  1. Not gonna happen. https://www.pihlhockey.com/page/show/6152746-pihl-girls-team-information?fbclid=IwAR1Jp0pR7gvB3nOJPA7omDbMnVnVOzmtUwzbrWZzbhTdYPFdYMZ6gXFXqs8
  2. It's a shame that such advice is necessary. It's hard to convince young people to prioritize accordingly when we prop up athletes higher than the many in professions that protect us and save lives. We, as parents, often go to such great lengths to make sure our kids are better hockey players while shrugging off any struggles they are having academically. It's the wrong message. I wonder if SRU was RPI. I kind of doubt the same offenses would result in such punishment. It's mostly about the money when it comes to consequences. Death penalty for the little guys and a slap on the wrist for the big guys. Penn State Football didn't get anything close to this for one of the worst systematic offenses in history.
  3. Yes. Conflicts for sure. I would love to get back to having conflicts in my life. Too many places to go would be wonderful. I think of all the things I used to complain about and how I would welcome them back.
  4. I doubt it. I see no reason that the season can't extend into April & May. That would be good for the rinks instead of charging reduced rates during the lower demand part of the year.
  5. I agree. Say things start to get better in a few weeks. Wouldn't the state just say that the restrictions are working now so we need to stay the course? Maybe by February we'll have a good bit of the most vulnerable population vaccinated, which will begin to reduce hospitalizations. That's even optimistic considering that the current vaccine takes about a month to provide protection, I don't think most restrictions will continue far into February with better times on the horizon by then. January is promising to be the worst month.
  6. I think if kids were getting it on the ice, hockey teams would be a house on fire.
  7. I doubt conditions will be any different by January. They might be worse considering the holidays. I think a February restart is more likely.
  8. Exactly right. So many things can be done safely, but people just won't take any precautions for whatever reason. As a result, we all suffer these restrictions. My kids have not been permitted to use the locker rooms this season. I made that decision even before several kids told mine how masks weren't popular in the locker rooms. My kids enter almost fully dressed, tie their skate in the lobby and have to sit away from the others on the bench. Luckily, our teams have small rosters that allow the bench space.
  9. Where exactly am I with Covid? I don't claim to be anywhere with Covid. I say I am not qualified to make decisions on it. Others here think they know everything when they know about as much as me. I simply say it's best to trust experts in the field while others just cherrypick obscure opinions to convince themselves that they don't have to make any sacrifices for the sake of public health. I love hockey and I want my kids to play. I don't know what the risk of doing it is. I would feel a lot better about it if I knew that the adults in charge respected public health guidelines more. Some certainly do while others behave like it's 2019.
  10. As we inch closer to a public health catastrophe, doing nothing would go down in history as a dereliction of duty. I say this knowing that these moves just may not help a all. But what if things get better in the next few weeks? Things stabilized late this summer after similar moves were made. None of us know how to handle this, but the people making the decisions are doing what they are paid to do. We all make bad decisions at our jobs sometimes even when we try our best. But we can't go to work and just do nothing for fear of making a mistake. The horrible part about all of this as the choices involved are all about deciding what will kill less people. Every decision involves people getting hurt. What a mess.
  11. I was thinking that maybe we could get some ice time at an outdoor rink, but this tells me that idea a no go as well.
  12. I know that you despise me, but I hate to see the suffering that you outlined. This isn't fair at all. If this was D-day you would be one of the ones on the first landing crafts headed toward the beach. I can't say I know how you feel, My world has been adversely affected, but not nearly to the degree of many.
  13. It didn't seem totally clear to me. Indoor gatherings limited to 10 now (down from 25), but sports venues were given a percentage occupancy exemption based on square footage a couple months ago, There was no mention of that. School sports are definitely shut down. It seems likely that rinks will be shut down if gyms are, but I think we still need some clarification.
  14. You are definitely correct about how most of the older people that I know feel. The health care workers wish people would modify their lifestyle a bit. Otherwise, they are the ones stuck in a horrible situation where they have to care for the sick with limited resources. They become over-worked, over-stressed & and they face more danger to themselves and their families. Restrictions are like chemo. Sometimes the patient dies, but the patient probably has no chance without it. Enforcing any restrictions now will be tough without any $ for those that will not be able to work or operate their businesses. I don't see how we can ask people to live without an income. The worst part about shutting down hockey is that the many people employed at the rinks will suffer. It's also hard to convince people to abide by restrictions when we don't even know if they will be effective. I get that. This is a complicated issue that has good arguments on both sides. The thing that I can't understand is how too many people just refuse to do the common sense things like wear masks & stop gathering. The big Halloween parties in my neighborhood were just ridiculous. Too many people just need to grow up.
  15. It's easy for me to just skim over any garbage posts that have no relevance. Why don't you just try that instead of asking for some sort of censorship. Like fafa just said... Covid-19 directly affects the hockey world. If you don't want to discuss it.... Just ignore anything Covid-related and maybe you will feel better.
  16. Who here agrees that most of those people in their 70's & 80's were likely to die within the next decade anyway, so what does it matter if they just die now instead?
  17. Once again.... Just asking people to stay home to help the health care system. I suspect that very few on this forum will follow that advice.
  18. I wonder if the teams there will shut down or seek ice somewhere else. It's about time for the outdoor rinks to open. That could be an option.
  19. Yes. But PAHL will continue to recommend masking at all times per the PA Guidance. It also states that players must mask at all time at any venue that requires it. This may make things interesting by causing some division among players & parents.
  20. Confess? He will double-down. That's the tone that has been set by his cult leader. Never confess, never apologize & accuse others of what you are guilty of.
  21. Luckily, all the workers doing hard, dirty jobs in hot environments through the years, while wearing masks, don't sweat.
  22. Gotta laugh to keep from crying. The clowns think being a a tough guy is gonna make this disaster go away faster? No logic there? They just want to fight authority because it makes them seem macho. They just end up being miserable all the time at the expense of making their kids miserable as well.
  23. Stay tuned. I'm looking to find an obscure web site so I can send a link to a page that validates something that the masses are convinced is BS.
