports and growing up if a parent wanted to talk/help me that wasn't my own they may seek my parents out and ask to speak with me. I have had parents and coaches do it with my son, some good some bad. Maybe Mr. Myers thought that the kid was actually a half decent player and wanted to tell the kid to keep his cool and that he doesn't have to play like an a**hole all the time.
