Ugh no they won’t, USA hockey CONTROLS the rinks customers. Maybe king Ralph goes against the grain for the predators due to owing both but they won’t have anyone to play. Truth being, I doubt he would even go against USA hockey but who knows.

Do you know what it cost to run a rink ? Rinks will not open if their main tenants are not buying ice, they probably need to be 75% booked to break even. The rinks that makes money are the ones that also run club teams.

you are still missing the point, along with other people in this thread. It doesn’t matter what we think or want, just as the governors have shut down states. USA hockey will solely decide if and when the kids can play again. Your thoughts and feelings, along with mine and others does not matter. @The King described it very well above what will influence USA hockey & hockey Canada. These corporations (yes that’s what they are Both USA hockey and hockey Canada are tied to the NHL for for tax shelters) have plenty of reserves to wait things out as long as they have to. Once covid is over in 1 month, 1 year or 10 years, the average hockey parent won’t hold anything against USA hockey. Every year there is a new crop of mites, they will refill their reserves, the game will continue to grow long after everyone here is no longer involved. tl;dr - none of us matter to the governing bodies.

While I don’t disagree with your feelings and thoughts - you are missing the point. A high profile ex nhl player has it. This will put fear into current pros, the nhl. Hockey Canada and USA hockey. It will all trickle down to the youth level. can you imagine if one kid gets it and spreads it to some of his teammates ? Or possible a grand parent who struggles to beat it. Can you see the lawsuits ???

There already is aau with youth and junior - the usphl, that’s what all the vengeance teams are. Again, it doesn’t matter if there is no rink to play on!

100% agree. not just hockey though, I doubt (hope I’m wrong) we see any youth sports this fall.

To date ( My company works with hospitals ) upmc mercy has taken care of 8 cases, Saint Clair 1, upmc East 3, Allegheny 5, upmc south side zero and this is where the testing is being done. I’d say this entire “pandemic” is over blown and unfortunately it’s turning into a political game. I would also wager that most kids that play hockey, along with their parents have antibodies for covid 19. This was by far the worse season of sickness on hockey teams. Dec-feb “the flu” went through most teams.

Gov wolf’s sheman seemed to get annoyed when ask about the little league World Series being canceled, I believe it’s July or August ? I honestly don’t see anyway we have youth and amateur sports this fall. Just my opinion, unfortunately I’ve been feeling this way all along.

Again, it’s not really 25%. Your operating costs can not exceed 25% of the loan. For example - with my company 12% of the loan is operating costs.

The only reason I am replying is because you used the word GASLIGHTING. Up until 2 years ago, I’ve heard that word used twice in the 50 years of my life. In my position, for My company (72 employees) I had to deal directly with the bank giving the loan via the federal government. I can tell you this, There is no private owned rink that will open the books for this program. Firstly, we had to retain a second lawyer for our company just to understand everything properly. Make one mistake and you are paying the money back. Our payroll has to stay the same or be higher. That extra 25% you are talking about it not completely true. It is for operating costs only - the average operating costs for 2019 divided by 12. It can’t exceed 25% of the loan. We had 3 employees furloughed, we had to bring them back immediately (before the money came in) so numbers will match. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great program. No way in hell do I see any private rink owners opening the books. Every penny has to be accounted for and has to match when this is all over. Just look at some of the people that own these rinks, half of it is a cash business and not the owners only businesses.

It’s really hard to say, I would be talking with my foot inserted into my mouth if I did but we can all speculate I suppose. possibly the bethel blade runners would be my best guess. It’s owned by the ymca now and down to one sheet. Again, this is just spit balling. Maybe Lebo because it’s community owned ? Could be afraid of lawsuits.

I’ve heard the Michigan thing from friends up there. It’s concern over things their crazy governor said, it’s what people in Michigan are speculating due to comments from the governor.

July, IMO and I’ve stuck with it for a month now is the earliest you will see rinks open and it will still be small groups. August will be tryouts if they even happen. With winter and the virus picking back up who knows what will happen.

I fully agree with you on both points. I’ve seen it first hand at ppe & esmark.

It’s honestly like this everywhere these days, very unfortunate and sad. Good friend of mine told me franklin regional has a really bad problem with a mediocre 04 kid that’s small but his dad has money and pull so everything is now built around this kid. Over at peters twp friends tell me the program is all but destroyed, central catholic is in the same boat from previous parents. All these hockey boards need to be re structured just as a booster club, this stuff would still happen but wouldn’t be as bad.

Biggest problem in HS hockey - the boards run by parents. Some of these parents assume just playing HS hockey is all their kid needs. Most of the parents on these boards have a agenda, their own kid. No wonder pihl hockey looks like crap anymore!

I don’t think anyone has tryout dates, I wouldn’t expect any posted right now. What rinks will come back up before August ? Will things be lifted by then ? To answer your esmark question, yes they toss everything at the wall and see what sticks. It’s normally just the midget teams.

What’s the big deal the scir team didn’t play Pahl but stayed tier 2 ? At tier 2 leagues don’t really matter, nobody is scouting tier 2. Maybe they didn’t want to deal with Pahl rules such as the fair play point (I heard now they have a double minus for fpp ?) the fair play point, in my opinion teaches the kids to be less aggressive, now they added a second threshold per game for penalty minutes ?

My son played there for two years, I never saw it happen. Yes I’ve seen euro kids come in half way through the season but someone would quit, that’s the spot they would get. Don’t get me wrong, there is A LOT of money made on the euro players. There are plenty of bad things that can be said about yuri and even esmark, your comment is just a baseless. To my knowledge there has only been one kid over the part 8 years cut at the deadline, there is more to that story than whatever rumors you may have heard. Slam them for the things that are real. Not bs. if you want to say they only showcase certain players for certain reasons, yes. Kids taking lessons from yuri get more ice time, yes. The rink is in a crime / drug infested area, yes. With travel esmark is by far the most expensive club to play for, yes. Their off ice program is a joke, yes. Hope this helps with your bashing.
